Song reminds me of my mom as well brother she wasn't murdered she died of a heart attack I was 17 she loved this song me and her listen to it many many times my heart goes out to you brother or sister but nonetheless the song it really cuts deep and you know the pain that I feel we shouldn't have ever lost our moms such a young age whether you were in your teens or you were even younger than that I know your pain and please know you're not alone man or girl

One of the greatest ballads of all time. Hands down!
It’s nice that people keep reacting nowadays to Evanescence S old hits but what about their recent stuff? They released a whole new album just last year and they got two VMA nominations for it. It’s really good and it shows their growth as a band in their sound. That’s basically because after so many struggles Amy found a lineup with which she shares her values and can trust in them. A lineup that has been together since 2007 with the exception of Terry Balsamo who left in 2015 due to health issues.
It’d be great if you react to that newer stuff. I suggest the album s intro, Artifact/The Turn and Broken Pieces Shine. Those two songs go together and it’s such a strong comeback for the band. You won’t regret it
My Immortal is kinda iconic for Evanescence, that's why i think people react a lot for this one, and the old songs. But I agree with you too !

This song is very very personal to me, and it always brings me to tears. For real. I cant listen to it in public. When this was released, I hade a tough time, so my interpritation of it is very diffrent from others. For me, its about someone who have left an abusive relationship, and the struggle to get over that person.
I watched some of your videos, and I love seeing people react to music from all parts of the world. So I thought I'de recommend some. Should mention they are all kinds of metal.

Body Count - No lives matter (Rap metal. Legendary Ice-T is the singer)
Amon Amarth - Twilight of the thunder god (Swedish Death Metal band, all their songs are about norse mythology)
Sabaton - Christmas Truce (Swedish Power Metal band. All their songs are about (military) history)
Nightwish - Dead Boys Poem (Symphonic metal. And that songs is a very beautiful song)
And last one, because it carries a message that is pretty relevant in my oppinion:

My interpretation since this song even came is that he died after long sickness, and she is mourning him. However watching a few reactors doing this one made me think opposite. Someone died. You are the first UA-camrs who listen to a song without constantly talking in between and stopping the music video every 2 seconds, like some here who like to hear themselves talk and add their comments every 2 seconds. So this video is kinda tragic when you know what's going on. She was deeply in love, something happened in the relationship where they were no longer together. She couldn't take that pain (which is what the song is about) and she killed herself.
This is why there are bandages around her wrists. She appears in random places even upside down on a roof and doesn't slide off. Even the kids who are playing don't see her, and her feet never ever touch the ground... she's a spirit, a ghost.
Your comments shook me with the realization that SHE was gone rather than him. Haunting, mesmerizing, and utterly hypnotic...I can never listen only once, but 2 or 3, or sometimes even more times before somehow pulling myself away.
Amy is playing the ghost her little sister who died.
Her name is Amy Lee, Best female vocalist in my opinion. The song is not actually about a breakup, its about the death of a loved one. The music video is an artwork... Notice in the video how her feet never touch the ground and she’s in all white with bandages all over her. She’s representing that she’s a spirit and the one who has died. The guy is left behind with all their memories and dressed looking like he just got back from a funeral.

This might sound really dumb, but try a meditation, where all you do, without expecting anything, is to actually ASK your subconscious mind (which holds your memories) to never let you think of her again, to be healed, and to let her go. Imagine yourself being in a place of peace. That’s how I got over someone in my life - your mind will gradually release the emotional bonds you feel, and you’ll begin to feel lighter mentally. 😁

I love that commenters all have a different interpretation of the meaning of this song. I see a woman in a relationship in which she is way more invested than him. He is her world. She is there for him but she is realizing he is not there for her. " and though you're still with me, I've been alone along". That's what I hear but I love reading everyone else's interpretations. I see those too. That's a great song.

Notice in the video no one sees her there and her feet don't touch the ground it's because when your heart is torn to shreds it's as if you don't exist anymore and your body is so numb you can't feel the ground you walk on you see everyone around you living their lives but you are stuck in a constant state of pain
