....and a broken lamp.....! That made me giggle.....as I glance around my own bedroom and am conscious of the stain on the carpet where the cat threw up.....just keep on , keeping it real.....we don't need another disco-ball backdrop to distract from the content....and some of us are only here for the Ikea bedside tables and broken lamp decor ideas ;)
So lovely to see you ! I love your little chats, looking forward to your content this year and to see you settle into your new home. Amazing that Ted will be one soon ! XX
My mother's been a hairdresser for decades and has always championed using facial moisturisers in the ends of your hair. I love Phyto 7 but find it does much the same thing. Also, just discovered Double Serum a few months ago - it's become an every day staple and can't imagine being without it now. Just makes skin feel instantly hydrated. Love your beauty videos and love how you are one of very few youtubers I watch who seem just as 'real', as you did when I started watching you nearly a decade ago.
Most important skin care, adequate sleep, healthy foods, adequate fluid intake, not being stressed out all the time, no smoking and drinking and avoiding too much sun.
We’ve had a new mattress for maybe coming up to six months. It’s still on the floor. We were going to make a bed out of palettes but we have not got round to it!! We also have renovations that have been waiting for years... anyway.. pleased I’m not the only disorganised one!
I'm always wanting to chant "you're my Wonderball" when you show me that curler...Andnd yes, I've been an old fan of your blog but happy to see you appreciating the classics
That Trish McEvoy eye lift concealer is gorgeous, well it helps that you are too! But what shade did you use? It looks v pink in the vid, which is what I need, but it looks more yellow online.
Ah Ruth . . . . . Thank you for always making me chuckle and given the circumstances of your year, these 17 items are definitely worth knowing about. Xx
You’re anything but boring. You’ve cheered me up, even though it’s Sunday night and I have to be up at 6am for work tomorrow. Look forward to your next vlog!
I bought the Bourjois concealer when you first recommended it last year and it has fast become one of my favourites! I use it as my more heavy duty concealer (for tough blemishes or when I have barely slept) and the Glossier one for my more easy/better skin days! Now I need to try the Trish McAvoy one! I also love your dry shampoo, I LOVE it and I like that it doesn't get too gritty or leave a white/greyish cast and the smells are epic!!!
Definitely useful and appreciated, the "most used" concept! :) Would love to have more of these. Now you got me really curious about the Darphin aromatic cleansing balm, I think I would love the scent too!!
Great too see your favorites. These Are my favorites of the year: Decleor cleansing milk( keeps my skin clear, moisturised) , Decleor Harmonie calm creme. Loreal lash pardise mascara. And rituals cleansing foam and oil- the smell really good😊👏🏻🌸
Brilliant video Ruth! I bought that Lee Stafford rude hair tool based on a previous recommendation you gave and I love it so much. If the rest of the things in this video are half as good I can't wait to try!
Happy New Year to you too Ruth! Have missed you ❤️. Love your dry shampoo. It’s the only brand I use now. Here in Canada we haven’t seen the new scents so looking forward to those popping up soon 😊.
Never boring! Always enjoy your chats. 2 questions if you have time: what's that eyeshadow you're wearing, is it a cream or a powder? It's gorgeous. And, I bought the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow in the Light shade just before Christmas. I have fair skin. But I find it hardly shows up on me, can hardly see it, yet on you it is clearly visible. Are you wearing a darker shade? Love your channel, glad you're back
Good to have you back and thanks for this nice video! Do you have experience with the brand Paula’s choice? Would be interested to have your thoughts/experience on these...
love your videos and recommendations. usually have notebook and pen handy otherwise if I'm shopping (for me) I forget and get side-tracked with the vast array of samey packaging.
Love your hair like this!! Also missed your videos SO much!! Would love more tutorials and may be a holy grail videos? Have you considered doing interviews or talks? Xx
glad to have you back, as always you look lovely! thanks for the honesty & that some of the products that have debuted over the las few years have been crap & another glitter or highlight of another.... there are tried & true products for fresh skin & I believe it starts with skincare first & foremost,! alot of young ladies need to know skincare should be first & light makeup later on. just saying.... you have always put soo much into your skincare videos & minimal beautiful makeup I could only wish some of these young ladies to find your channel & learn something! good day to you & your family!
Fab - so pleased you're back. Given that you are my expert, Ruth, can you please recommend a good body lotion, maybe one containing hyaluronic acid? Having trouble tracking one down and my parched, izard-like skin is going from dry to worse by the day...
Gosh I love your beauty videos. They are so useful and I am using many of the things you have recommended. I enjoy your gentle humour and straightforward manner. This was a great video and I have noted a couple of products. I would personally love to see what you thought were (or are) the best or most beautiful makeup products - eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, highlighters, blush etc. I’d also highly value your recommendations for instant beauty - you know, things that brighten, tighten or generally have an instant effect if you have a special occasion. I am going in search of your blog now. x
Your videos really are the most enjoyable to watch. Will definitely try the Pai blemish serum - I must be the only person who GETS breakouts from the effaclar cream. Are you planning to show more of your house? Sorry not meaning to be intrusive, I just love Georgian houses and you mentioned the tall Windows...
I’ve stopped the video less than a minute in to ask about your jumper; I love it so any details about where it is from, etc would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Always love watching your tutorials Ruth I just have a question? I just recently had my first baby and I'm still breastfeeding, and have been losely using the sunday riley luna oil but stopped it because I wasn't sure if its safe because of the retinol in it. do you know if it can affect your milk supply?
I was so excited to see a video from you! I just started using Retinal this year and my fine lines have disappeared as well, especially on my forehead. Is the dry shampoo for sale in the US? Can I purchase it from the UK? I know moving house with young children can be a challenge. I remember the master bedroom was last on the list somehow. I hope you can take one day at a time and enjoy your children. They grow up so fast. We (my husband and I) are expecting our fourth grandchild in 3 years. So, I can relate a bit to your situation :) But, Christmas was a chaotic, wonderful time. Happy New Year!!
I'm curious, what shade do you wear in the Guerlain cushion foundation? And if you've also tried the Lingerie de Peau Fluide liquid version of the foundation, do you wear the same shade in that? I've hardly seen anyone talking about the product, but I own it and absolutely love it as well (I'm just not sure if I have the perfect shade for me).
Your hair looks amazing at the moment - and you're looking lovely at the moment just generally. Where is your jumper from - I'm sure you've mentioned it before but I can't find it. thanks
I thought your hair looked great! Also give me an unmade mattress over those copycat backdrops with a lit candle in shot any day!
MsEffervescence #nomorecandles 😂
LOL!!!!!!!!! Watch me put a candle in the next one, just for you..
I greatly appreciate a focus on most used and am tired to death of new releases. Too much too often. Lovely to see you today!

Love that you're back - it's always like having a friend drop by for tea (or whatever), one with a lovely dry wit :) xo
Haha, thanks x

'...little bits.....down there...' 😂 SO many chuckles in this vid. You are SUCH a tonic, Ruth 👌🏼

Wonderful to see you back here! I love Pai, one of my favorite brands.
Because of you I gave my granddaughters the hair style. They love them. Easy to use and the curls last. So thank you for the recommendation!
I'm always wanting to chant "you're my Wonderball" when you show me that curler...Andnd yes, I've been an old fan of your blog but happy to see you appreciating the classics
Same x
Welcome back. You're looking fab. My hormones went crazy each time I weaned my babies. They settle down eventually.

Great to see you back, Ruth! Your sense of humor is sooo refreshing!!!!! Love your channel! Big hug from freezing snowy Transilvania!
Definitely useful and appreciated, the "most used" concept! :) Would love to have more of these. Now you got me really curious about the Darphin aromatic cleansing balm, I think I would love the scent too!!
These were good recommendations - thanks so much! Your look is always effortless!

Love me a bit of co-lab dry shampoo. It actually works and it actually smells good. Gets my vote every time.
I'm really loving your hair actually lol it gives you a youthful, carefree look
First time on your channel and adore how chill you are-I could listen to you talk about anything lol!
Brilliant video Ruth! I bought that Lee Stafford rude hair tool based on a previous recommendation you gave and I love it so much. If the rest of the things in this video are half as good I can't wait to try!
Co-lab really does rock, just saying. I like them all, especially the 'big hair don't care'. It's all good Ruth!
Ruth you look gorgeous you are one special gal x
Thank you Jane!
your hair looks fantastic in this video Ruth. I wish I woke up with mine looking like that!
Happy New Year to you too Ruth! Have missed you ❤️.

The Clarins Double Serum was hands down my number 1 product from last year! I love it! Also, really, really enjoyed your last blog :)
Super helpful, Ruth. Also, that length of hair is PERFECT on you. I mean really, really flattering.
Where is your sweater from?
I want to ask about the same !! ;)
It's Coco Cashmere but an old one! Sorry.. xx

This make up is to die for! You look fab. Quick question - What do you prefer - Clarins double serum or Estee Lauder advanced night repair?
Got that curling wand for Christmas after you recommended it. Looks so good on my (now) short hair and I love it x x x
You are the best! Enjoy every single video and post since years. THANKS
Thank you so much! : )
Fab - so pleased you're back. Given that you are my expert, Ruth, can you please recommend a good body lotion, maybe one containing hyaluronic acid? Having trouble tracking one down and my parched, izard-like skin is going from dry to worse by the day...
Carolyn Cross her blog has lots of recs! I *think* there's a Clairins one she likes, but I can't remember exactly the name. 😀
Oh and the almond one from L'Occitaine
I really like La Roche-Posay Lipikar, also Ameliorate is AMAZING but more for rougher skin as it exfoliates too! x
The Chemistry Brand by DECIEM hyaluronic concentrate (A big tub of hyaluronic acid).
I always look forward to your videos Ruth! Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing your most used products - very helpful!

Angela Harvey_99 did you ever find out about the jumper? I’m looking through comments trying to find the answer! 😂
I really love your top in this video. Do you mind sharing the brand?
Ruth, Carolinne Barnes explained why it's important to dab rather than swipe the concealer... ;)
Yes i love seeing most used products..great video as always...short sweet & simple.
Haha your intro was 💯 😂💕
Glad your back. Love the hair shorter! Happy New Year.
Your skin looks amazing. What foundation are you wearing?

Is the Clarins better than Estée Lauder ANR?
With the shower oil, would you just use a flannel? Do you normally use a sponge?
I d actually like to know where did you get your sweater...? Love the print and it looks so lovely on you. Thanks!
It’s SO nice to see a video from you!!! ❤️
