      Young trill you can do it gradually that's what I did. I wasn't gonna walk around bald headed so I cut a couple inches every now and then. And then once my undamaged hair was shoulder length I cut off all the damage.

    • @anderiafrank4116
      @anderiafrank4116 7 років тому +9

      Young trill I cut off my waist length relaxed hair to go natural. I figured I would never go natural if I held on to my relaxed hair. I tried to transition and 6 months in I relaxed it. So for me I knew I had to just cut it all of. I loved my natural hair really short. It will be 2 years in July and I went from a fade to 2 inches from full armpit length already!

      Cece bear 101 hi I have daughters and their hair was damaged from needs and now I am trying to regrow the length and thickness. I tried almost everything but I remembered how my hair grew so fast when I had to eat right during my pregnancies and hardly touched my hair. it grew pass waist and it was so thick. my husband's cousin took care of it twice a month and the style was always the same up in a bun.

    her hair is so beautiful! I have been natural for 13 years and now have WLH. In the beginning for the first 5 years of my journey I continued to color and flat iron my hair. I thought since I did not have a relaxer that I could still color and flat iron my hair . I rarely conditioned my hair. My hair reached armpit length and stopped. I started watching natural hair videos around my 6th year on how to take care of your natural hair so I stopped the coloring which was thinning my hair an occasionally flat iron my hair and I made sure I dc my hair weekly and my hair is growing like crazy and getting fuller too. I do take a hair vitamin. I have a mixture of textures from 3b to 4b. Thanks for theses tips/products I wish I had known them when I first started. Great video!

    why is the hair by your neck so short??

    • @racquelstewart
      @racquelstewart  7 років тому +39

      Cheryl C because during my transition i occasionally put weave in and foolishly left the edges and crown out! Then I would straighten the edges to match the hair which in turn caused heat damage!!! I talk about it more in my curly hair routine which will be up shortly :) xxx

    • @racquelstewart

      tristin suzanne hey! No as long as you choose a conditioner that doesn't contain silicone. Silicone will coat the hair and make it greasy whereas silicone free conditioner will actually nourish the hair as opposed to just coat it. SouthernBelle323 Sorry I'm so late, but technically Americans have an accent. It just doesn't sound really special to us because most Americans have a general American accent that we're used to hearing. I have a bit of a South Jersey accent (not to be confused with a stereotypical Jersey accent - literally almost no one from New Jersey talks like that) even though it's not that strong. I'm constantly reminded that I don't pronounce water correctly (I pronounce is as worder). 😂

  • @maryapatterson

    I too have mega dry hair. I would reccomend the Giovanni shampoos and conditioners. I don't know whether you have a whole foods near you, but they do the holiday size of Giovannis, so you can try it out. Also Body shop banana shampoo and conditioner is very moisturing and worth a go. I think you can get samples as well. My hair is low porosity and hates coconut oil. So I don't use any product which contain coconut oil. Try it as an experiment, your hair will not be so dry because even though coconut oil is not a protein, it unfortunately acts like one.

    My hairs very damaged
    When I was little my hair had a lot of loose curls as I got older I used to blow dry it straight and then finish it off with a straightener.
    Now when I leave my hair natural it's a loose wave with some straight frizzy bits. I don't think my hairs naturally like yours I'm pretty sure my hair has some kind of tight wave/loose curl. I'm going to stop straightening for a month and see what happens

    Hi there I have the Shea Moister shampoo had it for about a month now. I have 3 questions to ask if you don't mind answering it.
    1) How many (Weeks, or Months) did it take for you to see results using the Shea Moister shampoo?
    2) What Conditioner do you recommend for heat damage?
    3) What oils do you recommend for hair growth?

    • @racquelstewart
      @racquelstewart  7 років тому

      Hey! Course I don't mind answering :)
      1) It took me about 3 months of consistent shampoo and conditioning (including hair masks) before I started seeing proper results.
      2) I tend to jump from conditioner to conditioner however i seem to always go back to Mixed chicks deep nourishing conditioner and I Dove conditioners!!!
      3) When I do hair masks (usually shea moisture but I also like to mix it up) I also add my own oils to it. - Coconut oil and mixed chicks replenishing oil and sleep with it in my hair until the following morning.
      Hope that helps :) xxx

    Girl I had to cut my damaged hair to my ears. After a year it grew to half way down my back almost, but I never went for a trim. My hair dresser cut it to just past my shoulders last week. I’m just so disappointed that in a year I only gained 4 inches of hair growth after dead ends. I miss my hair being to my waist before I bleached it etc. I rarely use heat on my hair and only wash it about twice a week. Any tips?

    Have you tried the camille rose line yet? The lady who started it off came to the hair show in Islington in May. She had run out of lines by the time I got there, she had no idea how popular her line was. Oh Gurrrl, especially that moisturing milk is so good esspecially when you have just finished washing your hair and its dripping .A nice squirt of that stuff and then for me a little oil to lock it all in. Shea motions products are not under percent what they say they are. For instance like there black African soap black African soap isn't actually black. Black African soap is not actually black like Shea moistures is and it's not hard either it's actually pretty soft

    • @morenamamii559
      @morenamamii559 7 років тому +1

      Bella Monroe exactly. I bought a pound of it like last month and cut it up into bars, and when i use it it breaks apart so easily i keep the soap and little pieces in a container. I thinl its weird they call it black soap and its not black , its like a brownish color and not even a solid brown it looks weird.

      right. There is another brand that got sued for not being organic like they claim. • @racquelstewart

      Jada Johnson i occasionally use eggs as a protein treatment. If you have a full bald spot is that due to heat damage? Or has it just randomly fallen out? You need to stimilate the hair follicles and also diet is important! So oil head massages and eating clean as well as having amino acids which helped me!!! Xx

      Hi Rachel Malasa 😊 yes I did protective styles over the 2 years including - buns (see latest video), French plaits, and weave. A lot of my hair had straight bits but personally I couldn't bring myself to chop it all off in one go as I wouldn't really be able to do any hairstyles with short hair. Instead I trimmed it monthly until all the damaged hair was gone. I also worked on the damaged bits by conditioning it frequently etc and some of my curls regained which allowed me to keep a lot of the length. And thank you for the lovely compliment 😊 and your English is perfect 😊 xxx

      Racquel Stewart i wash it about every 10 days, I havent used any heat in 9 months and I cut off all my heat damamge, I condition every 3 days and i read somewhere to stay away from oils because they may moisturize your hair but they do not hydrate it. Alana Johnson don't give up! It took me a while before I found products that worked for me! Coconut oil for me has personally worked you could put it in at nights and wash it out with conditioner in the morning so it doesn't weigh it down. OR I really do suggest just buying the raw ingredients as it seems like your hair is rather sensitive. So you could get the pure Jamaican castor oil and the pure apple cider vinegar and see how that goes? Xxx
