We've tried full length floor trays to clean up the air and even a lip under the nose cone to create a lower pressure at Team Gaffa over the years to our Prokart Endurance karts over the years Sam to absolutely no avail. Only thing the full length did was make it torsionally stiffer which slightly changed the handling and in the end we just made a thin H plate between 4 of the floor tray pickup points that made the front handle a bit better on older chassis. I am not sure we ever make the speeds that gives much benefit from aero? Even a big foot nassau only seems to keep your feet dry at our level.
@@Wolemid it was even tested on a KZ chassis, 5 kilos lighter than KZ2, during free practice ahead of the World championship at Portimao. But won't be put in for the racing, also due to tricky weather conditions
I do worry about the cost of everything. Adding aero to karts is just making everything more expensive, and if you don't buy the newest stuff, you won't be competitive. Karting is already becoming harder and harder to access :/
So the seat is higher ?guy looks like he is sitting higher Right cuz usually the seat scraping. But it has a flat bottom ;time 3:13. it's more of a front diffuser. Sick tho. Who hast thought that am I right!
We played around with running twin floor trays, shaped like a wedge (wide entry channeling down to thin) but the is the first time I’ve seen full sculpture
Ban it and stop this nonsense. The curved front bumper linking to the nose panel is fine as it protects the drivers feet more but we cannot go down this route with grass sports level
A waste of time, karts are far to small for any aero advantage. Long track for sure, they are at speeds where the aero actually has drag affect but what you have shown here, a waste of money
@@KyleStrycharz You speaking about drafting, anything that goes through the air will make a hole in the air ,undertray is there to reduce drag, supposedly and make downforce, which will add drag and take horsepower. Reduce overall mass then you go faster.
What do you think of this new aero phenomenon coming to karting? 0:35

How incredible is it that you can increase the performance of a racing go kart! Most people will never drive anything quicker
These are KZ2 karts which are the fastest short circuit karts you can get!

I love it. It will add stability in faster corners
I should in theory. But in reality I don’t think it will

The cost of karting is spiralling. I do have a gut feeling that these will be banned after this weekend. But I could be wrong
Martin Hines would approve ❤
It’s going to need a sticker that says use less kerb 😂
😅
That looks like a layer of Kevlar to me which should keep it from dropping pieces

I'm suppirsed it hasn't came sooner

On my tracks it will be allowed regardless of FIA rules.
Some tracks are lucky like that!
my track is the same. They also allow coolant instead of just distilled water.
Floor tray will need replacing on a regular basis 🤔💸💸
Well you know what they say….
Me neither but you know it will be expensive

💯
what do you mean by "grass sports level"?
@@sixteenornumber meant grass roots.
Ban carbon fiber and just make it plastic. Cost issue solved. Safety issue solved.
Like the old Nylon Track Rods we used to use?
They allow glass already don't they. I don't see the difference.

I agree, certainly for short circuit karting is a waste. Portimao is a huge track though so could be for a one of event
Obviously never raced LO206....

It's going to be like winglets on small jets. They could just use longer wings but winglets make them look sporty.
