    I've been having these since my early 20s that I can remember. I'm 42. For years the paralysis dreams involved things going on in my room, snakes, people trying to break in through my window, once a small boy was standing in my doorway with one leg and no arms. All terrifying. Lately, it's been something in my room. Last week it was trying to pull me out of bed which is not the norm for me.

    First had it in my teens up until I was in my 40’s. terrified the shit out of me! Was always accompanied by a ringing in the ears, similar to a DMT trip. In the latter years I leaned to enjoy it. If I relaxed and fought the fear I could turn it into a lucid dream or a couple of times into astral projection. (None of which I believe to be a real or spiritual thing)
    I did notice that if I’d been out partying hard and had a lack of sleep, this would sometimes be the trigger a day or two later. I did also notice that during the day leading up to an episode, if I closed my eyes I could experience what I can only describe as a ‘third eye vision’. A high definition scene would just appear, usually of some random landscape with complete clarity.
    The brain is a weird and wonderful thing!

    I have sleep paralysis quite often, few times a week when I have a bad spell of it. Can't sleep on my back because most of the time it leads to it. had very different Experiences. Seen shadowy figures, grim reaper coming out of my wall, felt like I was being resuscitated by faceless people and other weird stuff. Also have it alot more with out hallucinations, just trying too move and I scream and yell sometimes feeling it hard to do that in paralysis. Other times I can kick out of it and roll over and go to sleep. Just got use to it over time but it is so bizarre, frightening, odd and crazy. Started in my early 20s 12-14 years ago. Never had it after a heavy night out though that I can remember, read it can be a cause.

  • @aurenwolfgang
    @aurenwolfgang 3 роки тому +3

    It's interesting, during my first episode of sleep paralysis I heard a lot of white noise first, then saw a shadowy figure of a man who paced around my bed, it ended after a sensation of a knife to my throat.
    But I thought during other episodes if I refused to see the figure then I'd be less scared, but the feeling of dread or like someone is there just stays even if you don't see it.

  • @MissUltimaThule
    @MissUltimaThule 3 роки тому

    I went through a period in my early to mid-teens where I had it almost every time I slept, even during short naps. I used to dread sleep because it was so frequent and terrifying. I would feel the choking sensation and pressure on my chest, and pure, cold, visceral dread unlike anything I’ve ever experienced while awake. I’d sometimes also hallucinate deafening sounds and blinding lights, and occasionally malevolent manifestations like a heavy black beast growling in my ear while it crushed me. And the weird thing about SP is that it’s so, so real. Not even the most vivid dream can compare. Luckily I grew out of it and only experienced it very occasionally. Haven’t had it in years now.

    After it went on for a while i started to understand it turn it into lucid dreams like he said and i could pretty much do anything i wanted in my dreams, fly, steal anything, sleep with anyone lol it was mental I used to love going to sleep after a night shift as I knew i could get into a lucid dream and have the a great time haha... never happens anymore now i work normal hours and im tired from family life

It makes so much sense. haven't heard anyone say that they screamed though? I'm always trying to scream to get someone to shake me to wake me up. I finally scream and wake myself up if no one shakes me. Its pure terror. It doesn't matter what the vision is, it's usually a person but the terrifying part is the instant feeling of OH GOD IM PARALYZED AND I CANT SCREAM. And if it happens once I know it's gonna happen every time I start to fall asleep that night. My mom would scream also. Anyone????

    I woke up terrified, soaked and shaking. I felt traumatized for a couple of days and was afraid to go to bed lol.

    I’ve been getting sleep paralysis for the majority of my life. This makes a lot of sense to me, as the years have gone by I don’t get as scared when it happens anymore and as I’ve gotten less scared I have stoped seeing scary things.
    When I was around 17 (25 now) I was sleeping on my sister sofa and I woke up paralysed. The next thing that happened was the light turnt on (impossible) in the room, then a death type figure came in the room, sort of like a dementor from Harry Potter. It was floating above me screaming, and shaking the whole room, it felt like I was in an earthquake. I was screaming for help, but nothing was coming out of my mouth.
    I don’t fear it anymore, I enjoy it. I only get it when I’m sleeping on my back. I can’t fall asleep anymore unless I’m on my side.

    I get sleep paralysis when I'm super tired. I don't see demons. My best recovery method is to remind myself not to panic and let the paralysis take its time. In seconds, the madness stops and i resume normal sleep. The more you panic the longer it lasts. If you're super tired, take a minute nap then continue your normal in your normal bed.

    I started having sleep paralysis as a teenager. It was very frightening. I’d wake up, or so I thought, but I couldn’t move or even take a breath. I always got the feeling I was falling into a bottomless pitch black hole and if I didn’t focus on making an arm or leg move then I was going to die.

    I’ve had it twice in the same night…the first time there was this silhouette of a tall man, I was trying to make noise to wake up my dog which was hard to do but was able to make the faintest noise and that woke me up. The second time everything was the same as the first but I recognized what it was and laughed it off and the feeling of laughing woke me up.

    I get sleep paralysis all the time and lucid dreaming experiences where I can control the dream. When I become aware that I am dreaming, I can also control the dream. I can control the dream by predicting what’s going to happen next. You see negative things during sleep paralysis, because that’s what you were looking for. Is there an intruder in the room? Yes! Is there a monster? Yes! The answer is always yes.

    I had it for about a year and it was horrible. I don’t remember any creature or person but going to sleep was a loud buzzing and not being able to move at all. Finally was able to work out trying to rub my thumb and first 2 fingers together and break the paralysis. Hated it so much. Sent my panic attacks soaring. Sleeping was just as crazy.

    I get sleep paralysis a lot and I’ve only had one time where my mate was in the corner of the room cracking jokes and I was vividly laughing but in reality was unable to move or speak.
    Most the time it is something evil but I’ve learnt to control what I see and it’s kinda cool lol

    I have parasomnia and experience sleep paralysis and wake while dreams play out, night terrors mostly where I hallucinate bugs, people or auditory episodes. I also experience the reverse where the normal paralysis that the body experiences when dreaming to prevent movement and harm does not kick in and I have thrown myself off my bed and around the room, had seizure like movements and cracked my teeth, my throat has spasmed while I dreamt that I was being chocked. I never feel rested after sleep. Its very interesting.

    My sleep paralysis experiences have never been scary like Ive only had them about 4/5 times in my life, but what would usually happen is I would think I'm awake, therefore try to get up or reach for my phone then realise I can't move. The things that I experienced in this state was, hearing my door open( I thought my dad came in my room) I felt someone get in my bed and lay next to me and cuddle me but it felt like someone I knew and felt such a warm/comforting energy and although I knew it wasn't real I didn't wan them to leave. One that was very vivid for me was that again I tried to get up of bed couldn't move then suddenly a baby appeared by me and had this overwhelming feeling of love for it even though I knew I was in the state of paralysis. Im veryyyy grateful that I haven't seen anything terrifying in my experiences coz I'd probably be afraid to sleep forever.

    i have been suffering with it for many years and also my father, there is always 3 times which stand out for me when i get pinned down and by the ''witch'' but the ultimate time for me which makes me question that this phenomena could be actual entities is the time i woke up and couldn't move, i realised i was in a sleep paralysis and the black shadow burst into my room, i was helplessly lying and cant move watching it fly around my room then suddenly it burst out my bedroom door and then all i could hear was my father screaming ''get off me, go away, f**k off'' , i wake up realising what just happened went to my dads room and made sure he was okay, i woke him and said its okay its just a nightmare but wow, it was such a surreal experience and the only time it affected me and my pops on the same time and makes me think that it could be more then just serotonin releases or your brain releasing chemical's and could be a entity

    I get sleep paralysis quite often when I'm tired and sleep on the sofa but I never get these scary images. I always say in my head "here we go again" as I've had it so often then I try to struggle out of it. Does anyone else have sleep paralysis like? Maybe my fear is never getting out of sleep paralysis? 🤷
