    Thanks for the video. I just bought one of these at HF as an open box item for 29-bucks. I couldn’t pass it up but it needs work. The pinless adapters were missing but are described in the owners manual as included. Found them online and your video helped me find the right ones. Thanks!!

    Thank you so much for this video. I had no idea how to set my harbor freight Scroll Saw up for pinless blade use but you solved the mystery. If you want to go back to pen end blade, do you just remove the two adapters that hook over the upper and lower arm brackets?

      @snapwholeharborfreightreviews  Рік тому

      that is correct, just remove the two adapters and you will be back to using pinned blades, thanks for subscribing!

    Hi!, I got this scroll saw for Christmas and have been watching u-tube videos to learn how to use it. I was happy to find this one about the adapters. My question is how do you use the blade when doing inside cuts? Do you have to take the adapter out of the saw, unscrew it put the blade through the next area to be cut, put the blade back into the adapter and then remount the adapter?

      I do this alot, you undo the set screws pull out the blade, the adapter will stay mounted on the saw, put the blade thru the work piece, the mount the blade back in the adapter by inserting the blade in the adapter and tightening the set screws, before I take the blade out of the adapter, I put a mark on the blade where it goes into the adapter to make it easier to remount it next time, thanks for subscribing!

    i the adaptor does not seem long enough for my 5inch blade to hook on the top i have done everything ive seen what can i be doing wrong its to short i bought the olson spiral tooth

      the olsen spiral tooth pinless blades? if they are 5 inch blades, they sound like pinned blades which are too short for these adapters and are used with the default pinned blade mounts - thanks for subscribing!

    Am I crazy? The adapter shouldn’t be so loose!?

      it is installed as designed, once the blade is in place, it is held steady, I have a dremel that uses the exact pinless mounts, I've used this for hours and hours, if the mounts were loose in anyway, it would be immediately apparent and the blades would not cut - thanks for subscribing!

      Appreciate it. But I just brought my Harbor Freight saw. And your video is 2 years old. No offense to you. But it would seem to me that Harbor Freight should’ve at least updated their connection for this. As mine looks like it would easily come off Again, ami crazy?

    So, could you use a file and carve a groove, and bend it to help keep the blade in place? Or use a rotary tool with a cutting blade to make a groove?

    • @snapwholeharborfreightreviews
      @snapwholeharborfreightreviews  3 роки тому +1

      I thought about cutting a grove, but the grove on the dremel was not cut, but stamped/bent in place, I was concerned if I removed material to make the groove it would get too then and fail - I think the best way to improve on what I did would be to make a retaining clip like the dremel has - thanks for subscribing!

      I have had no problems with this saw or with the pinless blade adapters, I've used it a lot since i did the conversion to pinless blades and had no problems, and I do not regret buying the saw, it is a copy of a dremel scroll saw from the 1990s - thanks for subscribing!

      @@snapwholeharborfreightreviews So what’s the difference in the blade that you use a pinless blade?

      @@segraves138 pinless blades are a lot thinner, you can cut a lot tighter radius, and they cost a lot less than regular(pinned) blades - thanks for subscribing!

    Can anyone recommend a conversion kit for a lumberjack ss406 scroll saw please

    • @snapwholeharborfreightreviews
      @snapwholeharborfreightreviews  Рік тому

      I looked at the manual and I'm not sure you need a conversion kit, on that model, I would try to mount the pinless blades between the set screws (all called grub screws), get them very tight and they should hold the blade the same way the adapters I used hold the pinless blades - look up the manual before you start to make sure you are familiar with the details of the blade holder, the pin mounts have set screws, for pinned blades, you don't need the set screws, the pins hold the blade on, that is why I think the set screws are for pinless blades - thanks for subscribers

      I was curious too so I used a tuner to check the pitch of SnapWhole’s
      last pluck. It was just a few cents shy of C#6. In other words, a tiny bit sharp of two octaves above middle C.
