Hope you all like my new intros... wasn’t a fan of my old ones and just wanted to switch things up and try to be more unique.
Anyways.. enjoy the video 😁
They are amazing!
I like this one more
Love it!!!
Amazing. Videos as aways.
I like it
Just binged your entire pontoon series in one sitting, absolutely awesome. You put a lot more work and detail into it then I expected when I started the first video. Super cool.
Me too actually! Overnight. It was far more interesting than I expected. Perhaps the 'Goonzquad' background music helped. LOL
Put some plastic or carpet on the wooden runners to help it slide on better. Great job Zac love that pontoon
He knows about the carpet. He had carpet on the old trailer & added more when he replaced some of the wood on that trailer.
I was wondering about the bare wood as well. We've always used polyethylene strips on bunkers, really slick. Counter sink with stainless screws and they'll out last the boards.
@@johnthompson9625 and then some oil or wax on them. It’s like sliding on ice.
I never thought I would be saying this but, as you are cruising out there on the lake, relaxed on the bench seats, it made a pontoon boat look cool and fun (which I really never thought of them before in that way). It had the feel of a floating living room. All you need now is a big flat screen TV.
Pete R I used to say the same thing. We bought and Avalon Tritoon and have tons of fun!! Also put an enclosure on it so we use it year round!1
@@mikejones2083 Excellent! I think it would be cool to use it as a good platform to scuba lakes for treasure hunting. Plenty of room for gear.
@@Pete_R63 We do have guys that dive here at Lake Murray SC and only use Tritoons!!
@@mikejones2083 How cool! I wonder how the visibility is there. I know a lot of divers go to Lake Jocassee from the Atlanta area here.
Enjoy the great outdoors with a TV. Wow, what an idea. May as well bring the playstation out there too.
A third pontoon will increase your buoyancy thus increasing you GVW capacity. As far as adding speed......not really. But will increase your acceleration to your current top speed. Done this a few times. Great Job. Its one of the best bang for your buck modifications. And Pontoon Wholesalers are a great source.
I owned two 20 foot pontoon boats, then purchased a new 24' tritoon. A standard pontoon is a displacement hull, simply moving water out the way (like the Titanic) and will never plane. You can add all the horsepower you want and never get over about 24 mph. The 3d pontoon gives the boat enough surface area to plane, and yes, makes a Tremendous difference all around. I noticed your pontoons were very small...I think mine were 25" in diameter on the tritoon and it would go well over 30 mph with a 115 hp four stroke Mercury. Fuel economy was extraordinary, stability and turning was great. I even took it into the Gulf of Mexico out of Mobile and it felt safe. Everyone should add the third pontoon to their boats.
Thanks for changing the intro , very nice. You should put carpet on the bunks, aluminum and pressure treated lumber don't play well together.
I was wondering if he was going to carpet the bunks, too. I know he replaced it on the old trailer so when I saw them bare, I thought for sure he will.
I get quite sea sick, so much of my life I've avoided boating. But a pontoon boat would be just the ticket. They look amazing. Super stable, heaps of room to move around. They look really comfortable in terms of eating and entertaining. You could fish off them, have a shower etc etc. The list goes on.
If youre only turning 4700 RPM you made need to drop down a size or two on your prop. That motor should be turning close to 6000
Rodney and Paige Glass That is correct!!
This is the reason I came to the comments, just watched the video and saw him mentioning his RPM. Need to go back probably -2 on your pitch
Watching you go back and forth jacking up the pontoon reminded me of when I had to get a 1,000lb hydraulic lift off of a pickup truck by myself. I used an engine hoist and did the reverse, slowly lowering it back and forth until I finally got it to the ground. I was dang proud of myself.
That boat looks awesome. You did an amazing job. Someone would pay you dearly for your skills and ideas. Be proud my friend.
Love your videos! Love that you don’t try to sugar-coat it. You make a mistake... you own it. Great job on the build!
Great call on the Tri-Toon a whole different boat now and ready for the big water.
You deserve much more subscribers
Once on plain trim your motor up, and you will get more speed.
Just saw your channel for first time tonight. You seem to be a talented and motivated guy, great job on the pontoon boat. A bit of advice from an old man with many thousands of hours on the water. You will want both swing doors on either side usable for docking at fuel floats and for guests to get on and off. Keep up the great vids.
this series makes me want to get a pontoon boat!
I recently put 1" x 6" PVC boards in the place of carpet on my pontoon boat trailer bunks. I got them from Lowes. It looks good and works well...so far. I countersunk carriage bolts staggered at 2' intervals to hold the boards to the trailer boards.
I'd really like to see a cost break down of what you spent and made off like selling the trailer. As I write this you say you are going to can't wait to see it. Good job man.
Dude I swear you inspire me to do UA-cam! Awesome video!
Great idea to add the 3rd ‘toon; I didn’t even know you could. And smart choice on the beefier trailer. You shouldn’t regret good money spent on safety and reliability, especially if you start towing that bad boy to other lakes on the highway. You’ve done a great job of building a $40k tritoon from a $1500 starting point. Even if the cost was $20k (retail), you are still way ahead
I've watched this series with interest and have enjoyed watching you trick that boat out. If I may make a comment on the new center pontoon. I come from a airplane background and something that is done as a safety precaution is when you put a bolt and nut in an airplane if possible put the bolt head on top so even if the nut comes off the bolt will stay in place. I noticed that the bolts you put in the heads are down. I'm sure it's not as big of a deal in your application but in your case if a nut comes loose you'll lose the whole nut/bolt combo. I'm looking forward to more vids, keep up the good work.
Here's a "things my Dad would say" comment. Before starting some evolution like trailering the boat, etc. Make a checklist beforehand and set the conditions before you start. Not for stuff like lighting a BBQ or washing the car, but for an event where there is potential to have an expensive screw up. My two cents. I agree with some other comments here, you make pontoon boats look cool and fun. Great video, good times.
Hi Zac,,,
I would put some sort of high powered headlights on the front of the boat to see where you're going...
👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Good job! 💯
👍😍👍
Great! I’m planning to do this to my $1500 pontoon boat as well! It sounds like your conversation with Pontoon Wholesalers was as great as mine! I’m going to get the motor mount and integrated fuel tank in February on a 20’ log from them. He also recommended a new prop for me, really great stuff!
That seems standard on these pontoon boats, the wrong size prop? Just like this one, running far too low RPM. Weird.
That was a lot of work. I am really impressed with your rebuild. Enjoy lots of great times with your friends. you have inspired me to get something like this going on. Stay safe, party on!!
Your videos have improved so much since you started! Your presentation is also slick and confident.
I’ve been watching all of your boat build videos. These are awesome man. Great work. Had to laugh a little in this one because I live just a couple minutes away from where you got your third pontoon. Keep up the great work.
You need to trim up more and lift your motor. It's sitting way to low when under way. The water should not be at the bottom of the cowling. It needs to be at the cavitation plate
You got skills young man.
That is one Beautiful Pontoon great job on the rebuild
Hey man I’m a certified marine mechanic and mercury. That motor should run up to about 5000 rpm maybe even 5500. Look into changing your prop to get the max performance out of your boat. Lmk if you ever have any questions. Love the content. Smooth sailing!
You can also increase rpm’s by putting a different prop on it.
You're doing an excellent job keep up the good work I enjoy your videos you're going to go far
Love the new intro!!
Great job on total boat
Good job that looks great you’re gonna have a lot of fun on that thing can’t wait to see the VW videos. Thanks for the Entertainment God bless
Your motor is too low. Also, you need to find a new prop. You shouldn't be maxing out at 4700 RPM. Find out the WOT operating range for your outboard. I'd recommend a 4 blade Stainless steel prop with a low pitch, like 13 or 14. That should get you closer to your WOT operating range.
Prop is deff wrong he should be getting more speed
You can call it a pontoon with three floats. Pontoon just means a floating structure like a dock or a bridge. The fact you drive it around makes it a pontoon boat. Great job btw.
I don't believe you had the bimini open the first day, second you had it open. That might make a difference also.
Zach great job making that pontoon into something you love! I can I suggest if you find some time turn your bolts around so they go thru tfrom the top into the third pontoon supports...that way if you ever loose a nut you are less likely to lose the bolt. Keep up the great work!
Content is looking great Zach.
oh man, if you ever change the original pontoons this will become a ship of theseus situation
"In the metaphysics of identity, the ship of Theseus is a thought experiment that raises the question of whether an object that has had all of its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object"
Great job. Definitely put some marine carpet on the wood runners.
Always love the vids, music very chill
great video, like the new intro, amazed at the difference the third pontoon made - congrats!!!
Dude you do amazing work!
I thought I recognized that lake. I live a few miles northeast of you on another larger lake. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video! Going to look into this kit instead of trying buy secondhand center toon. At 21:25 he is going to work on trailer and cover bunks. Looking forward to the final outcome!
I have one and really like it. Much quicker getting on plane, and sits higher on plane with a load on the bow. I highly recommend.
Most factory built tri toons have "spray shields" or skins which bolt up under the deck cross members to cover them and reduce drag from the water hitting the cross members. Also change your prop and go to a 2-4" lower pitch to get your rpms over 5000. Its about a 250 rpm increase for every inch of pitch, i.e. if you have a 19" pitch prop pulling 4700 rpm going to a 17" pitch should get you around 5200 rpm. Run your test with just you on the boat and the engine trimmed up to where its just below the point the prop slips or cavitates.
Bro, I am envious and proud of you taking on such a project....and seeing remarkable results. My advice from an older "party-er"...don't overdo the number of fellow revelers. The more the drinkers....the more responsibility and the less time you will have to relax and enjoy your treasured CLOSE FRIENDS. Plus, invite those who will chip in on the expense AND help to clean up after you get back to the boat ramp... to many scatter like cockroaches once the booze and babes have gone. Happy 2021 Bro ! JwgK on the Gulf Coast in Texas
yep as said below, at 4700 rpm you are bogging that motor. You need a little less pitch prop for that added weight. 5500 should be your minimum wide open throttle rpm. The response and steering will really wake up...and you'll go a little faster
You need to carpet your trailer bunks. Buy black synthetic fiber carpet by the foot off the roll at Depot. Take measurements and pre-cut your carpet strips. Take each bunk board off individually, wrap 100% and then staple them on the bottom, then reinstall. Plus carpet the same on the two stopper bunks on your front winch tree. Also, do some homework into re-propping your engine. You should be getting your RPM’s up about 1000 more than your getting. That Mercury should be topping out between 5400-5700 RPM’s (not 4500’s). Go with the maxed radius prop for your engine, but one with a lower pitch, and one with extra cupping on the blade tips for pontoons, and you’ll achieve that. Get your RPM’s up and you’ll gain some top end speed. Nice thing,,, props are cheap. One more thing, the best upgrade we ever made to our pontoon boat was to add the SE Sport 300 Hydrofoil fin to our engine. It’s the “best in testing” hydrofoil fin on the market. The difference is night and day! Better more precise turns, the thrust increase is phenomenal for hole shots, and it completely eliminated any cavitation or prop blowout when accelerating. You can just bury that throttle! They’re not expensive either. Check‘em out, you’ll be glad you did! Great work so far. You’ve done a really nice job and I love your passion for it! Enjoy!!!
That lake is so glassy. I'd be out there everyday waterskiing.
Hey my man" a little trick so your pontoons don't get damaged, on the runners' get some carpet and fasten it to the runners so it slides on and off easily without scratching up your pontoons' eventually the bear wood will damage them🤔😁👋👋
Best channel on UA-cam.
I really want to get a boat now after moving. I gotta get a pond dug up. I want my own little lake or pond to have a boat on :) I don't want to worry bout where to keep it.
You should do a series with a sailboat next - trailer sailer?! Love all your content.
Man, owning a pontoon boat looks hella chill.
Absolutely love the pontoon but waiting for your beetle rebuild 😉
For lifting the Tritoon off trailer, did you ever think of making your own Gantry Cranes made out of wood? You could use a sling to go under pontoons and chain hoists for lifting. With the price of wood it may be a little expensive but worth it in the long run. We just got a 14' Sunray! Love your videos.
Been thinking about putting a 3rd toon on my older pontoon for more buoyancy, so that's for letting me know it will help allot. Can't want to see how much you got in that thing now.
That 3rd tune needs to be installed as far aft as possible. It is way to far foreword. You should pick up 5 mph.
Agreed move it back
The video I’ve been waiting for!!
Be sure to take footage with a GoPro of the underside of the boat at top speed and see how turbulent the water is. Also if you put skins on the underside of the boat between the pontoons the water will Glide by faster with less resistance oh, and you might pick up some speed.
Bad ass boat. Nice job!!
Throw some marine carpet (or any old ratty carpet) on those bunks! Little cutting, couple staples, then boom easing sliding
And now you can use the jet bikes to go and get more beer when you run out when your banging the tunes out and partying.
I like the new intro! Nice work on the boat.
Your doing a great job, I enjoy your vids
Didn't look to even out the boat when setting in the water (backend still set lower) and didn't look to raise boat on water at all. Maybe with more passengers it would help but it looked to set plenty high enough before installing 3rd pontoon.
you might want to try a jack plate for the engine. i don’t have one but with one, it looks so easy to adjust the hight to get the most out of the engine.
good work! Now with more buoyancy, you can play with a couple different prop combinations now that you have less boat in the water at speed, might run you few hundred bucks, or less for some good used stainless props. But, thrust vs. speed is a gamble on toons. Should be some good episodes for you!!
Awesome build! Now you just need to recruit some ladies 👍🏼
Awesome job! Thanks for more great content!
Also Don't forget to add Midland MXT105 MicroMobile GMRS 2-Way Radio & a AcuRite 5-In-1 Weather Center With Color Display it will help in case any emergency.👍
That is really awesome makes me wish I had a Pontoon
I feel the next logical addition is a cooler lol
Pimp My Pontoon ft. Zach & a crazy lightshow on water! lol. Loving the new upgrades. This coming spring I can see a few pontoon vids in the works. How about you make something to tow behind the pontoon for people to ride on...maybe....VW Beetle themed?
Can you break down an estimate of costs on whole project thanks!
Great job your a skilled dude
K
Great test!
Good decision to add the 3rd toon.
After you put carpet on the Bunks keep the Boat attached to the trailer, mine slid off when backing down the ramp.
Did you have to lower the motor in the water? Seems like if you're sitting higher out of the water that less prop would be in the water. I'm thinking about doing the same with mine and I'm curious.
Hey man 4500 rpm seems low for wide open throttle on plane. My 90 Hp and 150Hp both want to be around 5500-5600 RPM when up on plane and at wide open throttle. Lugging the motor can wear it and/or the lower unit out early, so you may need to get a higher pitch propeller. Every inch of pitch is good for about 200 RPM. Good Luck!
Have you installed a sacrificial zinc or aluminum block to protect your metals??
Ho, great video but you don't show the U-bolt install for the trailer safety strap? curious if it was a problem ? seems like just ubolting into the front plate would not be string enough? any advice?
I like the new intro! The only thing I think would look better would be to change how ultimate rebuilds appears. I think it would be sweet if it was sprayed into place with paint since you do so much awesome painting
You could probably film it yourself too using stop motion as you paint each letter
Very cool!
What part of Florida are you in? I’m so impressed with your project here!!!
I'm sure you already checked, but when you hammered in the front, your mount bolts were either loosening or tightening, might wanna double check.
Tri-toon's are SOOO much nicer. We had a 22' pontoon with a 115 Yamaha that would do 25mph. We sold it and bought the same boat in a tri-toon option with a 150 Yamaha and it does 41mph gps confirmed. It's fun passing center consoles and them looking over like WTH!!?? lol
Curious after watching all your vids, if you wished you had moved the bar forward maybe 12-18"? That would have allowed you so much more room for a traditional captains chair. It really makes me nervous to see you sitting or standing so close to the back like that. Just be careful if you ever go tubing because I've seen folks hit waves and go airborne and if you are standing and not paying attention... man overboard! lol
have you ever swapped out 15" wheels for the pontoon (smaller) wheels and do they fit the same hubs?
Amazing intro!!!!!
Nice work! But no threadlock on those bolts? Or are they nylon or locking nuts?
i like 2 toon pontoon boats but i saw this i own a 2 toon pontoon and its rear end is like sinking its so low when i saw this it made me want to upgrade it to a 3 toon but my trailer for it cant support another toon in the middle because the middle goes up a little bit
Sorry, I comment as I watch, some of those aerials should be used for ads for some pontoon companies or dealerships. They should pay you to shoot that so they can play it at trade shows or for their own websites.
Will these plastic toons get water logged over time?thanks Jeff . I Like your videos
