Really enjoy your work gentlemen! What makes this circuit significant for me is that this is where the special relationship between Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert began, the epitome of good teammates. Thank you both for keeping the history alive!
Seems Goodwood is getting to big for its boots Reims is close to the ferries and would be a good venue for the overflow. Any person taking on this task will need deep pockets but its all there waiting. Apart from formula 1 it was host to big banger sports cars and some of the other cars you see at Goodwood were there.
Thanks for this video. Born in Reims, when I was younger, in the 1960s, I went to attend trials and races. The POGNON god who now governs F1 (bad shot from ECCLESTONE) was absent, the prices were very low and the race was a Sunday family outing. You could approach the cars and the drivers up close, including in the pits during practice. I remember being at 1m during a discussion between Jackie STEWART and Graham HILL along the pit straight. Imagine that today....
Thanks for the video! I was there at the Premier Reims-Gueux Légende event past year, saw those beautiful cars, and I could drive on a part of the GP track too. It felt miraculous after all those races I drove there in GPL sim :)
I've been there.., You can walk around the pits, sit in the grandstand, walk along the underpass, you can even climb up the control tower and its really easy to find thanks to its close proximity to the motorway. You can pop in if your Going down the east side of France....
@@Circuitsofthepast Indeed. I remember reading a story about that garage in the Internet, but that was a long time ago. In fact, I followed the route on Google Earth, and the garage is still there. I'm also a fan of old circuits and appreciate your work a lot. Cheers!
I know this is obsurd but since Formula E is focusing on Street circuits soo much, soo how about using the drivable version of Reims as sort of the Monza of the FE calendar?
The ugly little secret that Formula E does not want you to know is they would never come close to filling the grandstands and the countryside viewing locations at traditional road course so it would be. a visible embarrassment on TV and no track owner is going to want to take this financial bath. The lack of spectators is hidden because of all the concrete barriers and other obstacles surrounding the street circuit racing surface.

At the 2:00 minute mark, there's a garage called "Garage du Circuit".
Yeah the people of Gueux love their classic circuit.

I would like to see Formula E going to historic places instead of these narrow city circuits. So I like the idea.

Is nobody mad at me because there is a ghost on the thumbnail? 😜
Nope
Houses make good Barriers....
Not!
That may be the reason they cut the sections through the village.
*crashes into the dining room*
Just here for a cup of tea before I head out for a quali lap!
Simon adds an extra joke ;)
Bicycle race
This is a bicycle race :)
So fast road circuit today would be cars go 360kmh
Yes, would be way too fast now. If it was still operational it was filled with chicanes :)

You're right, his name was Musso. But there is a memorial in the first turn, Courbe de Gueux.
