@@Retiredmco Thank you for agreeing with me... And not saying " oh this get bad gas mileage" Like people tell me with my classic car. I tell them how many miles per gallon you get with that escalade or expedition.
@Ralph Abreu By this time Cadillac has cheapened these cars so much it was crazy. Build quality was not very good . Compare this car to a Fleetwood of a decade earlier and the cost cutting would be obvious. They did , however, succeed in getting the car into the hands of more people financially. However, luxury buyers dont want to see everyone with the products they want. Exclusivity is key. During this time Mercedes benz had really started to take off in the United States. And some say Mercedes has started to appeal to a clientele that is not in a luxury class and that it will hurt their image as well
@@turnne Mercedes Benz are good cars if you lease then You Don't want to own one outright because as it ages it will run into a lot of money to continue to have it roadworthy. The above Cadillac didn't need that could run forever with a tune up ,oil change and maybe one idler arm (suspension part) that's it. Mary Barra needs to bring back real Cadillac Not plastic fantastic car's and SUVs of today.
I had a white Brougham Delegance years ago. That's when a Caddy was a Caddy! Although I was surprised to hear that this one had power steering and power brakes! Lol!!
Nice!! Last of the no compromise behemoth American Luxury car!!. It went down hill starting with the 77 year when the models were only 80% of the 76 ( 425 vs 500 cu in engine, less length, width etc at a higher cost). No question, this 76 is the last pure American Luxury Caddi
I sat in one of these back in 1976. That is a real American car. Not the stuff we seen today made of plastic. Everything became flimsy now… cars, refrigerators, washing machines, etc.
Wow...I remember a friend of mine in the late 80's bought one of these for $500. Paint was oxidized /dull I remember because it was an original Texas car, but otherwise very clean with a sunroof and everything worked
did not have headlight dimmer as many broughams had. I know the 75 d'Elegance had elk grain roof. This one does too. 75 Brougham had the other type slick vinyl top. so do we know if this car has the right top. Has radiator been replaced with aluminum instead of stock.
It's too bad that GM cheapened out on real wood. It's a beautiful car, in one way you got to love these cars, they are so over the top. They might not be great wonders of engineering, but they had bling. I had a 68 Sedan De Ville, it was a great car, but I was also a frequent visitor to the gas station. Highway miles 10 mpg, city 6mpg and in the winter it got worse.
This is the Jimmy Hoffa movie car not, it looks like something from a funeral home in 1977. Definitely from up North you certainly won't want to drive that in Miami. I would definitely remove the beaded catalytic converter. The only downside to a 1976 Cadillac versus a 1977 when they downsized them if there's not enough zinc in the steel and they tend to rust. The big Improvement in 1977 when they made the car slightly smaller was the much more rust resistant bodies. If driven slowly for a long period of time like a funeral procession the 76 tended to overheat. They would definitely go 150 mph if you kept your foot to the floor the food ornament was fold back and traffic would become a blur. You couldn't identify or on the interstate as you were weaving between the random cars.
NOW THAT'S A REAL CADILLAC 💯💯💯
Mary Barra, this is what a luxury car and Cadillac should be
Not today's plastic fantastic car's.
FACT'S 💯👊

That is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. 😍
At 2:35 there is a script badge on the trunk "by Chesapeake." Is that dealer installed or a factory option package?

find an original brass and copper radiator for a car that nice - the China made aluminum and plastic doesn't cut it - detracts from the originality.
See kids? When you insult boomers, these are the cars we built...too bad for you.
Beautiful omg freaking GOD best blk reflection 🪞 of me

Top speed for these cars was about 115 mph
