+Tinted Wisdom first can work but it takes more force to get it to move. you just need the engine to turn over. I've found on some bikes if you don't throw your weight into the ground as you drop the clutch the bike tyre can just lock and slide for a second, all of which is wasted energy.
Bump start it always in. higher gear.. it's to heavy of a gear to start in 1st. Especially that big of a bike. Use 2nd or 3rd gear.... hold in the clutch, let it roll, then once you have speed, stand up in the pegs, and at the same time sit-down and let oit the clutch and give it throttle...and boom! Itll start
For future reference, you usually put the bike in 2nd or 3rd gear (depending on how it's geared) when you attempt to roll / bump start it. Glad you made it down eventually, riding up Pike's Peak on my motorcycle is near the top of my list of things I really want to do in the near future.
Love your love for our mountains in CO! Think that was my buddy in the water truck at 6:00. He works maintenance on PP and probably has the best job of all time being outside every day there. Except for the snow plowing. Glad your survived!
Hey Walter, I found your videos about 5 days ago, and I have watched just about all the moto mondays and finally fridays. Let me just speak for everyone here, they are all great. I just wanted to comment because I have been watching so many of your videos. Have a great day. :)
rudy's is literally half a mile down the road from my work. crazy to think you were that close. I hope you enjoy Colorado. I love your videos. They are a nice bit of comfort when shit is hard
Thanks brotato chip, I cant believe you responded! Haha my mind is filled with random quotes from that movie. Id like to thank my childhood for this awesome moment.
Those bikes jump from the 12 volt accessory plug ,12000 feet in the air roll it off the side in 2nd or 3rd gear and pop the ole clutch. I have roll started bikes in 3rd or 4th gear on flat ground...Andrew and Josh do deserve REP some people are still nice.
Walter, I have watched a couple of your videos where you tried to push start a bike. You got it this time which is cool but try this if it happens again. Put the bike in 3rd gear, yes 3rd. hold the clutch and get a bit of momentum. Jump on the bike the "pop" the clutch. If you have a little juice in the battery it should start. Well as long as the bike is mechanically sound that is.
Went up Pike's Peak as a family many years ago. In Manitou Springs, it was shirt sleeve weather. Took the cog train up and at the summit, it was sleeting and about 40 mph winds. As a sea level dweller my entire life, I really had a hard time breathing up there. Beautiful scenery, tho.
When you roll it in gear, you spin the driveshaft, witch powers the alternator, witch gives power to the battery. If you couldnt start it by rolling just slowly charge up the battert while going downhill by pulling the cluch in then you loose speed and pulling the cluch on insted of pulling the brakes and electric start it in neutral on the bottom of the hill.
my gawd walter, stranded on a mountain with a flat battery. how convenient anice hill to bump start that thing. put it in 2e gear and if you lock up the rear then try and jump to put more weight on the rear when you let the clutch out. i had to walk 1.5 hours and push my bike home when the piston melted. i could not walk without pain for 2 days.
+Nick Childs big time youtuber got an Africa twin as his first bike , dropped it and recked it in the first week ( no motorcycle safety training before he go on it )
Hey Walter you need to rent a Honda Crosstourer 2014 . My dad rides one and it's amazing offroad and in mountains. Keep your Good vibes up and make everyone smile .
Just going to leave a comment before the video starts, I get excited when i watch the intro because i know it's going to be an awesome video, and as well it's the one and only WALTERRIFIC..... Love you man. Now time to continue the video :D.
Hey man my name is Cody and I 12 and I've been a long time subscriber and I love your vids sooooo much you have changed my life a lot you are the best if you can make a vid bout this plz do if your still here in the springs can we meet up I would love to like I said can you make a bid by this your the best thx for helping me
Walter at 1:48 that big van in front of you that was my family's car and right now I'm dieing laughing because I never in life thought I was going to be in one of your videos lol but I love your videos so keep up the amazing work
Couple of things. Holding the throttle open on a fuel injected bike will just make it choke on startup. And you bump start in 2nd, 1st just locks the wheel.
i used to drive a honda cb 500 which i regularly started on a flat surface (dieing battery and me being too lazy too buy a new one). put in second gear - ignition on - push it - jump on and release the clutch. i guess it gets harder the more cc you have but i started my car the same way which has 1800 so.. shouldn't be too hard to do (especially if you have a hill to get it rolling)
You are supposed to try to roll start it in first. Leave the switch in running, pop it into first, and ease it into the friction point in the clutch. The trick is letting the clutch out at just the right time, and then also not too slowly.. (I know this because I've had to do it multiple times when my bike's battery died, and that tsunami wiped out all of the battery manufacturers in Japan, so I couldn't get a replacement for a whole season.) Maybe the air was too thin and the fuel just wasn't combusting.
Hey Walter, at 1:13 were you at Rudy's in Colorado Springs? My Army buddies and I used to go there for lunch occasionally. Definitely a good place to stop if you haven't been there!
We already have waaaaay tooooo many visitors & tourists & people from other places moving to or visiting Colorado, but I'm pretty sure there's room for a guy from Kansas who has such great enthusiasm for this state. Of course you still have not been up the pass to the Woodland Park & Divine area, you're missing out.
i think its funny how many people cant roll start a bike. 2nd gear, turn the key on, make sure the kill switch is in run, get up to about 10-20 mph (depends on gearing) drop the clutch. its that easy! first gear usually will drag the tire, and not rotate the engine, which is why you ALWAYS use 2nd gear.
Walter bro! Firstly, love your work, second, bigger bikes wanna be started in 2nd or 3rd gear... there's a technique, you gotta do a body-drop onto the seat as you let the clutch out, like triples the effective traction your bask wheel has, have started my 690 like that a few times when the battery decided to change its mind about working... :)
Grandfather mountain in North Carolina is kinda like this mountain except you walk across a mile high bridge (from ocean to the height of the bridge) and walk a trail where you climb a few rocks and then the best view you can see is surrounding you.
Walter... you realize they race up Pike's Peak right? You think that might be where the damage is from? When you notice the battery is weak stop trying to crank it over and just either ghost ride it down (coast) or leave the battery to power the electronics and bump start it. Put it in second, pull in the clutch get going down the hill and bounce on it while dumping the clutch, should start. But if you keep cranking it to the point that it does nothing it won't have enough battery to trigger the computer and no matter what you do it won't start till you get it charged up.
Everytime I hear you say Dog! it makes me smiles so much haha I do that same when I ride :D Love it man, keep up the awesome work :D Insert Brofist Here
You're supposed to run start it in second gear, if the bike is fuel injected it's hard af to do it in first, they need a lot more power to start because the injectors need it. I tried my sv in first a few times and at 7-10 i kept skidding the wheel.
I know its nearly 3 years later lol. Just discovered your channel so binge watching :D Better than netflix. But I believe at around 3 minutes there was a broken barrier, I wanna say an evo driver was drifting round and rolled down the side.. done a total of around 15 flips before the car stopped. He came out alive. I got this information off of Ken Blocks Hoonigan Series where Ken was drifting at 14000 ft in his ford f150. If you see this please heart
2:15 there is a trail i went on.also walterrific if u are reading this you motivated me to talk people on the dirt bike track i go to. I also enjoy watching your videos and watch every new one. P.S i have watched every video on your channel. And i always will. oh also hope we meet some day.
Next time you come to colorado, you should check out Bishops Castle. And yeah we have no air here in colorado lol so that breathing apparatus would be smart lol.
What's a good beginner bike to start out with? Use to ride dirt bikes when I was younger and now after watching like 30 of your vids I want to get my motor cycle license
Don't roll start in first gear, use second or even third.
I agree. Never had to try third though personally, second usually works like a charm
When he said "First Gear" I thought AHHHHH NO! Second gear not first!
why second and not first? with my yz125 ive always used 1st and its always been fine
+Tinted Wisdom first can work but it takes more force to get it to move. you just need the engine to turn over. I've found on some bikes if you don't throw your weight into the ground as you drop the clutch the bike tyre can just lock and slide for a second, all of which is wasted energy.
Nat Riding Two true. Thank you
Upvote for walter
the Battery is on the left side of the bike behind the little black box on the side.
in case u ever get to ride it again :D

2nd gear is a better start gear.

If Walter asks for help in his full armour with his helmet I think some people would get a little scared.
We're moving back home to Castle Rock in 2 LOOOOOOOONG months. Great to see you riding through it.
Please do a full video on your piano ? Your Instagram video was so beautiful xxx
rudy's is literally half a mile down the road from my work. crazy to think you were that close. I hope you enjoy Colorado. I love your videos. They are a nice bit of comfort when shit is hard

+WALTERRIFIC is that your bike
+GTA 5 ONLINE KING Watch the video. He sates multiple times its a rental.
+WALTERRIFIC you need to get that bike you look awsome on it.
"No drones? THAT SUCKS!" That part had me crying 😂
The park Ranger lady was hot! And that bike is much better then the crotch rockets :)
That's subjective.
Pikes peak? The moment I heard it I thought: prepare to be out of breath
Always good to know how to push start a vehicle. See, always so positive even in the face of certain doom and lateness.
I couldn't stop myself from screaming "ROLL START IT!!!" until you finally chose to do so.
Well as long as the bike is mechanically sound that is.
next time use higher gears to roll start it.
I recommend using second gear for a roll start. 1st gear can just lock up the back tire. which could be bad going down a mountain.
take that africa twin offroad please!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
+Hit And Runn aren't you funny
I know this is old, but I remember going up this when it was all dirt. Now that it is paved I have yet to go, it was cool to see
BAHAHHAHA oh my gosh this is hilarious

Where do you leave Ronin when you go on trips?
When you roll it in gear, you spin the driveshaft, witch powers the alternator, witch gives power to the battery. 5:47 I AM STRANDED....... IN SPACE!!!!!!
You should of had one of those famous doughnuts up there! Wish I could of met you, glad you enjoyed being back here for a visit!
7:00 Wtf? 😂
my gawd walter, stranded on a mountain with a flat battery. how convenient anice hill to bump start that thing. put it in 2e gear and if you lock up the rear then try and jump to put more weight on the rear when you let the clutch out. i had to walk 1.5 hours and push my bike home when the piston melted. i could not walk without pain for 2 days.
Hey at least it didn’t die on the way up
Pretty sure the reason it died was because the engine had no oxygen atleast with cars if the air is too thin the engine wont start
Hi its 2021 now and I watch this every day it just continues to be more funny
Curvature of the horizon? What, what? The earth is flat!
As theta approaches zero, the Earth is flat. Light bends making people think it's round, especially in Colorado at high altitude.
Lol
+Ghee Dogg i thought i was the only one who belived it was flat
+Tony Bamanaboni believed*
Omg😂😂😂😂
Rode this same road with my dad and uncles extremely fun im about to buy my first bike and have always loved your channel!
Don't pull a Fouseytube
Ha!
I feel fortunate because I don't understand what you're referencing.
+Nick Childs big time youtuber got an Africa twin as his first bike , dropped it and recked it in the first week ( no motorcycle safety training before he go on it )
Was he trying to be one of the crossover vbloggers? I hear that can be a disaster.
Fouseytube knows nothing about bikes
Hey Walter you need to rent a Honda Crosstourer 2014 . My dad rides one and it's amazing offroad and in mountains. Keep your Good vibes up and make everyone smile .
There is the real reason you were late lol. Glad they were there to help you walk it up the lip.

"if its stupid but it works, its no longer stupid" and i never strap my mower down either XD
love the vids walter
The answer to why you were late to the fan meet is here! Lol glad you made it down. We all appreciate it that you still made it
When I went to Colorado it was negative most of it, but when I went up Pikes Peek the lake was FROZEN!
thnx Josh and Andrew for saving my favorite rider fellas!
It's so cool seeing all my local roads here.
That bike really fits you walter
I think changing the fairings(if you got one) would seal the deal
Love the Colorado videos man. I go on vacation there as much as possible so its really cool to see roads i recognize
Walter at 1:48 that big van in front of you that was my family's car and right now I'm dieing laughing because I never in life thought I was going to be in one of your videos lol but I love your videos so keep up the amazing work

Good advert for the bike.
Honda Africa Twin. For when you need to get stranded.
Reminds me of that episode of Top Gear where they were pushing the Range Rover on top of the mountain.
Mesidg yeah one of my favourite episodes.
i used to drive a honda cb 500 which i regularly started on a flat surface (dieing battery and me being too lazy too buy a new one). put in second gear - ignition on - push it - jump on and release the clutch.

You're funny. I love your humor and the face drawings that add to your commentary so much. :D
I have been to Colorado 5 times and I have been to that lake and there is a waterfall and it is beautiful that pond is so sallow too.
Hey Walter, at 1:13 were you at Rudy's in Colorado Springs? My Army buddies and I used to go there for lunch occasionally. Definitely a good place to stop if you haven't been there!
I was in that group of sport bikes. The high altitude makes you run of breathe easily. Bummer I missed my chance of meeting you in person.😭
Usually easier to roll start in a higher gear, just for future reference. I usually use 3rd or 4th
We already have waaaaay tooooo many visitors & tourists & people from other places moving to or visiting Colorado, but I'm pretty sure there's room for a guy from Kansas who has such great enthusiasm for this state. Awesome trip! Take a trip to New Hampshire and ride up Mt. Washington. The views are just as amazing.
So bummed! Was just in CO myself for a trip, had no idea I should have been stalking you while there...argh! Glad you made it back from space ok!
You do know back in high school they teach you that Mountains contain some ore or materials that interferes with electricity.
I climbed up pikes peak this week, instantly reminded me of this video!
1:33 You were probably distracted by the older park ranger. But behind him was a womans park ranger that was veeerrryy niiiicceee.
12:50 at night and I keep saying I’ll go to bed but I have like 200 moto Monday’s to watch
Walter... you realize they race up Pike's Peak right? You think that might be where the damage is from? Hey sorry you got stranded, but thank you for not cancelling the meet and greet completely. My kids and I appreciated the opportunity to meet you.
You're supposed to run start it in second gear, if the bike is fuel injected it's hard af to do it in first, they need a lot more power to start because the injectors need it. I tried my sv in first a few times and at 7-10 i kept skidding the wheel.
So that's why we all waited TWO FRICKEN HOURS for the meet. Worth it. Even though i was almost too shy to meet you.
Now you have a nice story you can tell your children when you get them. Nice video Walter!
Ken Block (best drifter) actually drifted his Hoonicorn (1965 Ford Mustang) here for one of his Gymkana
Im from Colorado my man!Hope you enjoyed it up here
Should come check out Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, really nice for riding.
Pikes Peak is amazing I love waking up everyday and seeing it out my window
Welcome to Colorado. Now you need to visit Mt Evans and Trail Ridge Road
2:15 there is a trail i went on.also walterrific if u are reading this you motivated me to talk people on the dirt bike track i go to. I also enjoy watching your videos and watch every new one. P.S i have watched every video on your channel. And i always will. oh also hope we meet some day.
i mean this walter
Oh that's the mountain is where Toyoda tires filmed Ken block filmed 1 drift vid btw cool vid love when you put the meme faces
My guess is that the integrated GPS ate up the battery. Times like these make me glad I have a carbureted bike with a kickstarter
You’re videos make a man happy after a heart break :)
Thank you!
Next time you come to colorado, you should check out Bishops Castle. And yeah we have no air here in colorado lol so that breathing apparatus would be smart lol.
Walter , have you finished your song from Moto Monday #53 ? i want to hear it complete
Where do you get the faces
You need to like set up a meet and greet lol. It's killing me knowing I'm only 10 minutes from Pike Peak and have yet to see or meet you!
What's a good beginner bike to start out with? Use to ride dirt bikes when I was younger and now after watching like 30 of your vids I want to get my motor cycle license
