  • September is underway and the fish are just starting to move into their fall positions. I may have missed a really good feed by about 30min and the next time I'm out I'm going to be casting small metal at anything that splashes (you'll see why on the underwater).

    Another fine video.
    Excellent narration on this one. Most don't realize the time and effort involved in these video productions.

    As always you definitely provide a different side of LI fishing since I don't fish the LI Sound. I wish I could find bigger sea bass in the bays. Orient point has been very hard to fish my last few trips. I've had to stay closer and thankfully the weakfish and jumbo porgies have been a lot of fun to catch. Some bluefish, a fluke where it wasn't expected. Montauk is quite a trip on my boat so we are doing a Miss Montauk trip tomorrow. Hoping the Seabass move into Orient soon, love catching them.

      hey robert, the keeper seabass have been tough to find lately, glad im not the only one then...weakfish have made a good end of summer appearance near me too, its great to see. I really like the miss montauk, septemeber is a good month out there too, hope you get a doormat, let me know!

    Went out yesterday in a small weather window (after Lee's winds but before Ophelia's rains). It was a fair day. Took the real long steam to the southern edge of Cox's, which is almost 35 miles out. Only a few seabass caught, a few ling, but plenty of scup and about a dozen nice keeper cod. Even two late season fluke. Last year, there was a 22-28 inch slot on cod. At least now, the slot is gone, but minimum size is 23 inches.

      Nice going on the cod Josh, hope the storms will get this fall season into gear. Thanks for the report as always

    that area has been productive for me as well. i coincidentally find myself out there the same day you film these videos. this day particularly i had a tough time getting the seabass to chew in these slick calm conditions, i didint have much of a drift. although i got into a pretty good pick of weakfish mid morning. i hit a public launch a little east of there. im sure you know where that is, i thought i saw somebody else out there in the distance that day! if you see a grey wilderness radar with a watersnake come say hello!

      Hey Matt! I think I’ve possibly seen you as well. I think it was Labor Day that I was more east of here and saw a kayaker a bit shallower as I passed through. Maybe it was you but maybe someone else. I don’t know how you lug your kayak back up that hill if it’s the launch I’m thinking about 😂
      Good to know about the weakfish, I found a good bite last year right about this time over there but a little deeper so it seems like there’s a pattern maybe. Cool to know though, if I see ya I’ll say hi 👋

    Hey Peter, great vid....always wanted to ask you what kayak do you use? i see this one is new, not the green one you use?

    • @PeterRanieriII
      @PeterRanieriII  11 місяців тому

      hey Alberto, thanks! I personally own the Hobie Compass 2021 which is the green one and since this area is a little tough to launch a bigger kayak and kind of far from my house, I use my dad's Hobie Passport 2021 10.5 which is the one in the video bc its just easier to launch and then I don't have to car top mine all the way from my house

    For me puffers definitely prefer clam but I also catch them on fish bites bloodworms I always keep some with me because you never know.
    I was watching a guy catch puffers once. He would clean them immediately an use their innards for bait. Lol

    • @PeterRanieriII
      @PeterRanieriII  11 місяців тому +1

      Good to know, i really like that idea of using the guts for bait! Puffers are delicious, we really dont get a whole lot of the northshore so I def will keep them when I can find them. I really need to bring some fish bite bloodworms next time, good call!

    Love your videos and great content as always but you are dropping those fish bc you’re messing around with your drag too much when you’re hooked up - quickest way to lose the fish.
