Definitely enjoyed writing this piece, since I specialize in making anything other than melodramatic music for work. Hope everyone enjoys the video and get something out of it. I’ll try to answer questions from the comment section or my email (description) if there’ll be any from now on. Feel free to ask me anything!
CSB Review:
Keep in mind that the review only reflects my own opinion and preference. I am not a tech wizard so I can’t go into the specific. I am only representing myself as a composer from a practical standpoint.
“Cinematic Studio Brass” personally is probably the most disappointing library among the Cinematic Studio Series. For clarification, “CSB” is an amazing library! however, the out of the box experience was not as great as the other libraries in the series.
First of all, as always, the legato patch for each instrument is just amazing. The only complaint I have for the legato patch is probably not having any midi control for vibrato, just to give that extra detail for realism. Everything else relating to midi controls is phenomenon.
One fundamental problem I have with this library is with the tone of the brass instruments. The tone is way too specific for its “proper use.” It blends with "CSS" and "CSW" very well, but it blends with them too well. What happens when they blend in too well? You cannot highlight any contrapuntal line for any of the brass instruments. It’s like trying to sign a document with watercolor paint when you needed a pen. (Or maybe I’m just not good at mixing, so don’t quote me on this. Go check out other demos that is specifically for "CSB" and judge for yourself)
How do you solve this problem then? Luckily SampleModeling Brass (SMB) and "CSB" is a perfect combination. Whatever "CSB" lacks, "SMB" covers for it. Whatever "SMB" lacks, "CSB" covers for it. In conclusion, if you want to squeeze out all the potential that "CSB" has, use "SMB" along with it.
Also, the video only presents what these libraries sound like after some simple mixing. To be frank, some of them sound horrible out of the box. If you don’t want to mess with any midi programming and tiny bit of mixing, it’s definitely not for you.
Please don't stop composing & posting, you're really good!
all your compositions arr litterally so good please upload more haha
Beautiful job ! Would like to see more in depth of what you did. Reverbs, Stacks or layers of different of libraries etc.
this is absolutely nuts im so happy youtube recommended this to me, i love it!
incredible...
Amazing, well done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very nice. Thanks for this.
Great composition!
Nice composition.
Great melody!)
Beginning reminds me exactly if End of Eternity’s main theme!
You are a god.
You just hacked the most beautiful combination I recently did it too. Amazing work keep on HHUUUUGEEE LIKE from me
Can you explain how to combine csb and smb??? sound is so amazing !!!
Can you do this type of video for your old clieche one please so can see the parts ?
This reminds me of monster hunter somehow lol. I want more!
🤩👏👏👏👏
Can you make a tutorial video for this project? Please!!!!
Hi ! mindblowing Job ! I'm about to make a Template using Cinematics Series stuff. i'd like to know which level to set to blend perfectly Strings, Woodwinds and Brass. I Saw people put the Brass at -9 db and the string at 0db. What do you think about that ? And for the Woodwinds ? . Thanks in advance !
This such amazing work! 👏If I may ask did you do any special handling to CSS to make them sound brighter and more defined like they do here?
Sorry for late reply! I heavily relied on using in CSS to make it sound more "crispy." However, I did have different mic setting for different parts. E.G. more close mic mix in tutti parts, and less close mic mix in parts that is led by the strings section.
@@musicalilliterate4460 Thank you for the clarification! Can't wait for more of your content! 🙏
Sounds awesome!
How did you create this kind of depth while keeping the sound of the samples so krisp and clear? Did you use an special plugin or just reverb?
And which one exactly?
He just orchestrated elements really good 😊
This is soo good man. I wished I was able to compose this. 👍 I released a new track which its inspired by Studio Ghibli (Joe Hisaishi). 👍
How.
Hi @XuMuSuke, do you have any issues with the different delay embedded in the legato patch? I see you might have quantized the brass to the grid. Do you use a script to do the variable offset? Many thanks in advance for your reply.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I personally try to avoid using different legato speeds when it comes to making a project this big. From my personal experience, I always run into some kind of error when I try to blend different legato speeds together; it could be due to my CPU not being able to process loading too many samples at once, I don't know if other csb users have such problem. Lastly, I don't use any script for any of my projects :)
@@musicalilliterate4460 Thanks for your reply! I will probably do the same - the technicalities of nudging and editing really reduces inspiration when writing :)
Great writing. It was kind of hard to tell but are you layering SM and CSB together or mixing them? For example 1st chair trumpet is CSB solo and 2/3 chairs are sample modeling or something like that?
i'm layering both VSTs. so basically 3 individual chairs on SM layered with CSB "2 trumpets" patch.
This sounds truly immaculate!
I hate to be that guy being picky especially a year later, but i think your legatos go on a tad bit too long, which makes it sound a bit more synthetic and non-realistic. But otherwise it sounds amazing!
How much does it cost to make this
lol, a lot
Why did you use sample modeling, Aaron ventures is way better haha
I know LOL!!!! I wish I knew about aaron ventures earlier
@@musicalilliterate4460 But from realism i still like the tone of SM more, but you cant get shorts sounding good, for legato its okay but still very difficult to place in a mix:D
