That's a hell of a vid! I definitely have to give Knights of the Old Republic a try one day. Really hoping that remake actually happens and that they do it justice. Also thanks for putting Pentiment back on my radar.
Thank you Wolf!
Nice to see support!
I’m outraged! You didn’t include/underrated ! You’ve ruined my childhood, curved my spine, and caused me to lose all faith in humanity.
😂😂
Great list. Loved all the games I have played from the list (with the exception of KQVI XD) and added the few that I hadn't to be played in the coming year. There is a lesser known game series called "Geneforge" you might want to check out if you have not already. It's a single dev oldschool CRPG where you play as a Shaper that creates creatures to help them survive and eventually thrive in the chaotic and dangerous environments you find yourself in. I also noticed no mention of Arcanum and while that is a very old game, (BG1 era) it is definitely worth going back for if you have never experienced it. It has a very unique setting with technology emerging in a fantasy world and starting to push the supernatural elements of the world out. In a fairly literal sense, technology disrupts the effects of magic, so you end up with situations like a steam train that has a special car that you are required to ride on if you are a spell caster so that you don't cause the train to die mid transit and many other crazy world elements that I'll refrain from mentioning. It is the closest thing to date that I have seen of a setting that tries sincerely to examine what a world would look like when steampunk exists in the same world as fantasy.
One other throwback title that might be of interest in Wizardry 8. I am less confident in recommending it because I know you are less interested in tough games and Wizardry 8 is absolutely brutal and creating a powerful character to meet that challenge is not optional, (and requires research) but the setting is extremely unique and the combat system itself is unlike any other that exists to my knowledge. I'm not sure I would recommend a full playthrough, but I would recommend dipping your feet to see if it's for you or not.
Glad you enjoyed the list. I have never played Arcanum and it's absolutely on my list of must play games.
Huge fan of your channel got into pathfinder wotr recently and your videos are extremely helpful and always make me excited to try new things in the game hope you continue to grow and succed 🙏🏾
Thank you I appreciate it!
That video is a great resume of so many games I love. Thanks for the amazing work.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for your hard work on this!
Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed the content! :)
Loved your list brother, appreciate all you do!
It's nice to see such a mix of timeless classics and fresh faces here. Every calendar year we've lived through has something great in it.
Yup I agree!
Great list! I have enjoyed your channel for a while now and it was nice to learn more about the kinds of games you like. Mass Effect is my favorite game series of all time as well!
Awesome thank you!
awesome list, I feel like it could've been mine as well. Keep up with the great work!
Thank you!
Very good list dude!
Thank you!
Absolutely love the list. My top 10 is pretty much the same except with legend of heros trails series in it. Fell in love with that series 6 years ago on a slow gaming year and have never looked back. Love your content which helped me so much when i first started out playing wrath of the righteous.
Awesome glad you enjoyed the video!
This is one of the best videos about games I've ever seen in my life. Congratulations my dear. You have my deep admiration. 😌🙏🏻
Really great list, all my favorites were on this list at a high number 🎉❤
Awesome glad to hear it!
Thank you for giving a shoutout to "Banner Saga", I think it's very underappreciated for how good it is!
Me too, that's why I plan to play it on the channel.
Great list Unc. Catch you again in the next one.
Thank you!
I can't believe I bought Baldur's Gate 2 at a huge discount at a Half Priced Books one day about a year after it came out. I was shocked at how amazing it was even though i played the first one, it never stood out for me. It's really a miracle I found it at that price at that place. Im pretty sure it was used when i bought it.
Great Video. I think I'd have my top 10 a little bit differently, but I can't argue with where you've got your games.
Awesome. What's your top 10?
@@SlanderedGaming
Here's my list for the RPG/CRPG space.
10. Citizen Sleeper
9. Roadwarden
8. Pillars of Eternity 2
7. Deus ex Human Revolution
6. Divinity Original Sin 2
5. Baldur's Gate 3
4. Mass Effect 2
3. The Witcher 3
2. Disco Elysium
1. Baldur's Gate 2
Amazing video! Watching this brought back alot of good memories. I may have to finally finish pillars of eternity 1 & 2 since I never beat either of them.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great list tbh 🔥
I was surprised to see Dragon Age: inquisition so high up on your list! Pleasantly surprised mind you, I think that game gets a lot of undeserved hate. The Trespasser DLC is IMO one of the single greatest pieces of DLC ever made for a game. Great list, this must have taken a lot of work!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!
Great video............ Best hour I've spent all week. 👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the list. Subscribed! On a personal note, I am in the camp that actually likes marvel's midnight suns writing 😅
Welcome to the channel! I am glad somebody liked that writing! 😂😂
Great video!
Love your content and just sub'd when I saw your Tyranny livestream. What originally pulled me in was your WotR Mythic Path breakdown video.
Working on Rogue Trader at the moment and enjoying it for sure, but doesn't quite have the magic that Wrath does.. at least thus far. I've got a long way to go with RT for sure.
I'm also working on Witcher 1 as well at the moment, with despite its age - is shockingly good.
Keep going strong and thank you for what you do!
Thank you and welcome to the channel!
appreciate the list. love the honesty. something kinda rare on youtube!
Only thing I'd say, other than, mass effect #1? really? haha, is divinity: original sin 1 has some of the best combat ever, Icewind Dale 2 is also missing, and Solasta is underrated. But we all have our personal preferences :)
So, um, I bought three games while watching this and found out Kingdom Hearts is coming to Steam. I loved watching you break down the Mythic Paths and companions of WotR. Subbed!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
Good list!
Thank you!
Great list boss!
Thank you!
You haven't played the orignal Deus Ex ?! It's a masterpiece worthy of being in the top 5 of your list and especially for CRPG lovers like us. It's also very similar to Vampire bloodlines the masquerade
Nice. That's a game I'll have to add to the list.
Been waiting for this one, Top 50 list time!
Side note: Who ever pushed you to play Underrail should be awarded a medal of honor.
Underrail is a game so unapologetic with it's brutality and harshness and a wonderful experience that makes you work for your rewards.
That's what I keep hearing about the game so looking forward to playing it!
good stuff my boy. I know how much work and time you had to have put into making this video
Thank you brother I appreciate you.
Excellent video as always and loved to hear you opinions on these wonderful games, especially Mass Effect. It is honestly a game series that every RPG fan should try and I guarantee they will enjoy it from 1-3. Hopefully we see the new Mass Effect revitalize this series and BioWare can reclaim their mantle as one of the best RPG studios in the business.
Thanks. I have high hopes for the next ME game.
Thanks for the video
My pleasure!
Only a shame I can subscribe but once. Good list, thanks for the walk down memory lane ^_^
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Absolutely banger video. Put some games on my radar.
You mention 2024 as a light year. Keep an eye on New Arc Line. Its a crpg and spiritual succesor to arcanum. Could be incredible.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yup I joined the New Arc Line discord and am definitely looking forward to it.
YEEEEEESSSS!!! I knew it! Just finished my first ever full Mass Effect playthrough, and it is the best game ever. My list would be quite similar, but I would put kingmaker, BG3 and SWTOR higher, cause I ve never played dragon age or wicher. And I actually loved kingdom and crusade menegement. My ranking has Far cry 5 in it also.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
MY list is so much longer since i've been gaming since i was little but it is a good list. i agreed with most of it. my 70 year old dad called mass effect 3's ending a 'cop out'. he wanted so much more out of it. Heres to hoping mass effect 4 is good.
Yeah it would be nice for ME4 to be a return to form.
I rather liked Mass Effect: Andromeda’s gameplay, but holy cats I hated so much of the dialogue and story. And in an RPG that’s a hell of a kneecapping. And I must admit that the novelty of the response wheel has worn off, I’d like more control back over the dialogue.
@@kingleech16 100% agree. that last bit was part of what they were trying to overcome but they fumbled too hard for it to even matter.
Good video I would agree with most. I would also include Original Deus Ex and System Shock 2. Along with Kotor 1 and 2 and Thief 1, those were my early 2000’s crpg go to’s Played the heck out of all of them.
I never played System Shock but it just got a remake I was thinking about going through.
@@SlanderedGamingYah it’s very atmospheric. I mostly played the 2nd one. I know they are remaking that one as well. You spend the first half trying to avoid combat if you can and figure out what’s going on. It’s very unique and interesting. I can tell you will enjoy it by the other games you listed :)
I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite ranking video on UA-cam.
Thank you!!
Hah, Pillars of eternity one was also the first CRPG i ever played and i think i've spend hundreds of hours reading every single text. And then when i noticed the sequel, my god that was soo much fun.But i kinda liked the ship combat it isn't groundbreaking, but i do find it in working condition and it is nothing complicated. And then when i discovered WOTR, my god i can't reach act 3 without restarting and creating a new character that i think is cooler.I have a similar problem with BD3.
Thanks for the comentary provided for each of the games as well!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!
I'm looking forward to playing some games on this list like solista, Rogue trader and bg3.
Nice hope you like them!
Solid list. Didn't watch the whole video, but basically just skimmed the list. I haven't played all of the CRPGs on the list, but there ae some I have will get to eventually!
I'm guessing you still haven't played Planescape: Torment yet? Cause I think that would likely make your top list when you do.
The THAC0 system in BGII is just a matter of equipping armor that gives higher - or, rather, lower - Armor Class (AC) to make you harder to hit. Also, the only real "builds", in a sense, besides maybe with High Level Abilities, in the classic BG series comes in the form of equipment than anything; things like rings that give you useful passive abilities, armor that gives you protections from certain enemy attacks, and dual-wielding weapon combinations that give you extra power. There's quite a bit to learn, but I think you could easily figure out what's the best equipment for your char's specific class and how to easily counter certain enemy monsters.
Nope I haven't played it yet but I plan to. People keep saying Torment has the best story in a video game.
I'll be looking forward for a repeat of this list in a few years if only to see if Rogue Trader climbed up near WotR once fully realized with patches and DLCs.
Yup I'll probably circle back to it in 2-3 years.
You are gonna love Xcom. Start with the first of the latest two, then go through xcom 2, then war of the chosen. Incredible expansion of the core ideas
Nice I heard Xcom is where a lot of the tactical games started so looking forward to experiencing it.
I really enjoyed Sovereign Syndicate. AAA quality world-building and writing. So good, I'd love to see a full-on AAA quality RPG in that world, written by the same team. Yeah, the graphics are nothing to really write home about (although I think that an unlocked camera would have done the game wonders), and they have to re-use locations multiple times, but, it's an indie. Well worth playing regardless.
Understanding the small budget of an indie, I have one criticism -- they should have done more of the comic panels. Where they were used, they really helped give life to the narrative, and the art style was perfect. They just weren't used enough. If they were going to refine anything about the game on a low-budget, it would be that. Go add those in liberally to most important conversations and events. I know I saw the dev team talk about voice acting, but unless they're going to get some BG3 quality voice acting, it isn't really going to make the game any better.
I started my playthrough thinking I'd have the most fun with Atticus (the minotaur), but in the end I had the most fun with Clara (the, uh, member of the world's oldest profession).
Wait, one more criticism -- they didn't make enough of Attcus's substance abuse issues. It would have been a blast if the game measured his level of drunkenness / highness off laudanum and adjusted his dialogue accordingly.
I agree more should have been made of Atticus' struggles.
I probably should stop watching these kind of lists with the Steam Spring Sale starting today... haha!
But thanks alot for many great suggestions!
"Troubleshooter" and "Battle Brother" are games i recommend especially for you, if you have not played them.
"King Arthur: Knight's Tale" is my next, i think.
Thx again and please judge me by my bad english. I'm getting better thanks to people like you! 😉
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video!
You really should try Horizon Zero Dawn. It's arguably the best written game I've played and that includes Obsidian games which are beautifully written. People tend to discount it because, well, robot dinosaurs but damn me if the writers didn't go all out and produce a brilliant sci fi story with some of the best writing in gaming. Honestly reminds me of the great sci fi writers like Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein, Le Guin and Zelazny.
Thanks. You are not the first person to suggest it. I will definitely play it this year.
Was working while listening to this, did I miss the elder scrolls series? Not saying all should be on here, or should be in the top 10, but if not on here at all, definitely a miss
I played Oblivion and Skyrim on XBOX so I cannot comment on what kind of PC experience they provide. Never played the other Elder Scrolls games.
Any Top X list that has Vampire Bloodlines in it is a good list. Such a flawed masterpiece of a game!!
Yup really hoping the sequel does it justice!
Good video
but would have been nice to have the name of the game on the screen somewhere, not just hearing it
Understood I'll keep that in mind when I do another list.
@@SlanderedGamingthe alternative option, is writing them into a comment, bonus if you link times
It’s a damn shame about dread wolf, and BioWare in general. But I can’t bring my self to give a damn anymore.
Yeah I am pretty close to letting it go myself.
Planescape Torment, Aracnum and NWN 2 specifically Mask of the Betrayer, you missed out on. Missing those is like saying you enjoy gangster movies but you never watched Goodfellas or The Godfather. They're all influenced by them in the way that you don't know need to know the beatles to know the beatles because modern music is the beatles.
Nice those games are all on my list to play. Thank you!
@@SlanderedGaming slaaaaaander whaaaat you've never played never winter nights 2/ nor mask of the betrayer??! ;w; you can even stream those since they're voice acted, but definitely, if you can play them on your own for a more immersion please go for it. planescape and nwn2 are so good that i was shocked that i have'nt seen it on the list, until i read this comment just now lol. love you man, and great list! i myself have'nt played mass effect so the fact that its your number 1 is convincing me to try
It's such a shame that we'll likely never see a Tyranny 2 or a Pillars 3, I don't see Obsidian ever making them, and the tech and knowhow they had a few years back to make them is for sure slipping fast.
I am still holding out for Pillars 3.
Could never play the witcher games, looks good but damn those controls are hideous. :(
You'll be able to watch me streaming them. Probably sometime next year. :)
lmao legit called me out
😂😂
Skyrim is only amazing because of mods. The base game is mediocre at best. The only thing that really stands out about Skyrim is the incredible amount of exploration and discovery. The story is bland, and the combat is terrible.
voice acting ruins great stories
Since when does this overhyped dating simulator called bg3 count as an cpg?
I see BG3 is not your cup of tea. 😂😂
If your so emotionally pent up and only see it only as a dating sim and not for the, characters stories, Customerization, overall story, music, graphics, combat systems, build variety and other elements that make up cpc's you need to get out of your mother's basement more and join the real world.
Combat system is boring, I play this game on tactical and most fights are done with two turns, characters in this game are nothing new, we all see this archetypes before. Atmosphere of the game is same as a summer musical camp with no sense of doom on the horizont. Original BG and BG2 SoA+ToB have way better atmosphere and suck you in to the story way better. This game don't deserve it's name.
+ build variety? Are you for real? You choose subclass once 3 perks per levels and that it? You don't need multi class becouse again, combat is for people like you who are not crpg players.
@@stevenwoodward5923 That response was a bit much. It’s ok if people don’t like BG3. Larian is already getting well rewarded for their hard work on that game. You don’t have to go so hard trying to defend the game by insulting others.
The only one I really disagree with is Dragon Age 2. That was a barely passible game made appauling by daring to use the Dragon Age name. To be on a list near games like Portal is laughable.
