To be fair, at that time memes weren't really as common to be referenced in cartoons, and Rick Rolling was a long-running gag on the internet. I actually still even see it in ads today, as I literally just saw it being promoted for a bag of chips a few seconds ago (people like it because it's nostalgic now). Now that the internet has gotten larger and has become a part of our everyday lives, with information running a lot faster, things are way more different. In all honesty, I sort of miss the days when that wasn't the case, and we were all gullible to actually question whether or not stupid lost episode cartoon creepypastas are real. Now any random Joe can just ask the creator on Twitter and potentially get an answer quickly or inevitably with the campiness lost.
