- Luka Doncic got traded to the Lakers on February 2, 2025. That was the day the Mavericks fanbase turned on the organization, as this trade sapped them of their 25-year old franchise superstar....the player who led them to the NBA finals not too long ago. In this video, I take a look at what really happened behind the scenes that caused this trade to happen.
I make all kinds of NBA videos which include analysis, player stories, countdowns, and mysteries. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

They gave up on Luka before the pelicans gave up on Zion. Think about that for a moment.
Crazy perspective. Same with Morant
Absolutely bat shit crazy
Nasty Work indeed
I'm excited to see how this trade ages.
I've been thinking about it the previous 400 times I've seen this exact same comment on different videos.
Owners like the Adelsons are ruining sports for everyone
Yea they definitely did that for more money nothing more or less Luka 25 and it takes 2 weeks to build new habits he woulda lost weight n woulda been good there as a laker fan im not complaining tho just crazy😂😂

@@Not_Sal Regardless of your politics, remember that she had a hand in the annexation of Golan Heights for Israel. Pretty intense stuff there
The mavs should definitely be investigated. This was such a bs trade
yeah this Nico guy is a clown, but if the NBA is in it themselves, then it'll just gonna be chirps.
Their tryna relocate the team to Vegas
Srsly the first thing I think of legitimate trades are they're always sent across the Conference, not the same
They saved $350million. End of investigation 😊
@tbhwhiteboy The CBA has a salary floor. Regardless of much more money they'd actually spend, you're required to spend. You don't spend money on your roster, you accrue financial punishments. To add to it, they're still currently spending. And if they wanted to build for the future and avoid having to pay for one star, they did not get the draft capital they would otherwise because of this trade.
This is why I love UA-cam bc the sports media wouldn't even consider talking about this. It makes more sense. Thanks
Exactly! The Dallas Mavericks is owned by Mariam Adelson an Israeli agent. In a talk to an Israeli group in July, 2010, Sheldon Adelson (Trump Mega Donor) said he wished he had served in the Israeli Army rather the U.S. military-and that he hoped his young son will come back to Israel and “be a sniper for the IDF,” a reference to the Israel Defense Forces. (UA-cam video of speech)
“I am not Israeli. The uniform that I wore in the military, unfortunately, was not an Israeli uniform. It was an American uniform, although my wife was in the IDF and one of my daughters was in the IDF … our two little boys, one of whom will be bar mitzvahed tomorrow, hopefully he’ll come back- his hobby is shooting - and he’ll come back and be a sniper for the IDF,” Adelson said at the event.
“All we care about is being good Zionists, being good citizens of Israel, because even though I am not Israeli born, Israel is in my heart,” he said toward the end of his talk.
@@thinkbeforeyoutype7106 ...First of all, Sheldon Adelson died in 2021 and he has NO relevance to the trade nor is his politics relevant to basketball. His wife being a donor to Trump is a positive which makes most of your irrelevant, disconnected military rant less than spit. You basically saying that a dead man, through his living wife, conspired to improve the Lakers who have a barely literate LePED (who campaigns for the DNC by attacking Trump) to help LePED win a championship because of his secret love for the IDF over the US military?💩🧠
yes lets believe random youtube guy
@@thinkbeforeyoutype7106Sheldon Adelson died in 2021 so what does this have do with Luka Doncic, LeBron or the Lakers???? What does this have to do with basketball? They traded him because they thought he was lazy and they didn’t want to pay him the $345 million supermax contract that he would have been eligible for.
You’re really using this as an excuse to promote your political agenda and spread hate against Jewish people that’s the only reason you would bring up this irrelevant nonsense up.
@@truth1844he’s a troll, they don’t care about logic just their agenda, my family donated to Trump, and my sisters are in the IDF, I don’t like Trump myself but none of these things have anything to do with Luka Doncic being fat lol
Not enough people are talking about the owners. A lot of people still think Cuban runs the show.
Thanks for exposing the Las Vagas connection and Nico's relationship with Rob
The idea that Luka Doncic going to LA in place of AD is going to move the LA economic needle to any significant extent whatsoever, let alone by enough to spill over into Las Vegas, is pretty silly though. This guy might know basketball but he clearly has little perspective into the relative sizes of various economic factors.
People act like Nico made this decision by himself. Ludicrous! 😂 Of COURSE it's the owners. DUH.
@@somealias-zs1bw They want to dry out Mavs ticket sales and artificially create a reason to move to Vegas because that's where all their money is. He was so close to getting there but missed the mark massively 😂

I don't buy the Vegas connection. I do think the leadership of the Mavericks are a bit short sighted.
We traded Luka for AD, a 7th Grader, and a Filet-O-Fish Sandwhich

As a Lakers fan, when I first time saw the news I was thinking like "WHAT THE FUCK are Mavs doing?"
I honestly thought it was one of those clickbait articles when I first heard about it, like the ones that propose a possible but absurd trade that have misleading titles implying that it might have already happened. It wasn't until I received a ton of videos in my UA-cam feed a few hours later that I realized the trade was real.
This reminds me a lot of the Paul Gasol for Kwame Brown trade back in 2007. It makes absolutely no sense on paper, and only benefits the Lakers.
I'm a Lakers fan too but I'm like "What fuck are the Lakers doing?"
@@LockeDemosthenes2
Well the Grizzlies did end up finding some success from it, at least. This….this is something else. Only one draft pick.
I honestly think they’re trying to destroy the team and have AD get crippled and lose any fan base they had, thus encouraging a move to LV. Evil fucks
@@ljtiongco2584honestly, the real question is what the heck are BOTH of these teams doing 😂
I figured Luka must be the worst superstar in NBA history or he's injured beyond repair.
The idea that Luka going to LA will result in any kind of measurable increase in revenue for Vegas casinos is a massive logic leap. I can maybe get behind the possibility that the Mavs owners are trying to alienate the Dallas fanbase to make moving the team to Vegas easier, Oakland A's style, but the notion they traded him thinking his presence in LA would boost their Vegas businesses just seems like total nonsense.
unless they can track a noticable drop off in lakers game downturns and casinos revenue in times when the lakers were demolished, but yeah i think its more about blowing up the team after they failed to secure building casinos in texas, and thus move the team to las vegas
Yeah that part is a huge reach.
What makes more sense is that trading luka to LA was a compromise between Adeleson and the NBA. Trade one of the biggest stars to the most lucrative franchise in the NBA (hence a move to save viewership) and we will promise to move your team to Vegas in a couple years
Yea this theory makes no sense, the family bought the mavs to try to establish gambling in Texas, makes no sense to get rid of there star player which will result in less tickets and less future betting in texas
Lebron is retiring this year or next so they need a new Superstar to face the team
The Adelson family are pretty freaking evil outside of basketball. Not a shock they are destroying the Dallas Mavs, just as they are destroying politics and humanity at large.
The F'ed up part is that NO other team had a shot or even knew about Luka "being available".
I call bullshitery.
That part 🤦♂️
Mavericks ownership, the Adelson family, are the real villains. Nico is just a punching bag meant to take the brunt of fans and medias anger.
They don't care about the mavs they are here to get gambling legalize and they are willing to spend luka's big bucks to make it happen
No Nico just hates Luka
The FO gave doncic every opportunity to succeed and did statistically. He clearly failed to grow up though and accept feedback professionally. FO wasn't comfortable giving 300+ mil to a crybaby immature kid. Makes sense if you really think about it.
@@StrongholdLament- Ok, let’s say you’re right and Luka won’t lose weight or whatever BS excuse they lob out there. Why do they do the deal secretly instead of shopping him around? Adam Silver is the SOFTEST commissioner ever. It reflects the image of the league today, SOFT.
Because he supports it. He’s just as corrupt as any of the owners.
Bruh this helps the league so much,, Adam silver probably forced it
Bro, the NBA had to approve the sale to the Adelson group in the first place. They are ok witg it
Luka is the Heart and Soul of the City, He never said he wanted to leave the franchise, fully embrace this city like Dirk and they trade him like it’s an ordinary trade, and even if the Mavs win championship after this trade, it’s just not the same, not without Luka, the fans are not going to recover from this.
They won't win anything without him. This will haunt them for a long time. Dallas was a decent destination, they've messed that up. Backstabbing your franchise player is going to put stars off coming into the fold.
So much for loyalty.
They’ll have no fans after this trade
Ordinary trades don’t take place in secret at midnight with no explanation.
Of course he doesn't want to leave Dallas for the Lakers. He'll be expected not to be a lardass in LA and to play defense.
Mavs were never going to win a championship with Luka. You think they're going to beat OKC with Holgren returning soon? Nope. Even if they did the the chances of them beating the Cavs or Celtics in the finals is zero.
AD is averaging 26/12 AND playing top defense. The Mavs have a better chances of winning with AD.
The idea of trading Luka is sound but the execution of the trade was beyond dreadful.

@@TyTimeIsAwesome I agree. I feel bad for Mavericks fans because after Dirk, there was a player they could trust.
The Mavs are not leaving a successful market like Dallas. The league will not allow it. If the Adelson's intention is to get a franchise in Vegas there are a lot easier avenues to go about fulfilling that.
The whole Luka to LA so that more people visit Vegas has got to be the dumbest perspective I have ever heard.
And then Dallas can be used as a leverage city to get every other team to publicly fund new arenas every 25 years
After Adelsons bought Mavs two years ago, Mavs did get rid of several people Luka was friends with. Luka even complained about it openly. This was planned for some time.
There’s a old interview where mark Cuban talks about all this happening before he sold… so yes this was all planned
My best guess is that the new Dallas GM has asked Luka to meet a certain level of fitness for the last few seasons and it has not come to fruition. He is frustrated, wants to add defense, and think Davis is the missing key. He probably thinks more highly of his team than the outside perception and thinks it is easier to replace offense production with better team defense. I think its a grave mistake and a shortsighted move, but could work in the near term.

An up-and-coming generational guy facing the beginning of his prime who dragged a bad team to the NBA finals almost on his own, for an older guy who was, at his peak, the second best player on a championship team. I've been watching sports my entire life, and this is the single most shocking trade I've ever seen.
Not if your goal is to help the Lakers and save the NBA
the MAVS owner theory is legit, it would definitly answer a lot of open questions around this deal. great video!
"I believe that defense wins championships.". Okay....so when are you trading Kyrie?
The NBA has long thrived on superstar narratives, but recent years have seen a decline in TV ratings. Many expected Zion Williamson to become the league’s next generational face, but persistent injuries and conditioning struggles prevented him from reaching that level. Without a clear young star to carry the league forward, some believe the NBA had to intervene.
Luka Doncic was already a global sensation, but playing in Dallas limited his reach compared to a marquee franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers, the most internationally recognized team, have historically been a magnet for star talent, and their success directly impacts the league’s financial health. Given the NBA’s history of benefiting from major market moves, such as LeBron James joining the Lakers or Kevin Durant’s controversial move to the Warriors..some question whether Luka’s trade was purely organic or influenced by a league desperate to revitalize interest.
Could Adam Silver and the league office have nudged this trade into reality to ensure their global appeal remains strong? While there’s no concrete proof, the timing and circumstances raise eyebrows. Coincidence or calculated move?
Could you have paranoia?
Very much so. Remember the sonics dismantling in 06/07? Silver is the exact continuation of Stern’s “legacy”. It’s a shame
I have the same intuition about the league
If Silver did care, he would’ve vetoed it like Stern did with the CP3 to the Lakers trade. This deal was so much worse than what that one was going to be.
Yes. This is what happened idc what anyone says. Anything for LeBron, right Adam?

Been a die-hard Mavs fan since the 80s, and I'm ecstatic with this trade. So tired of Luka's immaturity, complaining, not playing D, blaming refs, not reporting in shape. I wanted him traded in fall of this year when his value was high as it will ever be. We got one of the 4 players I wanted in return. There's so much more behind the scenes that people don't know about. Luka is on pace to be the next Brandon Roy. Mavs are fine. So many young players. 3-0 against the Thunder without Luka. Give me AD, Kyrie, PJ Wash, Lively, Gafford, Naji, Klay, Grimes, Hardy, Exum and see you in June.
Nico Harrison should be considered a villain for pulling this trade. That and the "defense wins championships" thing doesn't really make sense.

To be fair Davis and Christie do hustle on defense 🤔
You didn't even finish the video his not the real villain
He's probably a hostage in this. The new owners are the problem. The theories presented here makes sense.
He is just a puppet. The ownership on the other hand though..
Unfortunately, the Mavericks fans know nothing about the team's owner. Nico didn't make the trade, but he will take the blame.
yup, hes the scapegoat now, poor nico, he was just ordered to do the trade, nothing he can do if the owners want it that way. Its clear in the sense that no manager would do that kind of trade without the owner of the teams consent..
A better take on this is that when the Dallas casino deal became a non starter, the new ownership set their sights on an arena/casino deal in Las Vegas. All they had to do was move the franchise. However, they would need league approval and Dallas, being a viable successful franchise in a big market, would be a tough sell to move. Unless, of course, they dump their biggest asset, watch every single season ticket evaporate and then plead that they are losing money in Dallas and must leave.
Also, they could never sneak this ridiculous trade past the NBA commissioner who has the power to veto franchise killing one sided debacle trades. Altho' seldom used power. In any case, shipping Doncic to the league's most prestigious franchise that needs an injection of star power, mitigates the Commissioner's office reservations.
To recap:
Doncic to LA to resurrect the number one franchise in the league - check
The Mavericks are decimated and lose their fan base in Dallas opening up the possibity of a move to Las Vegas - check
Doncic loses a hundred million - who cares?
Dallas fans lose all the way around - who cares?
Nico Harrison comes off as the village idiot - who cares?
getting AD and expecting him to be a center for your team is insane work especially since AD truly does not want to play 5 at all lol
Honestly, the Mavericks organization is an absolute travesty. This makes Jerry Jones look good for them and honest and is very troubling because Luka Dončić was not even informed until the trade went through and it’s absolutely disgusting for an organization that had Mark Cuban as their owner and honestly Mark Cuba would never allow this to happen.
He still owns almost 30% of the organization and don’t forget he was the one who CHOSE to sell the team to the Adelsons, why? Because he knew about what they wanted to do with the casinos/gambling and real estate development and thought that was going to make him MORE money.
Absolutely disgusting. I think I'm done watching sports
Hahahahahah
Agree 100 percent, of all teams, it had to be the lakers... also Storm of the lights bane ❤
The gambling ads have already ruined it for me
I'm done with the nba now. This "trade" sealed it. This league does not respect us. Does not care about us. They think we are sht on their shoes.
Never again. Rigged officiating was bad enough now they're flat out stealing players and I'm not a mavs fan. Fk this.
Only talking to the Lakers doesn’t hint at a conspiracy, it is the conspiracy. The Mavs fell into the worst people’s hands and they’re pretty much doomed.
This is an absurd take. The connection between Luka in LA resulting in more gambling is tenuous.
The simple answer is they think very highly of Anthony Davis, and did not think that highly of Luka.
It has nothing to do with luca in LA causing more gambling. It has everything to do with Adelson family wanting to build out venetian/palazzo dallas and make billions from dallas gambling. And using the threat of moving the team to Vegas if texas wont legalize gambling, and using this trade to show they arent bluffing or messing around
This league is full of scandals that benefit the lakers
NBA will go down as 3 tier sports very soon. This is no longer to be watchable .
it is due to curry no defense
I think the trade is deeper than most people think. The league is pushing lebron out and has chosen Luka as the new face. There is no other sensible reason the Mavs would make this trade when they could’ve gotten anyone for Luka
No, it's the opposite. there were rumors about lebron getting his own team in las vegas. Think about that. The Adelson family made a deal with lebron: We give you Doncic for winning another ring. After that you will boost the city of las vegas and so the casinos we own.
@@thefebo8987what do you mean LeBron getting his own team in Las Vegas? They're adding an extra team with LeBron at the helm?
@@SonOfTh3Sun yep, similar with Jordan getting his own team back in the day. It's also good for TV ratings.
@@thefebo8987precisely. The league is LeBron. Preserving his legacy is the league.
Totally wrong! The league is not trying to get rid of Lebron. He’s been playing for more than 20 years! If they were trying to get him out. He would have been out by now! This has nothing to do with Lebron. It could be a money grab as this ownership is only interested in money (Casinos) and not in basketball.
The Las Vegas Mavericks are coming. If anyone wants to understand the resson why this trade was made, go back and learn how the Buffalo Braves became the Los Angeles Clippers. They traded their best player, and at that time, a generational talent like Luka in Bob McAdoo, to implode the team to eventually move to California. This here is very similar.
I will never understand doing that. Makes more sense to force a move with a superstar player. That way you are contenders immediately after relocating.

Can't they move to Las Vegas WITHOUT TRADING LUKA. I don't think it has anything to do with this

Nico Harrison is also indirectly responsible for the Celtics getting another championshp as under his watch the Mavs traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards, who was then traded to...the Boston Celtics and became a key piece in Boston's 2024 Championship.
to b fair, prozingis trade allowed us to afford Irving. The Mavs will win it eventually with Luka, but patiences was needed. This is the dumbest trade I've ever seen. 1 draft pick?
@@l.h.tnguyen4916 Well, the issue is that Kyrie has a player option for the 2025-26 season - seeing how Luka got traded for basically AD and scraps, he may very well opt-out and sign in free agency for less with the Lakers. This trade IMO will have even greater rammifications down the line.
@ i hope he picks lakers
The first analysis I've heard on this topic that attempts to shed light on what really happened. It demonstrates once again how important independent voices like Andy Hoops are today, considering that the major sports broadcasters, controlled by a few corporations, are repeating the line set by the Dallas Mavericks owners. “Luka was out of shape, Luka was not in shape, Luka weighed 270 pounds, Luka this or Luka that” - for crying out loud, he was a generational talent at the age of 25, took Dallas to the NBA Finals, played 66-70 games a season (more than most superstars in today's NBA manage) and delivered results! He was not only putting up historical numbers but he was provided iconic moments to bball fans worldwide! The media is treating Luka like Zion atm by failing to question the mindset and interests of the ownership. Shams (ESPN reporter) is even justifying their actions to maintain his close relationships to teams (Dallas wanted AD etc saw him more conducive to the culture etc). When did AD ever take a team to the NBA Finals by himself? Dallas Mavericks fans should demand an independent investigation. Why isn't the mainstream media investigating this and asking uncomfortable questions? I deeply respected Dallas' once upon a time given how they cultivated Nowitzki under Cuban. No wonder the NBA is going downhill.
When did Luka take the Mavs to the Finals by himself? Could've sworn he did make it there until he had Kyrie as his running mate. Maybe I'm mistaken. I will say he did get them to th WCF by himself but ran out of gas.
V@@hop878Kyrie was the reason why they lost against Boston.. 😢I love him but it's a reality
Remember they have to keep up the façade of bullshit (the media) or everything crumbles, the reporters have to keep play along ask the easy question, even if they know something meaningful or else they be booted. An independent investigation sure sounds lovely but from whom, they are a CARTEL. Remember the FBI investigation during the donaghey scandal. Well yes that went very independently. Honestly its shame for us fans that we care about this sport that they got us hooked like addicts, we know its bad (its not good ball game anymore well for 3 guys it is anyway but not for me) yet we still come back for our “love” and fuel this madness with clicks comments and viewership, as I just did
Curious to see if the fans in the US will do something about that ! It's the equivalent of transferring Jordan just before the first title !

How, what did we do wrong? Was our GM supposed to not make a deal bc Luka’s importance to Mavs fans? I mean The Mavs approached our team not the other way around ijs
@ If you don’t see how this can be sketchy then your just being a biased Laker fan. That couldn’t be me
I get your sentiment. I'm a Laker fan for 30 years now. It's not nice to see this trade unfolded, getting Luka on a "bargain" deal. But come to think of this...

There's so much more behind the scenes that people don't know about. Luka is on pace to be the next Brandon Roy. Mavs are fine. So many young players. 3-0 against the Thunder without Luka. I don’t believe “Luka bring more money to LA and then Vegas” is a reasonable reason… the amount would be insignificant for cassino standards…
But, I do believe if they investigate, something would come out…
There's gotta be something shady, everyone with eyes and brain can see it. But I don't buy any of the current theories. You can move to Vegas without trading your superstar, and you dont need Luka in Los Angeles to attract more people to Vegas, that's just stretching beyond absurd. So what is it? I've got no idea. Or maybe it's just Hanlon's razor case, maybe the new owners and a manager are super stupid, no matter how unlikely that sounds.
I just dont understand the logic i wouldnt even trade luka for 10 first round picks let alone just 1 and AD.
Because your goal isn't solely to help the Lakers. Soon as you look at it like that it all makes sense. Improving the mavericks was never any part of the goal.
It's the Sonics all over again. Make the team suck, lose the fan support, complain the fans don't support you and don't buy tickets, then move the team to a new city (in this case, Vegas).
I refuse to support OKC because of this, and if the Mavs move to LV, I'll drop then as well.
And I really didn’t believe it before this trade. I remember hearing the rumors last year and thinking “wtf are ya’ll talking about, look at this Finals run!” But…it’s the only thing that makes the most sense. That or the “move the star to LA for league ratings” move.
We really should drop the whole league at this point.
The only untouchable in this league is Bronny 😤
That's funny
Fr, aint no team wants Bronny's oof contract.
I doubt Luka to LA would have a significant impact on the LA economy to the point that it would affect LV casinos.

Luka Doncic even unfollowed this team on social media which didn’t even surprise me

It's nothing like trading for Jordan. Luka isn't even on 36 year old MJ's level.
It's like trading for James Harden. Luka is literally just James Harden with less athleticism but a better post game.
After the 2021 playoffs, you made a video about Luka and KP. Now you're video is about the Doncic-AD trade. Man, it won't be the same if the Mavs or Luka win a ring in the near future. Guess I'll just hold on to my childhood memory of watching the 2011 Mavs.
I’ve been posting this other places, I think it’s a good theory.
Every detail makes the Las Vegas conspiracy more plausible.
1. If it doesn’t make sense, follow the money.
2. Cuban is still a minority owner, and could presumably veto a move to Vegas by the now-majority casino family? What better way to make him sell his stake than to trade a player he said he would sooner divorce his wife than to trade away.
3. 23 other teams have to approve the move to Las Vegas. Vegas is basically the Lakers market. Pay off the Lakers to get at least one “no” vote off the table. The need to pay off the Lakers specifically explains why they had so much leverage.
4. Remember the league indicated plans for Vegas and Seattle last year, but stopped short of announcing expansion teams. I think the reporters at the time expected the league to make announcements at All Star Weekend this year? So it might be interesting if the league is still vague about the plans coming out of the break. Note one of the surprising details is that they’re doing this mid-season, before All Star.
5. SI reported in September 2024 that the new owners have property in Texas for a new arena and attached casino, as the AA Center lease expires in 2031. But then the Texas state legislature did not legalize sports betting.
Am I missing anything?
I’ll admit 2 weaknesses to the argument:
1. I don’t actually know whether Cuban can block a move as minority owner. If he can’t block the move it makes a lot less sense; still a good idea to pay off the Lakers, but this would be extreme.
2. The Adelsons sold their last casino in Vegas, the Venitian, in 2021, so they don’t already have land to build on.
Cuban doesn't have veto power, given that the Adelsons own 3/4 of the team. I think they're still trying to use the Mavs to legalize gambling in Texas through the threat of relocation. Their plan is to get a casino-arena either way, but having priority access to a new Texas gambling market would be so lucrative that tanking interest in the team in the short term seems worth it.
Best video about the Luka trade, this opens up my mind, it was buffling when it was executed, now it makes more sense, Thank you Andy..
This should be investigated, this could ruin the NBA if all of this is true, Adelsons is ruining the League and they're already in hot waters with viewership

Did the Adelson's instigate the trade for ulterior motives? Maybe. But the idea that they traded Luka to boost the city of LA's economy, so that LA's economic gain would trickle down to Vegas, is absurd. Even if Luka brings another championship to LA, his effect on LA's economy is drop in the bucket, and his effect on Vegas' economy is even less than that.

LA needed someone who will be "the new king of LA" player, after LBJ is done. And AD is not that calibre. And Luka is that guy. Later,in season or two, they will build something arround him.
To hell with LA
The part about Luka on the Lakers having a tremendous impact on LA's economy is way too huge a stretch, but overall I think this is the best theory. The Adelsons will save $100M in the near term, but beyond that their long term goal is to build a casino/arena complex. Preferably in Dallas, but they'd probably settle for Las Vegas if the Texas gov doesn't play ball. They already have decades of experience funding and paying off politicians for pro-gambling and zionist causes, so their next move is to pump more money into lobbying to legalize gambling while at the same time applying pressure by threatening to move the team. From the perspective of the Mavs ownership, this makes the most sense. They wouldn't buy the Mavs unless they wanted to integrate the franchise into their gambling operations somehow... Trading Luka to the Lakers specifically definitely makes the league as a whole happy because of the possible ratings boost, but I don't think this was Silver's idea.
Mavericks GM is a time traveller and the Lakers first round pick is the greatest of all time
Laker owners bought Luka from Dallas owners directly, under the table deal. Hence Mavs GM did not start a bidding war or seek out the best available deal out there. He was under owners' orders. They just needed the trade to look legit.
No, the owners laughed when Nico first brought it up. This was all Nico. The owners approved it because they know nothing about basketball and trusted Nico. Big mistake.
