I love the Bullet Strat. It’s lightweight and plays really well and it sounds just like a stratocaster is supposed to sound
Them bullet Strats are awesome lot of bang for the buck 🤘🎸
The Guitar Manifesto hey bud are the squire affinity strats and teles a good long term guitar and do the necks stay straight and not bend unlike my cheap beater artist brand strat which unfortunately has a bend in it after six years cheers 👍👍👍
I prefer the sound of the Epiphone. It seems more focused and has sustain. The squier looks better and the tremolo is a bonus, but I can barely stand the thin jangle. Making a squier sound like an Epiphone is the way to go or at least the bridge position
You can make a squier sound as a epiphone but you can't do the same with a epi
I just started playing a couple weeks ago and got one of those squires and I actually prefer the sound of the epiphone. I think you hit the nail on the head by saying it sounds more focused.
You made them both sound great but that's some seriously nice jangle you got from the strat. I have several several Squiers and like them all so maybe I'm partial but I must say I love the look of that Epiphone too.
The Strat sounds awesome such a good guitar for the money, yeah the Epiphone does look awesome
I have the Bullet Strat HSS and after 2 years I got the Tele. I traded my Epiphone for a ES 339. I bought the LP Muse and the Telecaster at the same time thanks to the stimulus check. I have one on each side of me when I'm playing.
Really great side by side comparison. They both sound pretty good. My ears really perked up when I heard the bluesy lead tone of the squier neck pickup, reminded me of my affinity Tele. Was kind of surprised to see an Epi with single coil pickups, all the ones I see here in the states have humbuckers. Another great video Rob, Rick on!🤘
The neck on the Strat had a great time, yeah it's a strange model but they do sell them in the states
Hate to say it, but I like the sound of the Epi.
Me too. Sounds more soulful to me.
Excelente muy buena comparación. gracias 👍
I've had both the les Paul and the strat . And I was all excited to play the les Paul. It was identical to the one you played. Loved the look of it. But just didn't like the way it played. And the more I played it the less I liked it. I ended up parting ways with it, not too long after. I still have a strat. Lovingly restored and upgraded. It's a pleasure to play.
That Strat wins for me too 🎸🤘
Epiphone 👍👍
Nice video man
Thanks dude 😎🎸
Glad to see they're putting the nicer die cast tuners on the bullets! That white is slick
Yes them tuners are much better 👌🎸 looks the part in white 😮😎🤘
Playing starts from about 3:07 n it's very pleasant to my ears👍
Again, it's the player and the amplifier n not just the guitar😉
Epiphone looks so classy♥️
I'm really loving that intro
Glad you like it 👌🎸
Just got the intro level Fender Strat for 15yr old Son (Complete starter package $200 US). The ergonomics was the deciding factor. I’ve seen this mentioned plenty in YT vids and internet reviews which sold me.
How's the sound and build quality of these two when compared to the yamaha Pacifica 012. Can you please tell me out of these three which would be best one. It's my first electric purchase 😁. Loved your video quality, great playing ❤️
Hard to deny the difference between the two but they both sound great and I dont think you could really go wrong with either, the squier just sounds much fuller and warmer to my ears, glad i picked it over the epi.
Great video
I always ending up to this video every once in a while now hahaha that LP tho 🔥🔥🔥
🤣🤣 you're always welcome back
I just got one of these strats that the serial shows as being 28 guitars away from this one, but its a seafoam green and hss with dan Armstrong mod .
oh wow that's very cool, great colour too
Had a 2013 squier bullet strat a lot like that 1 but sold it in january to get a used vester. Liked it a lot, did a few cheap upgrades on it n it played pretty well. but cant get the trem on the bullets anymore here in canada, now you gotta spend the extra bit for an affinity.
Ah damn that's a shame, personally I prefer the hardtail version on a strat 🎸🤘
killer T shirt dude!!! In Utero ROCKS!!! :) BTW, what tune you jammin to in the vid?
It sure does, one of my own jams 🎸🤘
@@theguitarmanifesto Wow! Great little ditty. Do you have the song uploaded anywhere?
They both sounded very good! The problem with Squier is that the nut width varies with the model (Bullet, Affinity CV), but with that said I am a Fender guy so Squier it is!
This is very true
That is so true. I must've gotten lucky but I played an Affinity with a nut width similar to their Mexican models! I should've kept that one!!
Best rewiev for starters like me
Awesome 🎸👌
i have both , but i prefer the sound of the Epiphone , i much prefer listening to your vidios , then playing them back visually :)
Each has a nice sound, I have a Squier so drawn to the Epiphone for something different. Couldn't find any Squiers or Epiphones at that price in left handed unfortunately.
VERY VERY surprisingly, I preferred the sound of the Epiphone. I didn’t expect that, I am more of a Fendery/Squier guy. Playability wise I’d defo, no-question go for the Squier. But if I had to pick between em idk hahah 😂😂😂😂 great video Rob 👌👌
Epiphone's sound is a bit sweeter to me. I think it depends on person
i got the squier fsr bullet in seafoam green when it came out in july
it sounds great only thing id suggest is changing the strings it comes with
the action on the les paul models is far to high for me
still buying one for the wall
Very nice
🎸👌
Your playing sound on this cheap guitars is really impressive!!!
Thank you
I like the Epi a bit better as a matter of tone and clarity. With some 9s, my bet it would be even better!
Personally 10s on a Les Paul scale for me 9s on a strat scale
@@theguitarmanifesto also, you play particular "heavy hand" style I have noticed your chords get sharp because of it
(we heavy handers need thicker strings for tunning stability)
Even though I've got an Epi Les Paul Standard and you'd probably expect me to be biased, I'd have to go with the Strat. The Cheapest LP having a flat top, bolt on neck and 2 single coils is just too weird to me. that spec seems closer to a telecaster than a normal LP. Both pretty great for the price though, would love both as a beginner.
Another useful vid. Cheers again. I’m a big fan of cheap guitars. Owned about 20 since I stated playing three years ago. Out of those I kept a Hohner Arbor series Lp, Martin 000x made in the us and a Vester Tradition 57 style strat. All amazing guitars and as good or better than the Gibson Sg I had a long term loan of. I can’t recommend the Vester Tradition enough. Cheap as chips and hands down as good as my cousins Mij strat. Check it out if you see one
Big bang for the buck with a lot of these budget guitars 🤘 Hohner LPs are awesome, I've had a few Beater guitars before but pretty hard to find
It would be great to see the Strat hardtail up against something.
Well this is a difficult one, each have their own unique qualities, but I believe that build quality is beter in the bullet , from what I’ve heard as I don’t one one myself. I own the EPI and am happy with it for now.
Yes the Squier QC is better
would love to see you mod that les paul
Squier for the jangle when you played chords; Epiphone single note playing lead, because it cuts through.
Agreed
Easily fixable with some EQ. I wonder if these were played through the exact same settings with no adjustment. That Squier could be easily made to cut through just as well.
Yes exactly the same setup I wouldn't mess up the comparison
I dont own any electric guitars yet. Just a few acoustics. I'm also a novice guitar tech. Personally I really like the sound of the epiphone more. I find to my ear it sounds more natural. I also just like the style of it. I've been thinking about getting an epiphone les paul vintage edition for a while, which is the cheapest model available in canada. Some people say that with some upgrades and a proper setup, it can be improved substantially to feel and sound a lot more like a gibson les paul. And I think I could definatly do the setup and upgrades myself.
I preferred the Squier but the Epiphone sounds good too. Inflation has been kind to guitarists shopping in the cheap end. Put into context , in 1984 ,my Satellite LP copy was £85 ; the cheapest Squier Strat was around £120 .
The range of guitars and QC is far better now
@@theguitarmanifesto Oh definitely!
I’ve had my eautiful black Sakai strat now for 45 years - since I was a student - and I love it’s sound. However - I’ve recently been considering an LP copy for the humbucker sound - but there’s sufficient difference and ‘meatiness’ in the sound of those Epiphone single coils that I’m now thinking that that Epiphone SL might well be the way to go! And it’s cheaper; the only consideration being that unadjustable tailpiece…. I’d really prefer a hardtail strat type bridge so that I could set it up properly!
Ive played both and i enjoy playing the Epiphone more. The Epiphone feels better to play on my fingers for licks. To be fair dont got the tremlo strat. Would recommend a strat version and not the bullet. Cuz the startcaster squire feels nice to play but different to Epiphone
Always owned fender guitars I never owned a epiphone. They look very nice and sleek. I think my next guitar will be something other than a fender... I do miss my jag and stang tho :(
Definitely try one out 🎸👌
Both guitars a good deal! I prefer the strat in this particular comparison, Im not a fan of the jr! Thanks for sharing!
The Strat is an awesome guitar 🤘🎸
Epiphone sound more clear, just need chance the tuner so it can hold tuning longer
I will have to go with the strat you’re amazing
Good choice, thanks dude 🤘🎸
I'm starting this far back to catch-up Manifesto I'm gonna drive u nuts I'll be commenting to so get ready!! Lol 😂 k here we go!!!
Go ahead about 60 videos deep 😂😂
@@theguitarmanifesto I just got done with Axess like 100+ lol
@@ElvisPretzel-rv3bg his videos are short, you've got your work cut out over here 😂🤣💪🎸 good going though
You can't go wrong with either. They're both great budget guitars.
I’m glad you described the dimensions right off the start. I’m 6’5” - would this be a factor in choosing a guitar?
Yeah you'd probably best off getting a 25.5 scale
@@theguitarmanifesto Will keep that in mind. I appreciate the reply.
Might be worth going to a music store and see what feels more comfortable, let me know what you get.
I preferred the sound of the Epi. I wonder how it would be with the Epi pups in that Squier? Great comparison though.
Now that would be interesting... Thank you 🤘🎸
The Guitar Manifesto for sure. I mean you expect a certain sound from the Strat singles but I always find the affinity line leaves me wanting more. Hearing the Epi singles they have more output and jangle it seemed. I hadn’t thought about putting those into a Strat until this video. Could be an awesome change in the affinity.?.
same to me.. i love pure r n roll sound.
Most expensive encore versus most expensive axe guitars (80s budget sold in back of kerrang) next
The Nirvana tshirt though !
I’ve been playing acoustic for 3 years and am getting into electric guitar
I think I’m gonna start with the squier
Thanks dude
Go for it!
They both sound good, they’re both cheap, I know I will buy both! Thanx!!!
They both feel and play great too 😎💯🎸👌
Personally… I liked both.
Single coil sounds great to my ears
I like both of them I like strats and les pauls
I'd go with an epi tbh. But strat is also beautiful !
This Epiphone sound pretty good!
Squier Strat buy A mile... I ordered the white on white with a hard tail yesterday should be here tomorrow ✌️ Rock on Rob 🤘🎸
Ooh nice purchase enjoy 🎸👌
There are a few 90s Squiers (The YN/NC serials) that would seriously run rings around these guitars and can be picked up for around 100 if you know where to look. Everyone knows about the Japanese squiers but these are still a secret gem
90/00s Chinese Squiers are awesome I've covered them many times before, this video is about current models available to buy new
@@theguitarmanifesto Ah I hadn't known you covered them, I just found your channel recently!
I like the strat, i like the way it looks, playability and the comfort while playing it, to me it's worth the little bit of extra money you pay for it, great review 👍.
Totally agree 🤘👌 glad you enjoyed the video 😎🎸
I like the Epi like form factor
The sound...not bad but the Squier is more strat...the Epi is a little more bassy...hard to tell without listen live
I love lp sound
I would love to see the epiphone with hot rail pickups, It would scream!
Now that would be interesting
id like to know where you get either of those for under 100 quid.
If im going for looks id pick the squire if tone im going for epiphone it just sounds more full to me
Imho I think the fact that the Epiphone doesn't have humbuckers(Or P90-s) and the tune-o-matic bridge really hurts it compared to the Squier. The bullet strat has all the features of a normal Fender stratocaster but the Epiphone is really missing the heart and soul of what makes it a Les Paul...or even a Les Paul Jr.
Still not bad though. I preferred the Epi sound for lead and the Squier for rhythm.
i have a epiphone les paul sg, in your opinion, is a pickup upgrade worth? (i reserch a little bit, and i found the two pickups (fender) are more expensive than the guitar itself).
sorry, it´s SL
I have to say boat in a different way sound great but I'd have to say I prefer the epi
I would like to start playing, and I really like Green Day, which one do you recommend?
Better with the epi
Hey wassup...I know this is an old video but if someone is reading this I need help...I'm on a budget and I can only afford one of these...never played electric guitars just acoustic...I want the guitar for lead/solo work...which of these would be better? I would really appreciate the help.
I want to play electro guitar and i'm looking at my options. Lp did sound sweeter and warmer but strat has something else that i can't explain. I need a little bit help to see what kind of differences they have.
I guess the squier sounds cleaner and sharp compared to the warmer LP?
Still hestiating between these two. Today I've seen some new Bullets, and they feel comfortable to play but still seemed to be poorly built (I'm not completely sure). Espessialy the neck looks completely raw - just bare dry wood. On the other hand, I have no opportunity to try Epi and compare by myself.
P.S. They say Bullets have a kind of "invisible satin finish" on their necks, so maybe I'd better to give a chance to Bullet Strat.
UPD: got a Bullet Strat made by Muse Incorporated in China, and it's surprisingly cute. However, this Epi is still an eyecandy for me.
They both sounded good to me, but different tones. I prefer the Squier Bullet Strat though.
I've actually been contemplating about getting a Squier Bullet Tele. I have the Squier SE Strat already, which I really like.
Oh the Squier bullet Tele is a fine guitar 🎸👌
I have a bullet strat it's amazing I've had no issues with whatsoever. I choose it over a Mexican Fender strat which i was thinking about buying.
I bought a epiphone Les Paul special. The wiring was faulty and it kept cutting out and wouldn't stay in tune.
The Squier bullets are awesome guitars, sound and okay great. 🎸👌
You just saved me time and money😂👌🏽 thank you my friend!!
I’ve had both guitars before and I liked each of them but if I had to pick, I’d choose the strat. The fret edges were really sharp on the LP and as a beginner, that made it a lot harder to play than it should’ve. I loved the sound of the LP though.
I liked the Stratocaster. the single coil pickups sounded more lively. I liked the bridge position and middle position for the best chime. Neck position chimes too though. I suppose aftermarket pickups can change my mind about it though. Definitely would like to see some lipstick pickups or Fender styled alnico single coil pickups in that SL model just to hear a difference!
Btw I liked the Noel Gallagher-esque riffs you've demonstrated on both guitars!
Epi!
Wich recording Software Do you use :)?
Garageband
I am a bass player and i have never played guitar before, but i want to start it. Would someone tell me please which one will be more comfortable for bass players ?
Personally I would go for the Strat 🎸👌
I don’t want to play funky or blues music. I want to play more indie, alternative, grunge, even some metal. What do you recommend me for?? It’s a very hard decision.
Could I give some chance to the Les Paul Jay Turser too, or there is no comparison with the other two guitars?
let me know once u found out bc same here
either get a squier bullet mustang, or the epi les paul special ve
I like the warmth sound of the Epiphone, the strat is raw..I go for the Epiphone 6:16
Which one could be the best option for me if I’m completely a beginner?
Either would be great
Escuchando con los ojos cerrados no hay diferencia
Much prefer the bullet , from what I've gathered the 4th and 5th fret on the epiphones can give issues , again great vid
I've had a few of these SLs never had an issue with 4th and 5th frets, could be a setup issue
The Guitar Manifesto yes these I've seen needed fret levelling on the 4/5 frets but mainly the new epiphone series
@@stephen4600 I've had issue with other Epiphone models a few years back with fret levels, poor QC
I'd have to go for squire over the epiphone
It just looks like it's better quality.
Agreed 🎸👌
Hi what was the backing song?
Liked the sound of the strat better. Lived the middle pickup
I'm an intermediate player, thing is, I got easily 100£ on myself, and all that went to my baby, the Les Paul SL
Is it good enough?
@@sharim605 yup! I mainly got it bc im broke as hell and cant afford anything else, but if thats the guitar you have your eye on, its great!
@@momodolape thanks man, squier price has been spiked up this lately. The price is now more than half of a McDonald's employee salary in my country 😔
For Looks Strat but for sound Les paul
did he just say “tre-moe-loe”
Yes 'he' did
The Guitar Manifesto jokes aside i enjoyed the review cheers mate
@@imisaac398 cool I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Can i please please know those chords or which song is it or is it your own composition?
It's one of my own songs
They're both top guitars..not alot in it by comparison...get both!..I had a gibson melody maker yrs ago...I prefer the 80 quid epiphone if I'm honest...
The Gibson melody maker is a nice guitar 🎸👌
@@theguitarmanifesto mine wasn't...the fretboard lifted off the neck..it was a piece of shit for the money
Oh dear 😂😂
The strat is by far the best guitar
I never seen a single coil les paul like this, and sound like a telecaster.
The epiphone sounded very flat, not much body. For me, the Squier had resonance and more body. Surprising for the price.
Yeah the strat had a more lively sound and seemed to have more sustain.
I hope I don't regret asking but how did YOU get the name MEAT?
He never replied back on the name.
Use your imagination 💯💪
@@theguitarmanifesto I knew I'd regret asking!
😂😂
I have an sl Love it,,,I have heavily modified it...I need the squire.....and a monoprice tube amplifier and I will be completed AIN'T IT JUST AIN'T IT 😜 lols.....
It never ends 🤣
How well does the Epi stay in tune?
Fully stretch the strings it'll be fine
I already bought the squier (as I was a huge fan of hendrix and was really into john mayer kinda music - you can tell I was more interested in blues and rock and roll )But sadly I now prefer the guitar style of slash, jimmy page etc. I do not know maybe it is just a beginner thing.
Fun fact: Jimmy Page used a tele for the first few Led Zep albums! It's definitely not impossible to get a hard rock tone out of a Fender style guitar
@@jackterrywhite8767 That's right but it is true that strats are more or less all rounders and a squier is also pocket friendly.
@@Hrit I would definitely say so. I've been using a Classic Vibe 50's Strat for years, and it can do just about everything except super high gain metal type stuff (mainly because of the 60 cycle hum)
It's served me pretty well on a lot of my recordings - I'd be happy to share a link if you're interested!
@@jackterrywhite8767 sure ! I would .
Gonna have to be the squier but I am a bit biased I wouldn't say no to an epiphone. Love the intro you cheesy barsteward 👍😀
All about the 80s cheese, great time 😂🎸😮👌
@@theguitarmanifesto 80s 90s best decades ever
Most definitely
