Best thing about this guitar, besides the fact that it’s awesome, is that it’s not the poor man’s version of a current/in-production Fender. It’s its own thing.
I have the one in black - now my main guitar. The range of tones make it really versatile. This is the most accurate / useful review I've seen. Only things I'm gonna change on mine is split the coils and remove the humbucker covers.
This Squier looks like it’s a proper build. Everything looks good quality and the pickups sound like they have a fair bit of clarity to them unlike most humbucking budgets. Love the colour too, looks like Lake Bled in Slovenia 🇸🇮
“This means YOU are the ground for this guitar”. This gave me flash backs practicing in a basement with no grounding, playing a toronado and getting shocked every time I needed to palm-mute.
As a professional guitar-maker it's always a treat for me when I watch videos like yours where the reviewer takes the guitar apart and doesn't just play it... Although your playing is excellent... Great work 🙂🙂🙂
Great review! I still have my '99 MEX Fender version (which I've had for +20yrs now), but I've been eyeing the squire version to maybe do some customizing with. Nice to know they're staying true to the original layout.
Even if the strings were new, how long did they sit on a boat from China? Or in a warehouse? Or a showroom. I have had strings come on new guitars that were just plain oxidized steel bars.
Have owned a black one for 7 months and very happy. Did some mods, new saddles, swapped the humbuckers for ones from IronGear. The frets needed work but now I have a keeper.
My son bought one and since it s his main axe. I was not really convinced first but i find it now really beautiful ( it s the lake placid blue / tortoise pickguard ). In fact it s the only gibson made by fender..
Great presentation very in depth and enjoyable to watch. Plus it arms with everything I need to make an informed decision. One question: Can't tell if the nut is tall or not. How is the nut overall? Any problems when playing on the first three frets? Thanks!
I love the higher end squire fender guitars, I love the star caster vintage vibe semi hollow body. Screw the American high $$. Guitars, the quality on these are par to high end fender. ( buy the Indonesia models).
GFS Surf 180s and brass or Aluminum saddles really sound nice. Also, re 24.75" Fenders- ever try a Tele-Sonic? I will try to hit you up on fb to sens pics/clips of some mods i did...
Correction: Squiers are not generally thinner. There are some models that are, particularly some HT Strats and a couple of low-end Strats. Otherwise they are the *same* thickness as Fenders.
These guitars are great except the electronics are hit or miss sometimes. Few years down the road you might have switches or wires crap out on you. Not a big deal really but definitely annoying
If I wanted a guitar to sound like a Gibson, I would buy a Epiphone/Gibson. LOL. I already own one... The bridge pickup sounds muddy to me. I think it is a great option for those that want to play a short scale.
I had a pickup fail on mine so I modified it with some Mexican wide range pickups and 1meg pots.....Its a beautiful guitar, probably worth going full cunife one day
I own one and as much as I try to like it, I do not. Squires are bad guitars. I picked up a parts caster for the same money as a Squire at my local guitar shop that will blow any Squire out of the water. You could do the same because Squire guitars feel more like toys than musical instruments
I do hope you get those subscribers. A Critique .. your video comes off as a product promotional in my opinion. A suggestion.. Be that excited new guitar owner that wants to hear the guitar as fast as they get it opened, play it then go into specs and details. Otherwise, well it feels cold and academic. Hope that helps?
I've had mine for 2 years and play a lot of Mastodon-style prog metal, old 80's style thrash metal, and noise rock a la John Spenser Blues Explosion/Big Black/Sonic Youth. This guitar is fantastic for these tones. The Fender twang is definitely there; you can change the capacitors on the tone pots for a darker sound but it won't chug or djent like active pickups. And the neck isn't terribly fast like an Ibanez.
Best thing about this guitar, besides the fact that it’s awesome, is that it’s not the poor man’s version of a current/in-production Fender. It’s its own thing.
It's still just a remake of a Fender design that didn't sell well and got cancelled.
@@BobPapadopoulosI don’t think it was ever USA Fender, weren’t they MIM.
I just got one . In the 100-300 dollar range it’s the best guitar I ever had .
@@patricklemire9278 they made US versions for a few years, starting in 2003.
@@mikevaedur7396you found one of these for 100-300 new? These retail new for about $430 as of 2023.
There is definitely something very satisfying about split tuners; leaves everything nice and clean.

I own one in black , love it. Upgraded the humbucker on the bridge to an IronGear Dirty torque and new linear pots. Very happy with it
Squier has been doing some nice work in the last couple of years.
@@user-fw1nx3jl6q 😯
Yeah, Fender is doing their sandbox of "cool things that we don't know if people would pay $1K + for"

I have the 2020 one and it is my number 2 guitar, so good, I was gonna change the pickups but they're great, no need

are these the same humbucker pick-ups that are in a Squier Telecaster deluxe 70s?
When the Fender Toronado GT was selling ............ I wanted it so bad but never bought one. This Squier is very interesting!!!!!!!!!
Got the burst one about a year ago and i LOVE it!
Thanks for being so complete in this review. My local guitar center had one of these, only thing I picked up that got my attention.
Cool shape and colour. Have you guys seen the Gordon Smith Gatsby line for another take on this shape?
Great demo! Thank you.
Great video man! 1st fret /12th fret neck depth measurements would be great to include in these videos 👌
Great video and demo! Thank you so much for doing it this way - perfect guitar demo
Your very detailed and it sounds as good as any higher end fender.
Great presentation very in depth and enjoyable to watch. Plus it arms with everything I need to make an informed decision. One question: Can't tell if the nut is tall or not. How is the nut overall? Any problems when playing on the first three frets? Thanks!
This guitar was very playable up and down the neck, zero complaints! Thanks for watching

I just got one of these for $200. Compared to other "budget guitars" Squiers are amazing.
I have a 2004 MIM Fender Deluxe Series Toronado, solid deep metallic blue. Never going to sell it :)
Did you say the Korean models had a flatter radius? All the internet sits say it's 9.5 but it feels flatter to me.
What kind of music/tone would u say best fits the toranado?
A black pickguard and maple fretboard would look perfect.
The guitar both look and sound great, nice review. Cheers 🤘
Squire has come a long way. I like!
Exactly!!!!!! if you haven't properly set up a guitar, you can't judge it. Except colour.
Love the channel, I love that you open the guitar!
Don’t forget the Highway One Toronado. Early 2000s
GFS Surf 180s and brass or Aluminum saddles really sound nice.
Also, re 24.75" Fenders- ever try a Tele-Sonic? I will try to hit you up on fb to sens pics/clips of some mods i did...
I wish fender offers a mystic green stratocaster, my favorite color.
That's a great looking guitar 👍
Wanna buy one so bad
Just came across your channel, I'm really digging it! Now Subscribed
Great demo. Subscribed!
Correction: Squiers are not generally thinner. There are some models that are, particularly some HT Strats and a couple of low-end Strats. Otherwise they are the *same* thickness as Fenders.
The bullet mustang is thinner than a normal mustang also
Great looking and great sound. Love it!
That is a pretty cool fretboard
This guitar caught my attention, thanks to your channel!
What's a "Jag-wire"?
Nice vid. but we don't want pedal sounds, where are the coil tap sounds??
I had the same issue with stringing the guitar, not a deal breaker but it is annoying
Love the in-depth review!
OMG.. That Les Paul color is amazing!!
It's a les paul for people who like pickups that sound good.

You should sell that Kemper and get a VST set up instead. You just spend a lot of money that you don't need to when you buy a Kemper these days.
Cool squier looks like a Jazzmaster
@@user-fw1nx3jl6q hahaha wtf, I don't want any prize. Hahaha
are they alnicos or ceramics?
Alnico V I believe, thanks for watching
Does anyone know the Ohms in these pots? I can't figure it out. I was told I'd need to disconnect the pickups to get a reading.
Anyone know if Squier’s stock pickups have extra wires so they can be coil split?
You never know how old the strings are on a new squier.
Lol I keep them as spares, it’s a consistency thing for me. Thanks for watching 🍻
This or a supersonic ?
I really dug this one, thanks for watching!
Isn't it just a Tele Deluxe with a cool body though?
I had a pickup fail on mine so I modified it with some Mexican wide range pickups and 1meg pots.....Its a beautiful guitar, probably worth going full cunife one day
Nice review and guitar. The bridge pu is way too dark for my ears. Ez to change 😀
would buy if it had split-coil
Pretty cool 👍
Very cool.
how tall are you? the guitar looks pretty big
This is gonna sound weird but it looks like something MF Doom would play if he played guitar

I don’t like how it sounds clean and that is what I play so I’m out
Nah
If the saddles are upgraded, is this guitar good for metal?
