I never wanted to like Prince Charles, but this series has made it impossible not to sympathize with him. Great work to the writers and the actor! Not an easy task.
It truly shows that being king or queen isnt just a privallge but the biggest burden you could ever be born with. He had no choice who he married and what he did with his life. But he has had that English stiff upper lip and served his mother and Queen. And although he's probably not going to actually be king for ver long. If you acctually research him he does amazing things for all sorts of people and nations. He deserves to be king.
It speaks for the genius of the filmmakers. The monologue from Richard II fits so perfectly to Charles. "I live with bread like you". It is so moving. The light, the music. Perfect. It is almost uncanny. As if Shakespeare had explicitly written it for Charles, or for the use in this film. The actor is just brilliant. I bet he will become the next best Sherlock Holmes. He´d be perfect in that role.
yes actor is wonderful. It is pity that game of thrones is over, he would made some nice character there-). Or Richard the III may be, however he looks bit less evil than canonical Richard the III.
The scene right before this where Queen Elizabeth says that NO ONE wants to hear Charles’s voice and then repeats the no one kills me, and then this scene is just the perfect way to end the episode in my opinion. It may be my favorite episode of the series. Nobody in this family can help that they were born into this family.
this performance had EMMY written all over it! Fantastic. The entire scene from her detachment to his quiet resigned acceptance is one of the shows best!
This scene is acted perfectly! Josh O'Conner did a good job of quoting Shakespeare and made it so impactful! Also, the end of the scene is focused on his face's closeup and he looks kind of hurt, sad, and vengeful, which is foreshadowing his character turn over the series. Simply amazing.
All murder’d: for within the hollow crown That rounds the mortal temples of a king Keeps Death his court and there the antic sits, Scoffing his state and grinning at his pomp, Allowing him a breath, a little scene, To monarchize, be fear’d and kill with looks, Infusing him with self and vain conceit, As if this flesh which walls about our life, Were brass impregnable, and humor’d thus Comes at the last and with a little pin Bores through his castle wall, and farewell king! Cover your heads and mock not flesh and blood With solemn reverence: throw away respect, Tradition, form and ceremonious duty, For you have but mistook me all this while: I live with bread like you, feel want, Taste grief, need friends: subjected thus, How can you say to me, I am a king?
Excellent actor that took his role as Charles exceptionally seriously! This take from the play expressed Charles' woes and single desire moreso than any other passage in the series. Literally, a peek that exposed an entire soul.
haven't seen much Richard performances but this is probably my second best after Ben Wishaw in hollow crown, how can they make it feel so "real" as if it is physically hurting them 😖 What's Hecuba to him, or he to Hecuba.
You are good man Charles I like you I felt the same rejection when I grew up you were builled by the radicail one sided media there are two sides to every story you will be king I like you. Give him a break he is a Greifing man as well. #deffendtherealm, #Charleshasfellings#kingoppiontedbyGod
Bro you do realise the English throne and the idea of England was created by Alfred the Great. Although he didn't manage to furfill his dream his son carried on that dream then eventually Alfred's grandson. Athelstan became the frist King of engalnd. In my opinion tho Alfred is a king of England it was his dream he created it as before England was split into 4 kingdoms and he and his son fought the vikings to the death to make it happen. I consider Alfred the greatest king in our history he and his men fought so hard to keep the country from falling completely to viking rule and he was ver very successful in battle. Just remember the Kings before Edward the confesur because arguebly we wouldn't be here without them 3

Beautiful. Uncanny was the word I was I was looking for …
Well said. Hopefully the King is enjoying his reign
this young man will winn some day an Oscar. Well done,Josh!
this performance had EMMY written all over it! Fantastic. The entire scene from her detachment to his quiet resigned acceptance is one of the shows best!
I think this is perhaps my favorite episode and scene in the entire show
'You have but mistook me all this while' such a powerful scene
This scene is acted perfectly! Josh O'Conner did a good job of quoting Shakespeare and made it so impactful! Also, the end of the scene is focused on his face's closeup and he looks kind of hurt, sad, and vengeful, which is foreshadowing his character turn over the series. Simply amazing.
There’s a new film production of Romeo and Juliet starring Josh Charles and he does a wonderful job in it.
The light on his face after "farewell king", casting a shadow. The ambivalence of his smile...
Gosh, for a moment this mesmerising performance from Josh O’Connor made me feel for Charles. Josh, you are TOO good.
A more fitting monologue I’m not sure I’ve seen. Outstanding!!!
1:42 good detail, the lady notices that the princess was sitting next to her.
no corners cut on this show
As many times as I have watched this scene I failed to notice this! Truly the definition of attention to detail.
Unbelievable. This stunned me in my solitude. O'Connor and the director hit a grand slam. Even Ann's lean-in to be more attentive was great.
My favorite episode of Series 3.
I live with bread like you, feel want, taste grief, need friends, subjected thus. How can you say to me that I am king?

Best scene in the whole series
now he has the crown
Goosebumps.
The last few lines of this speech are the best I've seen them done.
I love ChArles and Anne ' s relationship.

What's Hecuba to him, or he to Hecuba.
This scene always makes me feel for him but then he turns around and treats Diana the way he does.
He loved another person, it sucked so bad for both of them :(
Good luck Charles
Can we just take time out to appreciate that mans is playing a prince who's playing a king if that's not some inception acting shit.
This isn't believable because nobody in the audience is coughing.

It's Shakespeare at his best. Would help much if the sound is fixed particularly at the beginning.
Does anyone happen to know the name of the music piece in this scene?
Anyone know the song/music in this scene
What is the song in the background? What version is it
I like prince charles
Josh O'Connor is playing both King Charles and King Richard at the same time.
Soundtrack name?
For a second I thought that was Glenn Howerton from Always Sunny
That's the implication
music?
Darude
Let's talk of graves, of worms and epitaphs
A penny for Annes thoughts?
