- Rooty Toot Toot is a 1951 black comedy musical animated short film, directed by John Hubley. It was released by Columbia Pictures and produced by UPA. In 1994 it was voted #41 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field.
It received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1951, but lost out to Tom and Jerry's 6th award-winning cartoon The Two Mouseketeers. Annette Warren provides the voices of both Frankie and Nelly Bly. Thurl Ravenscroft is the voice of Johnny and Honest John the Crook.

Very sophisticated character design and animation in this! Wow!
Love that mid century animation style! It’s so dark, this would never make it today, but that makes it more interesting.
I would say the Spider-Verse movies are arguably the closest thing we have to UPA in the 21st century.
