    Hi Colin I’m aware this videos is old but do you know if there is a way to shut off limiter/adjust it? I wanted to see if I could go around 20-30 range preferably

    • @ColinLeung
      @ColinLeung  Місяць тому +1

      Hello, unfortunately I do not know how to shut off the limiter. Are you trying to get 20-30 miles or km? It's only rated for 12 mi, and will probably get half. You can adjust the gear to 1 to go slower, and get longer range.

    Hi Colin. I watched your reviews of this and the GoTrax XL V2... great reviews, btw. Which of these two would you recommend for a 12-year-old boy who's 5' tall? Thanks

    • @ColinLeung
      @ColinLeung  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello Ron, they're both similar in height, max speed and range. The Wheelspeed has a 350w motor compared to Gotrax's 250W, so I would suggest that one if the prices were the same.

    • @ronb2126
      @ronb2126 7 місяців тому +1

      @@ColinLeung Thanks for the reply Colin. Yes, prices are very similar. Since posting the first message, I noticed that the Wheelspeed was RWD and the GoTrax is FWD. Do you prefer one RWD over FWD or vice versa?

    • @ColinLeung
      @ColinLeung  7 місяців тому

      @@ronb2126 I don't think you'll notice much of a difference at this 250-350W. Here's an explanation that I found on Reddit.
      FWD is easier for beginners, as they don't have to worry overmuch about wheelspin, grip and such. Hit the throttle and the front wheel will pull you along; if it skids, no big deal - you're on dry asphalt anyway so there's an abundance of grip, just keep the throttle down and sooner or later the rest of the scooter will get on with the program.
      RWD is more fun to ride due to riding dynamics, it's more effective at getting motive power on the ground and generally skids a lot less; however, much as in cars, when it does skid it kicks the ass of the scooter sideways. This tends to make newbies soil their pants, so a lot of people will feel safer with a FWD setup.
      But!
      When you've been riding for a while and decide you're no longer a newbie, you're likely to try taking your scooter out in different and more challenging conditions - maybe you go to a park with unpaved roads, or you ride in the rain.
      At that point you'll find out that when a RWD scooter skids out, it can be controlled; the drifting of the rear is consistent, so enough practice will teach you how to control unforeseen losses of grip, and given enough time you'll develop an instinct for it. A while ago I made the mistake of accelerating in a curve on a wet wooden floor while riding my RWD Speedway and damn near drifted a 180° on the spot; it scared the crap out of me, but I managed to stay upright and not hurt myself.
      A FWD in similar conditions will slide its nose in whatever direction it damn well pleases in a much less controllable fashion, especially during a curve, and you can never tell when it'll regain grip again - so you can be trying to contain a slide and then it'll unexpectedly catch the road again and suddenly propel you into a nearby obstacle. Or you let go of the throttle in panic, which will upset your balance as the wheel suddenly stops pulling and probably toss you on the side.
      All in all I find that absolute newbies are probably better off started on FWD so they have less to think about in an already unfamiliar situation, on the condition that they avoid situations of questionable grip.
      However, once your skills improve, FWD will likely start becoming a hindrance more than an aid.
      One thing worth mentioning about RWD: take your finger off the throttle right before a jump - like if you're jumping down a curb or hopping over an obstacle - and only reapply it once you've touched down again. If you don't do that, then when the wheel is in the air it'll spin up to ludicrous speed, and once you touch down it'll immediately apply all the accumulated inertia to the road; this can easily result in an unforeseen wheelie and your ass being tossed off (ask me how I know).
      TL;DR: FWD if you're an absolute newbie, then probably RWD.

    • @ColinLeung
      @ColinLeung  4 місяці тому +2

      Hello, most scooter batteries can be replaced by opening the housing underneath. I do not see a replacement battery from Wheelspeed, but you may be able to find the identical battery by searching the battery model number. Alternatively you can find a generic scooter battery with the same voltage, and dimensions that fit the housing. The website says the scooter is water resistant.

    • @ColinLeung
      @ColinLeung  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you. It's advertised up to 12 miles. I've found that riding them normally in S mode typically results in half of the advertised mileage. So D should be somewhere between 6 and 12 miles.

    Hi Colin, Do you have any idea on to remove the rear tire. The rear tyre on mine has gone flat and I have contacted many shops for help and no one seems to indulge in this as it may interrupt the whole electric part. It is literally impossible to remove the rear tires with this kind of a build. This is depressing as I am an international student and I have invested a lot of my daily expenses on buying this to commute but it has gone flat after 2 months only.

      Hello Awais, here's a vide of someone removing the rear tire off of the Wheelspeed Primer. The rear tire is most likely held on by two bolts, and you'd need to unplug the rear electric hub. ua-cam.com/video/5ykVZ4WOLVI/v-deo.htmlsi=3JHiWHcSyj3-HPKe

    Stay away from this company! The WS1 l model lasted just under a year. Very few parts on their website. Wheelspeed support is little to non existent ( they do not respond to emails) but then again they do not offer this model anymore and maybe moved on to selling and making money on their next model! Would not buy from this company ever again.
