Love the way he talks to us, like we are working on it with him.
Just a FYI for the other guys doing the swap. If you pull the inner fender out you can get right to the mater cylinder dimple without removing anything else and you can fit a regular drill in there
That is a different dimple - the one for the clutch master is higher up on the firewall.
Actually an easier way is to just remove the plastic cover from the fuse box. Not the lid, the surrounding plastic
What about the bracket that mounts to the firewall? I'm being told I need to remove the dash to install it!
@@krichtainswanson1931same thing I’m doing right now
@kevinturpin8225 if there's anything you need help with let me know ill post a detailed video on my channel and tag you
Dude you’re video helped me so much you are the man
You can typically stack a larger hole saw over a smaller one. The smaller one essentially becomes a pilot bit
I broke a piece in my clutch pedal in my 2003 Silverado and had to remove a bunch of stuff to get to it. Such a pain, I’m so glad I’m watching this video
I have a clutch pedal from a 93 k1500 where I got my transmission from. I like that its all metal and has 2 studs that protrude the firewall to mount it and the master cyl but we gonna find out if it can fit in there ok. Seeing it has the bolts on the rear gives me hope cause the steel bracket on mine has 2 firewall studs and 2 back bolts and 2 switches. 1 for clutch safety swtich, the other for cruise control
On some hole saw kits, if there are enough threads on the chuck, you can put the first (too small) hole saw on inside of the bigger and it works like a pilot bit.
I bought a chevy that was converted to a manual. I love chevy trucks so this is my project. Previous owner is in his 20's. So I'm fixing all the problems he had with the truck. Brakes, interior lighting etc. Your videos help me understand the process he went through with the automatic to manual. Thank you.
I am quite positive that I can do the swap on my 2012, a.k.a. GMT 900, the same mounting points are there for the clutch pedal. I think I’m gonna order the clutch pedal and send it, there is no info available on the swap, however, they did offer the trucks in Mexico with a manual transmission.
@BustedCanofBiscuitsGarage here is some more info this guy didn't give. Retain the factory nuetral safty and the vehicle should still operate as normal. And the reverse will be pig tailed from the nuetral safty harness and you might have to possibly add a positive wire to your reverse switch for when you engage reverse your lights come on
@BustedCanofBiscuitsGarage also you shouldn't have to mess around with the clutch possition switch it will just shut your cruise control of and make it so you have to compress the clutch to start. Unless you want them things which most people like the safty features but that's the hard parts I faced
Love the series, its very helpful! Just a thought on doing any interior cutting like with the shifter, a drill and jigsaw with a metal blade would work well and avoid sparks.
I remember looking @ deboss garage some years back and he said that you can get that clutch pedal in metal bc the plastic one break.
kb diesel performance makes it, it's stout
@@emjman thanks
I really thinking of doing this when the 4l60e goes out. If I can get it done for about the same has a rebuild 4L60e
Another tip/warning: on the fire wall there are 2 dimples/pilot holes within a few inches of each other, makes sure your drill the upper one
I also bought the wrong master cylinder lol i went with the medal pedal but thanks for everything you made it easy
So you need a 2.5” hole saw or a 2 3/4” hole saw?
I 'm going to stick in my sierra , after watching this video , no way with the gm built to break clutch assembly. found a wilwood 340-1436-1 to replace the whole thing , power brakes and all. after i make a composite inner and outer fire wall plate it should be an straight' foward install
I needed this video
I'm in Kentucky doing the ls things. I'm new to it, but would love to get info on Justin for shortbed trucks. Thanks
What’d you use to get the nut on the back side of the bolt for the clutch pedal?
Did your self tapper end up holding up or did you find another option? Mine pulled out first day driving the truck.
What clutch did you end up using? Thanks for these videos
Just now trying to do this but I'm starting with 5 speed V6 2002 silverado but want to change over to a 4.8 or 5.3.... but I'm unsure if my transmission would need to be changed or can I use it on the swap
I made my truck manual thanks to you but the only problem that i have is with the clutch pedal I don't know if i can adjust it cuz none of the gears cant get
@@luisbenitez4159 ever get it
Really? Dude only deals with the Short bed single cabs? Hmmmm you think maybe I could get his info? I’m thinking about getting a single cab short bed for a slidey boy truck
Hey Marcus I have a Chevy Silverado 2002 4.3 With 5 speed. My question will the clutch master cylinder work on my truck?? What brand u would remind?
Question how did you remedy the clutch position switch.automatic harness doesn't have the plug for it and I was wandering how to wire that in. Rock auto sells the plug to be spliced in just need shown
Wandering because I got a similar build.
Do you know if you have to replace the steering column to get rid of the old shifter or can you just take it off
You can just remove the shifter. You can buy the column cover without the hole off of eBay if you needed.
Nice
marcus does the suburban have the same firewall to make these mods
Where’d you get the parts / part #s
Would love to get in touch with the guy that sells this trucks. I’m right over the bridge in Ohio
Couldnt have used a wilwood universal master cylinder?
How did u get the wiring
New sub my guy. Appreciate the parts list.
Hi some one now the colors cables for the reverse light ?
Hello, if you allow me, I would like to send you a video that I think may interest you when you have to change a pedal on the Silverado.
How much do u charge to do a trans swap
Just did this, pain in the butt 😂
10:35 "here" is where the stupid 1/16" plastic diaphragm leverage fulcrum. it broke on my doing a 3-4 shift and pedal went to floor. as sadistic as it sounds that top bolt procedure is 12hr labor. DO NOT use oem pedal guys please. I heard of woman almost dying on 1-2 shift on 65mph rural cross road. I used a willwood master and universal billet pedal. with my v8 swap. after i read the protocol for the job in the manual I couldn't believe what i had to do to get pedal out there was no way I was going to do it again with guy on forum saying he went plasticless after third failure. take apart dash and fasteners ( some of which windshield may need to be removed to get access) to rotate entire dash up and forwards to access blind top fastener to rotate down and back clutch pedal. another one to consider is with the billet is you swing is in line not hooked to the right inches. this allowed me to notch slave hole few inches lower weld in plate and have inline swing that fell nearly where e brake is. gives a nice low and wide body placement when driving and makes it nearly imposable to accidently cycle clutch and drive off with e brake on. not bashing your video man, great content liked video. I'm just a tile guy and wish I had known all of this before i started a " quick fix" after stated talking about welders lol.
Is it the same for 2015 models?
No, they never came in manual to my knowledge. Maybe outside the USA but not here
Is this swap on a 4x4 silverado?
im doing a at to man swap and mine is 4x4
@@simonpierre100 I'd love to do it but the marriage to the transfer case seems like a lot of work
@@superbroadcaster i bougt a nv3500 with tcase from a gm 4x4 4,8 vortec! I don't think you could use a 2wd nv3500 and put a t case on it. you have to find a 4x4 version (sorry for my poor english, im french)
I'm in the middle of doing one on my truck, I'm using an nv4500 tho
Did u disassemble the dash to install the pedal
I installed mine in my truck today! Didnt had to loosen the dash.. But its a pretty tight fit! I pushed hard on the pedal assembly and had to trim a little piece of rubber on the truck near the hole in the firewall for clearance! Also did another hole in the mount like he did in the video to pass a nut behind to bolt it in place, worked very well!
@@simonpierre100you indeed have to remove the dash if you're going from an automatic 4l60e to a 5speed especially using the metal clutch pedal. Because you have to install the metal bracket that stops the clutch pedal from flexing that bracket goes right under the Vin number there's noway to install it without removing the dash!
@@SquareBodyK5 none of us in the comments used that bracket because of dash removal or nfg
is this similar to an 2001 silverado 1500 extended cab ?
yep im doing the swap this week (mine is 4x4) and everything seems similar
@@simonpierre100 could you make videos over it
Everything's done! But its pretty straigt foward! Contact me if you have any question
@@simonpierre100 i have a 02 silverado 4x4 ext cab & im in the process of doing the swap aswell what did you do for the driveshaft? did the oem one fit?
@@raymondquesada6896 i used the same one
How come u didn’t just double stack ur hole saws? Screwed ur 2 inch into ur 2 3/4 hole saw and then u are using ur 2 inch as ur guide.
I have a question so the hole is exactly 2 3/ right? So I need to get me a hole saw that's 2 3/4?
I need someone to do this to mine and quote
😂 dewalt makes 90 degree 20v drill
So much plastic.
