Dan Kubin Tech Tip - Sidewinder Cartridge Setup

Dan demonstrates how best to setup and use a sidewinder with cartridges. In this video Dan is using a V3/23 Sidewinder, but this setup is applicable for most all DK models. The basic premise is to pull your rubber band over the top of your armature to offset the upward force of the cartridge. This can be accomplished many ways, pulling from around the motor or from the rear binder or from under the frame. Where and how you put your rubber band will depend on the rubber band thickness, personal preference and the amount of cartridge resistance. Some carts have a lot more resistance to offset than others.
Side note, Dan does prefer to use a needle on bar setup with steel tubes as they are arguably best for tattooing, but these machines are very versatile and can be used with cartridges for all types of tattooing. #workhorseirons #dankubin #tattoomachines #madeintheusa
