Epiphone is trying to move upscale in most cases and getting into the $750+ range for many models and cutting back on the more affordable models. Squier is still remaining affordable in the $300 to $600 range, with some cheaper options, and putting out some cool variants.
They still have the same affordable range, they have just extended the upper end. Still lots to choose from under 600 bucks to compete with Squier but the upper range is comparable to Player series Fenders. I'm not taking sides, just stating facts, I have both Player Plus Fender and upper end Epi's. No complaints with either.
They absolutely do. So much that I own 5 that I customized out a tad lol. Squiers are a real bang for the buck.. epiphones are nice in the 500 and up range, but I'd still give quality control to squier even bullets and the affinity..
My Classic Vibe Jazzmaster is my main guitar out of the 5 electric I have. Still blows my mind for tone and build quality at that price . Even my Mex Strat is in the case more often than not.
You can't go wrong with a good Epiphone or Squier Classic Vibes. My main axe is an older Epiphone LP that's completely upgraded. I have the older headstock shape. It doesn't bother me that much. I paid $429 for it back in 2012. My next guitar will probably be a Classic Vibes Stratocaster or Telecaster. A solid pair for the win running through an Orange Super Crush 100 through my used Fender 4x12 cab. That's the plan. An affordable and gig-able rig.
This 40yr two weeks ago bought the Emily Wolfe Sheraton (in Bone White) and it's killer and hangs alongside my Gretsch Players pro Jet and is a monster through my 59 Bassman Ltd
60 years old and 20 months into playing. I started with a Squire Affinity Strat. I had it Pleked and upgraded the bridge & nut at purchase. I later added ratio tuning machines, upgraded electronics and Dylan McKerchie pickups. I love how the Strat plays and sounds. My second guitar is a Squire Bullet Mustang. I upgraded the tuners, electronics and added Dylan's P90s. IMHO these Mustangs (now part of the Sonic line) are an incredible value. My next guitar will be a Les Paul. I have an Epiphone Slash Anaconda burst on order. I expect to stick with these three guitars for a while, as I will invest in better amps next. So it will probably be a year or two before I consider a Fender or Gibson ... if ever.
I love upgrading cheap (but good) guitars; just put Fender Atomic and Yosemite pickups into a 20 year old Squire Cyclone I picked up for £100. Fun project and gave the guitar a whole new lease of life
A dozen or so years ago I picked up an Epi Dot Studio cheap ($100). Immediately took it around the corner to Willcutt Guitar. They put in a set of Seymour Duncan Prails w/ all new wiring and pots and did a great set up. Became my #1 guitar for over a decade after that. I’ve also had squires I love too. Still have 2 of them actually.
I want one of those so bad. The gold top in particular. I also have many guitars across many brands. But I don’t have a p90 guitar. Been wanting an sg Jr or Les Paul jr of some sort for a while now. Even considering Yamaha rev star.
I have an original Squier Supersonic from the late 90s, and three Epiohones (Sheraton, LP Gold Top, SG) from the early 2000s. They're all great guitars but the new Squier Contemporary Stratocaster I bought last year is getting played more than all of them at the moment. I got it when Anderton's were selling them with enough discount to make me ignore the fact I though it looked weird; but having played it for almost a year its sound, weight and playability have made it my current go-to live guitar.
Actually everyone I know has withdrawn some from Buying frenzy that was lockdown and those that bought a lot of those Guitars are still sitting unplayed in their closets. Best affordable has most times been a Fender Product because of how they were built, but Epiphones for Gibson Lovers is a Decent option so my vote would be one of Squires you can find a used Blues Jr for $400-$500
I bought a Classic vibe 50s Jazzmaster and love it. Changed the pots though. Can’t go wrong with them and the make the perfect moding platform for anyone who likes to tinker.
A couple of random thoughts..... - The 40th Anniversary Squiers were fantastic instruments, but $599 was a crazy asking price. I'm seeing them in specials now in the $400 range. - The Classic Vibes are very nice. But the thing I personally love about Squier is the Paranormal range. What a great line of instruments! That new Rascal bass is fantastic! Short scale bass on a full-size bass VI body, double humbuckers, string through body.....what a beast!
This video shows why a guitar store is a wondrous place. You can come in, plug in, try both types, and maybe be surprised which label lights your fire. I have an Epi Joe Pass that makes some lovely noises.
Can't say anything about Epiphone 'cause I've never had one, but I do own three guitars from the Fender universe. A Johnny Marr Jaguar, a Gretsch Honey Dipper and a Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster. The Starcaster was and still is the most suprising purchase of any of my guitar purchases. It's a beautiful looking guitar, it's easy to play, it's price point makes it very accessible and most of all, every time I open up the case and see this guitar, it puts a big smile on my face and I'm still smiling all the time I'm playing it. Regardless of the price, anytime you have an instrument that is a joy to play, you have made a great purchase.
Owned a Fender American made Pro model strat and a partscaster built with all top grade parts. I also own Gretsch, Gibson, Yamaha and D'Angelico electrics as primaries (plus others). All short scale 24 3/4 inch. For me the reason I am a former Fender owner is mostly the scale length. I prefer the more compact scale length of the Gibson scale. I have to watch my hand position too closely if I play 1st position chords on a Fender scale neck and make more errors. The 25" scale of a Martin works, but the extra 1/2" for the Fender just doesn't. Messes with my muscle memory, I learned on a Gibson as a kid.
I don't think that it's a real battle between the two brands, since they make very different guitars. For people like me who like to play but aren't nearly good enough or wealthy enough to buy the flagship brands, it's just a question of whether you prefer a G style or an F style guitar. My first want was a 335 style guitar, so I bought an Epiphone that I love. If I decide to buy another it will probably be a Squier Telecaster specifically to get something very different from what I already have. I think the only real competition would be to try to attract new players for their first electric guitar.
A couple of years ago I picked up a Sheraton ii pro used for $325.00. It looked really rough with tarnished hardware and needed just cleaned up. It was on consignment at a local GC. The tech at GC cleaned it up and it looked like brand new. (Still does) Took to Sweetwater, put another $200.00 in it with bone nut, complete set up. It plays like butter and has some really great sounds through an AC-15. It is may main ax in the pit for musicals and I just to play at home and teaching. Sweet guitar. My experience with Epi's has been really good. I also own a Martin D10E (made in Mexico). Not a big fan of Martins but my wife really likes the sound of this one. She picked it out over Guild, Gibson and others that were more money. Lots of people like the sound of this Martin. I also play a Ric 660-12 and a Tak 12 string. All great sounding guitars. Use them all. I don't have to have made in US to fill the pocket in the mix. My job is to help the singer(s) sound good. Great vid guys!
Christmas 2002 when i got my first guitar. Was a squier affinity strat pack. $200 new. Came with the guitar, a 15 watt fender frontman amp, an extra pack of strings, a tuner, a guitar strap, a gig bag, a cable, some picks, and a practice book to teach you how to read music. I played that guitar every day for 8 years and modded the hell out of it. Loved it to death until the 6 screw trem started ripping out of the body and the wood started cracking out. Still have the amp. Neither company offers that value to the beginner anymore.
Bought a virtually unused Bullet HSS and have 0 complaints, the action is great, stays in tune(although I did pin the tremolo bridge down) and I paid a whopping 100 dollars Canadian for it, great flexibility and sound.
When I started playing 25 years ago, everyone I was influenced by was a Paul player. Still bought a Squier Strat Starter pack first- £200 with a practice amp as it was easy to find and I didn’t have to worry if I messed it up. My next Electric was an Epi LP, and that’s when I felt like I had something that suited me. My 3rd electric was a Sheraton, and I still play that and I rate with my flashier guitars. I own now 7 Gibsons against 2 Fenders. Oddly enough I’ve had more quality issues and breakdowns with Fenders than I’ve ever had with Gibsons.
I picked up the Squire Strat with the P90s and shorter scale. There were no real issues out of the box. Truss rod adjustment and some action work. Sounds great and plays great. Found no flaws in the finish.
I gotta say the last few epip I have played blow my mind as far as Squier goes, played at J Mascis, jazz master it was amazing. I was blown away at the price point the quality in Guitar. I feel Squier is more of their test the market guitar from fender. they come out some crazy stuff and it’s always in Squire Lineup, and if it does well evolves to some type of fender, something else, but if I was going to buy some type of semi hollow, 335-339 I would buy and epiphone. And change out the pickups
@@joeykelly5642Better option is pickup the Squire Jazzmaster Deluxe; exact same guitar but with a different colour scheme and no signature, but at half the price (I picked mine up for around £200/$250)
I have an inspired by Gibson Epi 335 and 60’s CV Strat. Both are incredible for under $500. Heck they are better than many for twice that much. The 335 squeaks past the CV due to the versatility with the push/pull pots and the neck is just silky!!!
I picked up a Squier 40th Anniversary Vintage Tele, and it was amazing right out of the box. The neck is just perfect - satin finish and no sharp fret ends. The neck pickup is a bit muddy, so that is probably getting replaced, but the bridge pickup is awesome. My other guitar is a 95 American Standard Strat, but I've been more excited to play the Squier Tele.
Where would you put the PRS SE line ? Equal to or above the Epi / Squier models ?? Is the SE line aimed at beginners , or are they intended to be the 'next step up' ????
I'd think it'd all depend on the application. The next two guitarist I'd like to buy (well 3 really) would be a Squier CV 60s Telecaster Thinline, a Squier CV 70s Telecaster Deluxe, and an Epiphone Casino.
Squier has really stepped up its game. There was a time when I never would have considered one especially since my frame of reference was their early 1990s offerings; which, imo, were far less than ideal. Fast forward to the present, and I took a chance and ordered a Paranormal Series Jazzmaster VII sight unseen, a few weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier. They are now firmly on my radar and I'm plotting to add a Bass IV to the mix. As far as Epiphones go, I've always felt they were pretty good value for money. I have a Gary Clark Jr Blak & Blu Casino and an EL-00 that both see frequent use.
I love my Paranormal Series Squiers. I have the P-bass, a Baritone, and an older Jaguar bass. I have a Hello Kitty mini. I'm real happy with each and every one of them, the fit and finish were excellent. I might have to save money up for a while, but I know I can get a quality instrument from Squire. I don't even bother looking at Gibsons or Fenders. I can't afford them.
Paranormal line is definitely cool, have a toranado and wow, really good quality, have an affinity tele custom, again wow really good quality and bang for the buck.
The 2 companies offers excellent products. The last guitars that I purchased are limited models, first a Squier Esquire that I simply adore! And 2 weeks ago, a superb ES-335 w/Bigsby in Cherry that is simply gorgeous and wonderful to play. It's my first 335 and was very pleased with that one! 😎
My first guitar was a Squire bullet and loved it. Had it for over 30 years until I had to sell it to pay bills. Played great, sounded ok. Neck pickup went out a month after I bought it. The shop I got it from didn't have replacement pickups for it so he put in a 69 Strat pickup in it. I wish I still had it because it was an 82, first year for the MIJ Squire Bullets (that's why they didn't have replacement pups for it yet).
I recently went to sweetwater trying to get into the electric guitar world as I have played acoustic all my life. I went in with an open mind and not looking for anything specific. I tried several guitars from several brands. And hands down I continually gravitated toward the classic vibe tele and I could not be happier with the purchase.
I'm left-handed, and have a 2022 Epiphone and Gibson LP Gold Tops. Both are phenomenally alike with the exception of the nitro and poli paint. I think the selection between Epi and Squier depends on the player's current set-up and feel.
I have the J Mascis Jazzmaster, and I'll never need another one. I have the Epi Firebird, which is what I envision Jonathan playing. Then the other day GC was selling Sheratons for $469 and, well, you know.
I like the Squier brand more but I had an Inspired by Gibson J45 EC and it was a really nice all solid wood construction acoustic that I paid about $750 for and I would recommend that guitar to anyone. (it was a little heavy but not too bad)
I've had a few Epiphones in my possession, they look great but the sound leaves me unfulfilled. I have had 3 & kept one after a pickup swap. My current Squier Starcaster classic vibe is AWESOME. I have it tuned to C# standard & love it!
the build quality is really good on each of these brands. I have both and their USA made counterparts. With the right mods and a professional set up the imports are right there. I will say though that the epiphones are more expensive and usually need more set up out of the box. If i had to pick one unmodded i would go with a high end squier.
Most of my playing years from the late eighties I Used both on stage. Until the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson range came out I would say Squire definatley had the edge, but recently I bought The IBG Les paul Custom, which I prefer to the Gibson (for the neck profile and sweeter sounding Pickups) and more recently the IBG SG special p90 which is an increadibly good guitar. I had planned on buying the Gibson Special, but apart from the resale value, I cant think of a real reason why! PS I do have USA Gibsons and Fenders. Im too scared to take them out the house!
I’ve had both. Epiphone LP Traditional Pro Gold Top. Very versatile and helped me learn the difference in them both. I have a Squire Classic Vibe Strat that is also very versatile and does what it does great for my level of playing. Everyone should try both to see what feels right for what makes you a happy guitarist. Since both are far from being the same it’s bit like comparing apples and bananas. And if you can buy one of each to total less than $1000 then you get to tool with both and learn how each help you make your own style and sound.
I really enjoy playing Squier Bullet Strats. I have sold off more expensive guitars because the cheapest Indonesian Squier suits me better. Admittedly I replaced the pickups in one of my Squiers with MojoTone pickups but most play fine with just a good setup. I don’t know how the new Sonic series compares but I plan on buying good pawn shop Bullet Stratocasters built in Indonesia whenever I find one at a reasonable price.
Have 5 squiers, one an Indonesia bullet I play All the time, changed pup's for some cheap alnico 5 hot rail types, bridge saddles pots wiring and basic setup and for about 270 total part's and guitar, I have something that can hang easily with the 700 and up range of guitars. Have a paranormal some affinity as well, and same deal with them as well, some basic fret level and polish setup elbow grease just like More expensive guitars almost always require and the squiers are beyond capable of gigging recording and any other duties are required of a guitar. The only thing I see and it's really not but the finish is thinner on squiers which I like anyways due to resonance and tonal aspect.
With Squire reissuing the J Mascis Jazzmaster they are hitting it out of the park. I have a 1998 Squire Made in Mexico Strat that's really a Fender Standard Strat. It's a wonderful instrument. I love my Squires and my Epiphones along with my Gibson and all my other guitars. Both Squire and Epiphone are building great guitars!
I own two Epiphones. An EB-3 which is really nice but always takes a back seat to my 1960s Gibson EB-0. But my 2021 Epi Hummingbird 12-String is awesome and now think I need to buy its 6 string cousin.
I just got an inspired by gibson epiphone hummingbird and it’s really nice as it is, and for the price. Going to add volume and tone control like the j160? use it with a magnetic pickup and make it my “fun” plugged in acoustic to use with effects pedals. A few years ago I got a squire bullet tele for under $200. Great guitar. It fills my every 6 month tele urge. I find the headstock to be crucial. I had a Heritage 535 and had to sell it because the headstock always freaked me out. It just wasn’t the right shape and didn’t say gibson, no matter how hard I tried to ignore it. Oh well!
My main guitar is the Epiphone Firebird from the current lineup, and it play great! It was $599 when it was bought, and its really the only guitar I've used for the last few years. I'd like to get a Les Paul, but for that, I'll wait until I can get a Gibson!
If you told me I had to start over with a Squier or Epiphone & spend the rest on an amp, I would have to go with Squier Mustang for the guitar and Princeton Reverb RI for the amp.
Now I'm mostly a bass player but I did treat myself to an epiphone adam jones. I can't imagine needing more personally but ymmv. Now on the bass side.... clzssic vibes are top value
I bought a Squire Sonic strat thinking that I'd change the pickups. But I got it and it plays great, stays in tune and sounds good. I'm sure real Strat pickups would sound better, but the Sonic works for now.
Over the years I've had both epiphones and squires. Oneof my favorites was an epi 339 ultra. It did everything. Ultimately , it had some kinda neck /fret issue that nether I o 3 luthiers independent luthiers could address. My epi 339, 335, lp and sg (loved the sg despite the broken neck and severe neck dive, donated to nephew) are all gone. However, I still have my squires Tele, strat, mustang and bass IV. And squires are not likely to go anywhere. I also had an epi acoustic that was fine until I knew better. For acoustic, there are much better options away from epi or squire.
The Epiphone Billy Joe Armstrong Les Paul Jr ($549) is a solid choice for a straight up rock guitar, with a hard case included. Then for the amp a used Marshall JMC 2000 combo. Under a grand and can play my gig. I used to live in your town when it was a sleepy retirement town, maybe it still is but with a cool guitar shop.
If I'm in the position of the van caught fire then honestly, I'm probably going with what's most available.I'd go with what's lightest if given an option so if the epiphone lineup includes Specials or a Junior I grab that. Otherwise it's Squier all day, though that JJN might tempt me if they actually have any in stock. What I actually got between the two in a bullet mustang that sounds pretty good, but none of that's really relevant because I'm mostly a bassist and a cheap Ibanez is what I'd grab for inexpensive bass
I own a 78 Les Paul Custom,a Fender mod shop Telecaster, a squire classic vibe Telecaster and an Epiphone es 335. I love my Squire and Epiphone. I’m going to buy one more guitar. I was trying to decide between a Squire classic vibe jazz master and an Epiphone Wildkat. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the Wildkat.
I have a bunch of USA guitars. BUTT (huge jass) I really really want a Matt Heafy 7 strang &&& a Squire Baritone Tele I don’t see a 7 string Gibson anywhere but Custom Shop maybe? And you can get a Fender baritone neck but not a full guitar? They both won me this year.
The Inspired By Epiphone 2020’s I have played are really amazing and felt and played great. They were way above quality of most Epiphones I’ve played through out the years. The Squier Classic series are great as well. I love you guys your the same age as me and I get all your references. I’m sad about Pee Wee as well. 1985 was a great year. Pee Ewe’s Big Adventure and Back to the future.
I’m in love with the squier paranormal series. Like I can’t decide which one I like more. But, while the new epiphones are around $1000, the Jared James Nichols has a Seymour Duncan P90.
I like the Epiphone Alex Lifeson LP Custom Axcess in Ruby, a lot of guitar for your money. I can't wait for the Vintera II line. The Telecaster Tremolo, Bass VI and '72 Telecaster Bass reissues are going to be popular 🤔
PRS SE FTW under $1K. For my needs/tastes, Epi > Squier. I own two Epiphones: a 60s Tribute LP and an SG Special. Both punch way above their price tag.
I love both brands. just depends on if you want a gibson style or a fender style. Gotta say though, having both an epiphone 335 and a squier CV tele, the epiphone is built infinitely better. Love both though!
Very Cool, Thankyou. Have a 2005 Black Epiphone SG Standard, it is so awesome, such an amazing guitar to play, and looks super cool ...... when fingerprints polished off it, same as any Gloss Black Guitar. lol. Also have a 2013 Squier Affinity 2 Color Burst Strat, with the most amazing finish of any guitar in my collection. WOW, So stunning and plays awesome. Picked both guitars up on used market for absolute Bargain Prices with cases and could not be happier. No way I can pick a favorite of Epiphone or Squier from judging on these 2 Amazing Guitars. All the best. Cheers
If you have a grand squire classic vibe of choice with a katana combo. The classic vibes are good guitars. Katanas sound fine and give options. The tone master delxues are too expensive but they are shockingly good
As someone who has taught guitar for "gulp" decades, this generation doesn't seem to care about "name brand" guitars and almost (sadly) revolt against U.S. made products. That said, I'm someone who has mostly played vintage or custom shop Gibson & Fenders guitars, I recently purchased a Gretsch Duo Jet daphne blue w/gold hardware for $417 brand new, that looks, sounds & plays amazing! One of my students brought in a Epiphone 59 Les Paul model and its fantastic but its almost a $1,000.
Had a Squier Classic Vibe 50’s Tele for 6 years. Fantastic guitar. Only sold it to help fund my USA made Fender because I’m over 25 😅 Has a couple of Epiphone Les Pauls back in the day but never really bonded with them. The new Epiphones seem to be much better.
Johnathan, you are the man. You comments are a perfect compliment. to Baxter. Epi's are generally more expensive and set necks and more moolah. Squire's are okay but I'd buy a used mex instead. As for Epi's than i'd buy a great epi for 500 and trade out the pups. I have some great epi's with Gibby Pups. What fills in Squire's void is the bullet Yuck! The highest in epi is better than the cheapest Gibby. Why a gibby w/490 pup and a Epi w/ Gibby Burstbusters or emg 81/85,. I took take the Epi.
My number 1 axe is an Epiphone I bought for $429 back in 2012. Since then I've swapped out all the electronics for American made CTS parts, Seymour Duncan pickups and a real bone nut. The guitar is quite resonant and sounds great. I think that's the most important part. If it sounds good and inspires you to play then it's good.
I have a 2007 Epi '57 Reissue Jr that I bought used. I've been tempted by some recent models but I'll buy a used low end Gibson instead. When Gibson releases a low end guitar, grab one (or three.) I have a Squier VM Jazzmaster I bought new and a pawn shop Squier Bullet (Strat) that I installed a P-90 into. I've had two others that I traded. I'm for sure Camp Squier when it comes to the child brands. For a cheap rig, I'd buy a CV or 40th Anni Tele. For an amp I'd look for a used Bassbreaker 007 combo and put a 10" Greenback in it. I have a 007 FSR Tweed and it out-Marshalls my three Marshall 5W combos.
I have 3 Squiers and 2 Epiphones. My Squier Deluxe Jazzmaster (Same as J Mascis) is fantastic and if it had Fender USA on the headstock, I would believe it. My classic vibe tele is ok. The Gary Clark Jr. Epi Casino sounds great, but plays ok. The Epi Adam Jones is amazing and fits right in with my USA Strat.
I have an Epiphone Wildkat and Wilshire Pro reissue; still play both but had initial quality/set up issues. Classic Vibe 60's great out of the box; "Legendary" Bullet Mustang did a little bit of work on and it's a player. Squire/Fenders I own seem to be better quality out of the box.
Remember the celebrity death matches on Baxter's MTV? You guys should have Squier vs. Epiphone Smash fights aka guitar crash derby. It would go viral 😅.
I have had about 7 Epiphone electrics, a lot of Les Paul's and a 70's Crestwood/Wilshire. Out of the whole bunch I have only liked my 70's Epiphone Bard acoustic. Whereas my Gibson 61 Reissue SG was fire.
I’m probably in the minority here. But I love my higher end Epiphones. I just ordered an Emily Wolfe white wolf and got a white Les Paul Custom. I also love building guitars from parts/kits. To me, I can build a Tele or Strat with better electronics and build it exactly like I want for a bit more than the cost of a Squier. It’s a lot more work. But I actually enjoy that work. It’s part of the fun for me.
Neck profile is what gives players their comfort. When selecting a guitar, search for the profile that you prefer. Forget about set up. That can always be adjusted to your likings. Anyone that plays must learn to adjust your guitar. Or you're only learning half of what you need to be a player. NEVER rely on others. They're gonna set it to their liking and hope you like it too. I say, fck that.
The truth is the only people who care about the name on the head stock are other guitar players.
To be fair I taped my headstock brand until/unless THEY pay me to play their brand
It’s pretty obvious what it is but still……. 💰 pls
@@jambajoby32that’s how I feel about shirts. I don’t like the idea of paying $20 to $30 for a plain T-shirt with a big logo, unless I’m getting paid!

@@muanjocaTROLL ‼️‼️‼️
@@muanjoca bought em used too but seriously, I find enough audience sure does care about guitars! (and other instrument brands)
My Classic Vibe Jazzmaster is my main guitar out of the 5 electric I have. Still blows my mind for tone and build quality at that price . Even my Mex Strat is in the case more often than not.
I have the early model with the "Duncan Designed" PUPs in it. It is an exceptional guitar.
heck yeah. love those
You can't go wrong with a good Epiphone or Squier Classic Vibes.
Danelectro!
I had a cheap Epi Paul years ago, and although it was a little creaky, it sounded and played great.
So it will probably be a year or two before I consider a Fender or Gibson ... if ever.
This reminds me of Back in the early 90s, my buddy put a $2500 stereo in a $1600 mercury tracer.
I am blessed to have Gibsons, Fenders, Epiphones, and Squires. I play my JJN Gold Glory more than the rest. It is truly a great instrument.
40th Anniversary Squiers are excellent quality and with the over production they often come up on sale.
You can find them brand new for about the same price as an Affinity, it's crazy.
The newer high end Epiphone sig. artist models are impressively spec’d and seriously nice instruments, well worth checking out.
It's a beautiful looking guitar, it's easy to play, it's price point makes it very accessible
and most of all, every time I open up the case and see this guitar, it puts a big smile on my face and I'm still smiling all the time I'm playing it. Regardless of the price, anytime you have an instrument that is a joy to play, you have made a great purchase.
‘The Spleen’ from Mystery Men… GOAT
Classic vitality just got one it's beautiful and it plays great
I don't think that it's a real battle between the two brands, since they make very different guitars.
My 40 year old Squier Strat is still chugging along quite nicely. Great sound and very playable.
I feel Squier is more of their test the market guitar from fender. they come out some crazy stuff and it’s always in Squire
Lineup, and if it does well evolves to some type of fender, something else, but if I was going to buy some type of semi hollow, 335-339 I would buy and epiphone. And change out the pickups
The J Mascis Jazzmaster would be my pick, too. Was always very impressed with them
@@joeykelly5642Better option is pickup the Squire Jazzmaster Deluxe; exact same guitar but with a different colour scheme and no signature, but at half the price (I picked mine up for around £200/$250)
I want one, but I never had a squire or fen. Do they have baseball bat necks?
Totally agree on the 40th. Great neck, awful neck pickup. A solid starting point, but I can't believe they tried to charge $600 for it.
Where would you put the PRS SE line ? Equal to or above the Epi / Squier models ?? Is the SE line aimed at beginners , or are they intended to be the 'next step up' ????
I modded both my Mexican Strat and Highway One Strat with Hot Noiseless pickups, locking tuners and a bone nut. They play and sound great ! 🎸👍
I agree. Find a guitar that feels good in your left hand and on your shoulder. Everything else is changeable.
years ago you needed different brands for different sounds Now any guitar at any price can give you the sound you need via pedals and modeling amps
What do you guys think of the 2015 Gibsons? For one, the pit out a double cut with a super wide neck.
Well I did buy an Epiphone earlier this year, but does it count if it was used?
Buy either, neither or both, if it’s what you are looking for
I'm left-handed, and have a 2022 Epiphone and Gibson LP Gold Tops.
Then the other day GC was selling Sheratons for $469 and, well, you know.
my dream purchase for next year is an Epiphone LP Modern and Squier Paranormal Nashville Strat so for me Epi and Squier are brothers in arms.
Get both Eppiphone and Squire are great for the money .
Love my Sheraton II. Also my favorite headstock of any brand.
That’s were Firefly’s and the like are making headway at the lower end.
Oh well!
Love my Epiphone LP 1960s and my Squire Tele CV 1950s. Both simple, relatively affordable and great.
What about a hollow/semi hollow break down. Curious as to where gretsch falls in with epiphones.
Ima watch this video, even though @Casino Guitars misspelled Squier.
Earlier in the year I was able to snag an Epiphone Les paul custom, from Guitar Center for $500! brand new in box too. It aint bad
The Epiphone Lazarus Les Paul is the first Epi I played that wowed me.
I have a casino that I love and an affinity Strat that plays great. I think it really depends on the individual guitar.
I could never afford an gibson 335 so....I tried an epiphone 335 pro and wow it sounds and plays great. It is the first epiphone and am very pleased
Blackberry Smoke Tribute band!! Love it!!
Hey great video this was very informative 🎸👍😃
Paul Rubens was the waiter in the Blues Brother’s went to the Chez Paul to recruit Mr. Fabulous as they were “putting the band back together.”
Just purchased an Epiphone Casino. Love this guitat.
I have a bunch of USA guitars. BUTT (huge jass) I really really want a Matt Heafy 7 strang &&& a Squire Baritone Tele
I don’t see a 7 string Gibson anywhere but Custom Shop maybe? And you can get a Fender baritone neck but not a full guitar?
They both won me this year.
Saw BB Smoke when they came to Maine...that guy changes guitars a lot.
TPS just did a show on the HRD and it was pretty good
I’m in love with the squier paranormal series.
I have both ...Squier classic vibe is better guitar for the money..And love that you can make upgrades at your pace to make it suite your taste.
I haven't read the comments. but have you tried the Sire line (T, S, L, H styles)? If Larry Carlton puts his name on it... then they must be good.
PRS SE FTW under $1K. For my needs/tastes, Epi > Squier. I own two Epiphones: a 60s Tribute LP and an SG Special. Both punch way above their price tag.
£1400 eppiphone or a usa fender, the choice isn't even close
Agreed. Epiphone every time
@SiddVicious yeah the new dave mustane is about that, I paid £1500] last year for an American pro
No one cares about what brand guitar you play if you can play it well.
When Gibson releases a low end guitar, grab one (or three.)
I have a Squier VM Jazzmaster I bought new and a pawn shop Squier Bullet (Strat) that I installed a P-90 into.
Best bang for the buck Gibson is the Tribute Les Paul...pick one up used 800.00-900.00
Remember the celebrity death matches on Baxter's MTV? You guys should have Squier vs. Epiphone Smash fights aka guitar crash derby. It would go viral 😅.
Boss Katana would be my amp in this scenario and that new Paranormal Nashville Tele.
