      Welllllll, maybe best WWII fighter! It's my favorite, but the Lockheed Constellation is hands down the most beautiful prop airplane ever created! IMHO and of many others. I love radial engined a/c.

      @@infledermaus I agree with you Mr. Bat....the Connie is truly a most beautiful design...but a transport and airliner....when it comes to fighters...it's the jug !!!!!!!

      It has a crude thuggish beauty that I love but the De Havilland Hornet takes first place for me for beauty

      IMHO - The F4U-4, P-47, P-38L…then the P-51D..

    Pretty sure this is the P-47 that was partially restored in Tulsa,ok.in the early 80's by Ken Sternberg Aircraft ,it was wrecked in Barstow,Ca.by David Talichitt.(don't know if I spelled his name correctly..This aircraft was at Harvey Young Airport..Sternberg and David T.had a falling out and he had all his men come to Tulsa clear the place out of the P-47,P-38,acouple P-39s and Spitfires..And they stole all my tools at that,wasn't around at the time.The P-47,was almost finished with an overhauled engine and painted real zinc chromate green..I know this cause I worked for Sternberg for 2 years early in my aviation career and have plenty of pics of all these aircraft in various stages of restoration..I do believe Sternberg was a little shady with David Ts..money but pretty sure there both now in aviation heaven..Read a story about David passing a few years back.But Sternberg couldn't of lasted to much longer as he was the heaviest smoker I ever seen in my life,so much so that the windshield of his car on the inside was brown from him hacking up all the time.This P-47 was one of 6 I do beleive that where retrieved from Peru in the 70's..True absolute story..

    Yep my dad used these in war. My dad was one of the first in the european theater. He was a very brave man. He crashed one twice. Once he hid in a haystack for 3 days. On the 4th day without water some came in a jeep he thought it was the other side. But he was dying so he put his hands behind his head. Walked towards it. Lucked out it was our side.

    Good God almighty, it's no wonder the Luftwaffe got the snot kicked out of it.
    It was like entering a hockey player in a figure skating contest, might as well just cut the Hanson Brothers lose on the Ice Capades, every time one of those figure skaters got slammed against the boards the body parts would just go flying, all that blood all over the ice, oh the humanity.

    I can't believe that guy is standing on front of the plane & prop when he is reverving for full power. If that plane jumped off the one chalk. Obviously he has the brakes on too, but still he would be sliced cheese.....

    • @lukewise1227
      @lukewise1227 9 місяців тому

      It's actually an illusion caused by a short depth of field lense/aperture setting on cheap auto focus cameras and smartphones. He is actually standing left of the port wing tip and has a fire extinguisher at the ready. Standard procedure for all old warbirds, should there be an engine fire. The aircraft are way too valuable and rare.
