For the small story, last week, I told My 80 Years old Uncle an Aunt, living 200 kilometers from her coming performance in LORIENT (French Brittany) : "Well, knowing how you love real voices, I think you should listen to this..." 5 hours later, they sent me :" we just bought the ticks : it's not near home, but we won't miss this for an empire !" Beauty wether it come from thev oice, the soul, or both, is priceless. Thank You Rihannon and Hubby !

But I an sooooo happy for your success in telling the story of the south and it's trials. I studied with John Cephas for 10 years and he taught me more than anyone could imagine.And not just about playing Piedmont blues but he would have me listen to the recordings. He would set the stage about the social climate for those who played and wrote it. I grew up and live in the south and remember seeing segregation. I did not understand it or adhere to it thanks to my black and white parents whose heart is filled with only love love. Beck says hi!
Giddens has an amazing voice. Was lucky to see her during her Freedom Highway tour. Fantastic show. Her biggest inspiration, and the one she considers the best female ctry singer ever, is Patsy Cline, who was, indeed, an incredible talent, lost way too soon. This is more roots music imo. Giddens also has bit of wide range of genres...Roots music, Bluegrass (another type of roots music), country, gospel, folk, African, Appalachia, Celtic, Jug Band..& more. 🙃 She plays multiple instruments very well. What a treasure she is. I'm always telling ppl I meet, or new friends about her. And most haven't heard of her. They missing out! 🥰
