The KONG™ - The Windshield Removal King
Imagine cutting across the dash and headliner of a windshield simultaneously, without any need to re-position the tool! Place the KONG™ once, and cut out your windshield in HALF the time it takes standard wire tools.
    Precision Machined Dual Cutting
The KONG™ tool body is precision machined out of 6061 aluminum with two offset ergonomic pulleys for dual cutting. Imagine cutting the urethane across the dash and headliner of a windshield simultaneously; this was impossible until the introduction of the KONG™!
    One Position, One Cut
The KONG™ is easy to use, there is no need for additional pulleys or equipment to be attached to the interior of the windshield. With its dual cutting technology, a specialist can cut the windshield out in half the time of standard wire cutting methods from one position.
    Locking Back Drive
If we haven’t exhausted our resources enough, the KONG™ also features a locking back drive that prevents the cord from releasing or slipping under tension during use.

I bought one of these to resell - I've demonstrated it 3 times, but no one buys it once they see how the string breaks (using Gorilla Cord, or the new Zipline extra strength). I set it up yesterday just like this video and sprayed lubricant all around the windshield. It busted the string right away. So I tried again - busted the string again after cutting about 4".
It took about 3 hours to remove a 2016 Ram 2500 windshield, and I only got it out by pulling on 1 Zipline cord at a time and allowing the other end to slightly slip as it wound into the Kong machine.
Until someone invents a much stronger or much thinner string, this method seems to only work well with certain aftermarket urethanes. String gutting is great as far as not damaging the pinch weld, but the factory stock urethanes seem to be way too hard to cut with the Zipline II or Gorilla cord.
I've considered using windshield wire, but afraid if it broke, it would cause a lot more damage than a string breaking.

Man im not sure whats going on with the cord you are getting. We started using gorilla cord about 2 months ago and have only broken it once and that was because it caught on a piece of metal that was fairly substantial. We dont use it every day, only on vehicles that require it but just for kicks we hook it up on a dw1685 prostar windshield and cut the whole thing out no problem except for where it sits on the stops. It busts thru factory setting pins no problem as well. So im not sure whats go in on there but maybe the technique your using isnt quite right? Or could be defective cord to. Dont know for sure but we absolutely love ours it comes through clutch when you need it.

I'd like to use it on DW1494 Freightliner M2 using a power drill. With the dual drive pulling both cords I wouldn't trust this tool for a rookie. The tool seems to be very well built and looks promising and built to last. I'd like to have one to test it out on certain glass. R&I on Back glasses some quarter glasses. This is like a toy for auto glass technicians.

Lol considering how easy it was to cut it with the sawall attachment. Might as well finish the job with it 😂

Seems like it would be a nightmare for curved windshields. Say a charger, it would put a lot of line pressure on the dash and you’d have to keep it off the headliner.
Plus the no give system seems it will constantly break line.

I've got the original version which is awkward , heavy and clumsy. Can it be returned for a rebuild or upfit ?

Hi Tom, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately the mounting pattern for the rear end on our new Kong assembly is different from the old assembly that you have. We could retrofit your current tool but you will be paying for shipping both ways and essentially a whole new tool aside from the suction cup. Your most cost-effective option will be to buy a new Kong tool only (AGWC-K) during one of our sale periods. I would check our site later this week.
