      @@abccba2344 I do know this to be an ever more prevalent fallacy being spread in YT comments. It makes some feel good about being right which is legitimate but does not help tackle the challenge to go 100% carbon free by 2050.

    I could see it as a trolling/slow speed engine on a power boat w/ water jets. Any slow running you could turn off the main engines & have a slow cruise around a bay area or an inlet. When you're ready to move on start the main engines, tilt the little diesel up out of the water & go.

      There are far more robust and inexpensive ways to put a diesel moat on a boat Like using a stern drive leg that way you can have any motor you want and it’s far easier to work on too
      Plus do you really want to put 330kg on the back most part of the boat All I’m saying is there’s a reason they are using a rib inflatable

    These outboards are obviously commercial and for the military, not for flash gits out for weekend fishing trips with there buddy's for a start there pig ugly,but if your using your boat 15hrs a day every day diesel is the way to go,not only for fuel saving but torque at low revs no spark ignition no highly combustible fuel on board and you can go a third further with the fuel you have on board.Service just drop the engine oil,no spark plugs ht leads etc.My Diesel engine on my boat is 11yrs old 33.000hrs never missed a beat,only thing that it has is an oil change and filter every year other than that never spent a penny on it except changed two drive belts that I kept for spares.Diesel every time,they won't sell any in America unless your life depended on a outboard and fuel efficiency and you expect to keep it working hard for a couple of decades.

    2 belts are not simpler that a shaft abd 2 gears in a gearcase. This mechanism is far more complex with more gears and more potential points to fail. Also an outboard shaft is meant to last forever so even if the belt lasts 3 years, which depending on the usage might be difficult, it can't be compared with the 20+ years of a shaft. I could be wrong these are new engines so I guess only time will tell.

      @@KyriafinisBill that’s literally an average of 50 hours a year. That is nothing. Even recreational boaters here on the Gulf Coast are good for 5-600 hours a year. 20 years of extremely light use. Ok I could see it. It’s much better to go by hours than years. Todays outboards and lowers are much more robust. Though I agree on the outboards being simpler than this engine, 20 years is hardly the norm. We usually change the lowers on our offshore boats depending on hours every 3-5 years. Probably 2500-3500 hours ish.

    • @KyriafinisBill
      @KyriafinisBill Рік тому

      @@GulfSoftwash yeah I get that but based on the manual I would have to change the belts 7 times so far with the boat just sitting and doing nothing. Also the lower unit life span doesn't matter this has a lower unit also so you would have to change it with the same frequency you change any lower unit but in the mean time you would have also changed 3 belts and those things are carbon fiber so they wouldn't be cheap. The equivalent of the belt is the shaft not the lower unit and I am pretty sure you don't have to change the shaft so often

    OXE Diesel from CIMCO MARINE - sucks! The Swedes soldered it to us for 45 K euros each. We were one of the first to acquire 2x200 hp and we still curse this day of our life. We serve ourselves, nothing complicated. The engine itself is GM (for Opel Insignia). An innovation only in the transmission to the propulsion. 1. Non-industrial model. Not suitable for heavy use. 2. Raw and imperfect design. 3. The housing starts to molder down almost immediately despite the anode protection. 4. The motor cowlings are literally ripped off by the pressure of water. We had to remodel it ourselves. As a result, all the parts were in the water and the entire electrical part had to be changed. 5. Turbines do not withstand the nominal declared speed, overheat at 3000 rpm. As a result, it is impossible to develop full power. 6. The company does not want to be responsible for its products. 7. It is impossible to get technical support. Got the money
    and forgot. Then they simply do not respond to emails. A couple of years later, they admitted that some parts, turbines in particular, were incorrectly calculated and incomplete, but they refused to send new ones. 8. The engine cannot be lifted on the move in shallow water, which increases the draft by half a meter. 9. Weighs almost half a ton. In short, quality 2+, technical support 0, manufacturer's responsibility 0. One and only plus it's diesel. We were forced to take it for a work in order to meet maritime safety standards.
