You mentioned Classy Freddy Blase and his saying "pencil-neck geek". He recorded a song by that title. You folks should really react to it.
BTW, the first heavy metal song was Blue Cheer's version of The Summertime Blues.

I'm from southern Wisconsin and I grew up watching AWA wrestling on TV every single late Sunday morning. The Crusher, along with his tag team partner Dick The Bruiser, were regulars, as were other notables such as Verne Gagne, Mad Dog Vachon, Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens, and of course, Jesse "The Body" Ventura before going to the WWF.
Every Fourth Of July, my family would go down to the park for wrestling matches at night, along with the carnival rides, games and food, and, of course, the fireworks.
Growing up, my family would go to Milwaukee every year or two to see a wrestling card. I've seen Andre The Giant, The High Flyers (Greg Gagne & "Jumpin'" Jim Brunzell), Bockwinkel & Stevens, "Superstar" Billy Graham, Chief Wahoo McDaniel, Rick Martel, and a whole slew of others. But my favorite match was around 1980 - Crusher Jerry Blackwell vs. The Crusher. They were both vying for the right to the name Crusher. It was a brass knuckles match and was very violent and bloody. Was it real? Who knows, who cares? The Crusher won. YAY!
I've been listening to this song for the past forty years, but the Cramps version. I had no idea it was a cover. This version was completely and totally cool!
Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention. Now I gotta go buy it. LOL!

I use to see the Crusher riding his bicycle around South Milwaukee while smoking a big ol cigar. They have a statue of him in South Milwaukee with a keg of beer on his shoulder. I remember the Crusher being played on local AM radio stations. Good Times!

Hey you two! 😁It's good to see you again. I've been subbed for 4 years but never reached out to say how much I appreciate your great channel. Better late than never. Just wanted you to know you have inspired me thru your years of music exploration and Kel's journey from purely classical to where she is now as it applies to music. Thank you both, you're a great team! Peace...Mr. Ken

Hi Ken! It’s really wonderful to hear from you. Finally 😂
What you have shared truly matters to us. We adore being able to live side by side and do what we love together. The music is a great and powerful bridge where we all may stand upon simultaneously.
Kindest regards from the 2 of us.
      Big love,

Great to see you two "back at the controls." Band-Maid has put out a lot of great music since you last reacted to them. You should give their new stuff a look - will put a smile on your face. Their two most recent MVs are Unleash and Influencer. If you liked their instrumentals like Onset, I also recommend their latest instrumental called From Now On. :)

I love wrestling too, Rich….I got into it about mid 1984 when I moved into my first apartment with two friends, one of which had been following wrestling since Freddie Blassie was champion….we took the the spectacle and went to watch the first Wrestlemania in cctv at a local civic center.
The attitude era was the best!
It could be argued that the growl began with old blues singers in the 1930s…but if you’re talking about the metal yell growl, that’s something beyond….and you may be right with this!

The origins of scream, growl come from my mom when I was late for dinner as a child. Perhaps the Nova's heard this sound as they were driving by and it stuck with them.

So what we have here is....damn! Surfer rock, in the early 60's was really big. At the same time, Professional Wrestling was already established. Wrestlers from the late 50's were the legends of the early 70's when wrestling really took off. Where the heck did you find this Kel?! A true blast from the past.

@@Kel.N.RichReactions I remember going to the Montreal Forum in the early 70's to watch All Star Wrestling. Killer Kowalski and the crews. Andre The Giant only beaten when " shenanigans " entered the ring. The televised wrestling would air about 2 weeks later on TV. Later, at the beginning of the 80's, I was living in Calgary where Stampede Wrestling was a Saturday afternoon staple. That was where the roots of the modern-day wrestling came from, with the Hart Foundation being the ring heroes. I move to the Ozarks and end up in a dive bar, talking to The King, Harley Race, over a few beers. He was a local. He was pretty beat up. It maybe choreographed folks, but it's not fake.

No doubt a vanity project. What is even more hysterical is that, being who he was, he was no doubt able to go into a major studio and get studio musicians to back him. Can you imagine being a member of The Wrecking Crew and going into work one morning for a session and finding out you were going to play this???

Believe it or not I've seen this performed live, not by the original band I hasten to add, but by ex-Hawkwind member Nik Turner's new wave/punk band Inner City Unit. There's even evidence on UA-cam of this strange period! That's Nik with the natty quiff on vocals. It was also covered by those Surf Punk legends, The Cramps, who I hope to see pop up on your channel at some point if we're going down that strange road.
