    How is this a "cold calculating business decision" lol? They're gonna lose money on merch and tickets, and are less likely to win.
    Daft? Tone-deaf? Out-of-touch? Delusional? Sure. "Cold and calculating"? No way.
    In fact the fanboyism Harrison has for AD is anything but "cold", it's passionate and frankly irrational.

      They’re moving the team to Vegas, unless Dallas gives in to turning your whole city into a casino.

      Just imaging you delusional Nico who thinks AD is a guy. From his perspective its "cold and calculating" tough decision. He got a guy who will 'win' a chip for him, yeah, he crack some egg in process, but who cares. I guess now it's time for him to learn valuable lesson in life, sadly on our and Luka expense.

      His irrational passion for AD is matched only by his irrational hatred for Luka. So much so he still thinks that AD is legitimately a better player than Luka and he can’t understand what the big deal is

    Bro this is not a normal trade. The nba def made this happen. What GM in a million years do this? One that’s about to be out of a job, I’m putting money down now, he has less than 12 months.

    There is no way in earth that AD can remotely replace anything Luka brought to the table. The Mavs are 6-14 since Luka is out, what's AD gonna do to change any of that. Their issue is playmaking... The fact that Luka carried this team to the Finals on one leg, the tickets and jerseys he's selling. AD is great but he won't be able to give the Mavs anything close to that.

      Nico is just delusional and really wanted AD. Any person with sport background would never did that trade, but he is not sport person. He just destroyed Mavs future for his egoistic goals. He just think he know better, that's it.

    Nico will go down in history as the GM that made the worst trade in sports. Nico Harrison has not only set this franchise back decades, he's also brought up mavs fans the modern day curse of the Bambeno

    Luka will win a couple of championships with the Lakers before even Mavs can touch another conference finals again. Print that. And that's gonna hurt.

    There's no justifying this. Trying to put yourself in the GM shoes doesn't even work. There's never been a trade like this in league history where 2 all-NBA players got traded in season. It's incredibly lopsided and has no justification. You guys should be doing nothing but calling for Nico's job, and calling for fans to boycott home games until he's gone.

    I wonder what the chances are Adam silver paid the mavs, under the table, to do such a one sided trade to the lake show. We all know the lake show has to be great for the nba to be great

    • @CP-pb3pj
      @CP-pb3pj Годину тому

      Maybe Silver paid the Mavs also so the Celtics could win their 18th ring.

    • @TheFlamingShark
      @TheFlamingShark Годину тому +1

      Of all the conspiracy theories, this one really does make no sense. After all, Luka was a license to print money for the Mavs, and the size of a backdoor payment like that would have to be so astronomical to justify the obvious backlash and loss of merch sales and fan interest alike which would come from that. The only conspiracy theories involving money that would even remotely make sense is if Nico Harrison was getting paid under the table by Jeannie Buss and Rob Pelinka and is a double agent or this is intentional sabotage by ownership, but the latter seems very unlikely to me despite not being totally impossible. All the conspiracy options otherwise are somehow less believable than Nico being completely delusional. The worst part is that Dallas still could win a title as constructed, but just as well could have without dealing away Dončić. I still believe the most likely scenario is that Nico, and potentially ownership, absolutely couldn't stand Luka for a combination of factors that they've alluded to and likely more that they will never say. Still, all that aside, even if you genuinely believe this is a plus basketball move, you can't justify ripping out the heart of your fanbase and all the money you will lose in the process of doing so.

    This will be the last time I lament the situation. At this point, everyone has said everything there is to say. I was a Mavs fan before Luka, I always thought I would be after. I was confused internlly, contemplating if should just watch Lakers game. I hate the idea that there are Luka fans and their are Mavs fan. They should be one in the same.The Mavs organization sold us on a culture, loyalty to our superstar. That was our indentity as a fan base. Now we are caught in between a ideology that we thought was synonymous with this franchise, and the actual franchise itself. I can't say without being a hypocrite, Dirk's 1 championship means more than KD's 2 championship, while also saying that a championship with this current iteration of the Mavs would make trading away Luka, ok. Why Dirk's championship was so legendary was because he did it with the team that drafted him when everyone outside of Dallas counted him out. He never gave up on the Mavs, never asked for a trade, never complained about his situation, and went on to beat some stupidly stacked rosters. Thats why he has a statue outside. It was a mixture of loyalty and basketball brilliance. The Mavs new owner and GM have a different idieology than its predecessor. They want to adopt the corporate model, not the mom and pop shop mentality. They now feel as souless as the Lakers and Heat. I have fallen out of love with this organization, its no longer the orgnization that I grew up supporting. The only way to rectify any of this is to fire the whole front office, tear the whole team down, and start over. I know that wont happen for a minimum of 3 years, but until then I will be a casual observer. If they win a championship I will not be at the parade. I won't be able to really cheer for this team again until the man responsible is fired and the Mavs draft a new franchise player. They had better do right by him this next time around. For those who dont care about culture and identity, they just want to win championships, I hope you get what you want because if they don't youll be right here with me lamenting the fact that we traded a once in 20 years player who was loyal to the soil for absolutely nothing.

    I think you guys are being too generous by describing this as a “cold calculating business decision” because this is a fucking *horrible* business decision. What company gives away their most valuable asset for pennies on the dollar and without exploring if there is a market there? This was not a business decision. Nico did this because he hates Luka. It’s really that simple. He hates Luka and so he doesn’t think Luka is all that good. This isn’t business.
    As for culture? He ripped out the culture. The culture was Dirk passing on the mantle to Luka.

    • @pavlosegeda8294

      Yeah, culture thing just hilarious and 'defense win championships' also. Why he even try to build a copy of last year Wolves ? This will never work against teams like Celtics, because it was out offense that cost us chip not luck of defense.

      Yeah people are talking like the Mavs were conceding 150 every night vs Boston when they actually defended quite well. They lost to Boston because Kyrie got locked down and Luka couldn’t do enough on his own, especially while hurt. The revisionist history going on is some sick work

    If you think about it, Lively does not fit the Nico's timeline also. He will not be a win now player for a few years to come. So IMO, he is on a trading block as well. If he's looking max 4 years in advance, he is definetly shopping him.

    You had Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson, and decided to bet on *Kyrie Irving* as your franchise point guard?

    From your words sounds a little like Harrison is some sort of narrow-minded protestant work-ethic puritan who thinks the most important thing in sports is going through the motions of heavy practice and self-denial, and that everything stems from that and is allergic to anyone who won't fully buy into his Kobe-emulating cult ("Nike culture").
    Normally a GM like that would be thrown out when he started causing friction with a player of Luka's talents, but this one was given the keys to the organization and here we are.

    if tim is right and this was just nico’s vision of the culture, that shows total disregard for the players which is crazy. he was fixated on ad, bit maybe ad doesn’t want to be here, in fact anyone sane would think ad would’ve preferred to stay in la. what does that say about the ‘culture’?

  • @Kleba41
    @Kleba41 56 хвилин тому +1

    After having time to think about the trade, of course you want a way bigger return for Luka... but AD is so much of an improvement on defense that if he slides in at PF and we can cobble together a respectable PG lineup behind Kyrie, this team has so much potential to compete for another Western Conference championship.

      “Defence wins championships” is written on the 2024 tombstone of the 2024 Timberwolves. Mavs defence wasn’t even all that bad, and in the process they’ve given up one of the greatest offensive talents we’ll ever see.
