  • When 3 out of 4 Labor MPs are property investors, led by a property investor Prime Minister, you can see why Labor is leaving renters in the dirt.

Yes, as much as I hate the Greens' stance on the disgraceful defacing of our National War Memorial, they are right on housing. The housing situation in Australia is also a disgrace, and our leaders should be ashamed of themselves.

Please show the figures for the many greens politicians who own more than one property and the before and after for their tenants so we know you are honest in your speech.
Financial records for politicians are published online if you want to check who the rich greens are with more than one property
Start with Elizabeth Watson Brown (3) and Mehreen Faruqi (3 in Oz, 1 in Pakistan), Penny Allman (2) Janet rice (2)

Isn't it more telling, that even though some of the Greens members have multiple houses, they are willing to change the rules in such a way that would not benefit them.
You have to understand, that no one is terrible for taking advantage of a broken system. What is terrible is that given the chance to change a broken system that no action is taken.
Many revolutionaries came from privileged backgrounds. Lenin, Castro and Mao were very well-off. The reason their movements had meaning was that they were willing to give it up for a better society.
In some cases, you have to play the game to survive. And we need people who are playing the game well to change the system from within.

@@schrenk-d so you are saying the greens property owners have no not impacted their renters with changes in the costs of ownership, that is great. I am not worried by having ownership just they management of them

The big difference is that the greens are willing to go against their own best interests and try to change the system to make it better for the people. Labor and Liberals are not.

      No.
I'm saying that the system itself is broken. And if you play in that system not making the most of it can break you.
BUT. It says a lot of the character of the Greens, even the ones that own multiple properties, to advocate to change the system and make it more fair, even though those Greens with multiple properties will ultimately be worse off for doing so.
Contrast this with the ministers who have multiple properties and will refuse to change the system, or even worse, sacrifice any or all Australians to make sure their own interests are looked after.

@nerdy_dav if the greens can't display the humanity of their convictions by deeds with their tenants how can you believe anything they say on the topic

Greens MPs and Senators with investment properties should make a sworn declaration their properties are not empty and they have frozen the rents. There are a few Greens with multiple properties.

Arguing to close off tax rorts is different to preserving them. The Lib/Lab/Nats are fighting against reform. I have less issues with someone arguing against greed than those milking it and defending it too.

@--Nath-- have you noticed he has not yet offered an actual solution ie build like the HDB of Singapore but fighting within the system you point out without an exit strategy is also weak. Nothing stopping all levels of government doing something instead of talk8ng about the failure of others
