      So many of us Eos R users would, I did fine that you can use the Canon connect app and use live few, adjust the focus there for each shot then go to dpp and stack them. So it can be achieved.

    Dom
    Your videos have been a great help to me. Moved from film to EOS RP. I hope you look at comments even if your video was a while ago. You were disappointing that JPEG after Depth Composting can''t really be worked with. It can, I found out. To get many basic adjustments you go to the Tone Curve Tab also you can use the Color Adjustment tab. Maybe others also haven't checked.
    Funny thing I use manual focus all the time for landscape and the most recent comment was asking if DPP4 would compost. I just finished a test and it does, cool. I used just 3 images on tripod. Didn't want to shake and confuse the thing. You could do a new video on working JPEG once you poke around a find out just how much it can do. Again great work.

    Is there any reason why you could not just use a greater depth of field and get the same result with one frame, or is does this system make it sharper? I take it this would not work with a macro lens because the focus area is too small and is why you would have to use photo stacking. Thanks for another great video, it is only through your videos have I realized how much there is to DPP4

    • @DomsMediaZone
      @DomsMediaZone  2 роки тому

      Thank you so much for watching and for the question, yes you are correct, this process is primarily aimed for Macro photography but can be used with other lenses however you could probably achieve the same thing by increasing the F number.

    Very well done video Dom. I’m wondering if I could take all the images completely manually. I have a Tamron 90mm macro lens. Not supported for Canon focus stacking. I would try to take a number of shots by adjusting the focus myself a bit at a time til I get the required number. Then did what you did with DPP4.

      You could still use DPP4 you just have to manually choose how many shots you want to take and manually advance the focus for each shot. Then the rest of the process in DPP4 is the same you select all of your shots to stack the focus on and use the DPP4 tool same result just not having the camera body auto advancing the focus you have to do that manually, I do that often on my bodies that do not have focus bracketing

    Great tutorial and I was eager to get started. Forgive my ignorance but I fell at the first hurdle though. I can't select the two images I want to make a composite image from, despite re-watching how you do it a million times! I'm using a Mac so maybe that's the issue...?

      Hi Thank you for the kind comment and for watching. So on Windows I hold the control key and just click. On MAC I believe you need to press and hold the Command key, then click the items. Hope this helps.

    Do you think we can do it with a camera wich don't have an in-body focus bracketing mode?

    • @DomsMediaZone
      @DomsMediaZone  Рік тому

      You would probably need to manual adjust the focus but you would need to be super careful not to move the camera when adjusting the focus. It could prove tricky.

  • @usernamemykel

    At 12:16, to select all photos you are using Ctrl + WHAT? That wasn't clear.

  • @frankcostantini2756
    @frankcostantini2756 2 роки тому +1

    Selecting the number of shots and focus increment, so that you include the whole object from front to back, seems very hit-or-miss, since there are no units of depth/distance in the menu item. It would be better if you could focus on the front, then the back, to tell the camera what interval to cover with images

    • @DomsMediaZone

      To be honest I don't use Focus Bracketing very often but it's really handy for those into Micro photography.

    • @DomsMediaZone
      @DomsMediaZone  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and for the question, it's most likely because you are combining multiple photos into 1 photo so it wouldn't know which ones metadata to keep. Not sure there is a solution for this at the moment.

      Hi Thanks for the question, yes, I have just tested this. So I edited the CR3 files and saved the edited ones as a JPG. It still let me focus stack them. Don't crop them or change the orientation however as they need to align.

    I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong.
    I did all settings like you did and there are all the entered number of fotos taken but each foto is having the same focus. It is just not incrementing the focus distance.
    Is there any specific setting required on the lens itself? Stabilizing is switched off but has AF still on. Also what should be the setting for focus on the lens? 0.3 it 0.5 or 0.3 to infinity? Using the 90D with the canon 100mm Macro IS USM

    • @DomsMediaZone
      @DomsMediaZone  Рік тому

      Hi Lucas, It sounds like you have auto focus switched on, so I disabled the auto focus by using the camera menu (Show at 8:10 in the video). The actual lens must be in AF mode.

    • @Lucas_Pit
      @Lucas_Pit Рік тому

      @@DomsMediaZone thanks for feedback. That might be it indeed. Think i switched off also on the lens. Makes sense to leave that on now i think about it. Love the hobby but it is for sure not something to take lightly making nice fotos. It shouldnt be underestimated at all. Got alot to learn, but i see it as part of the experience. Thanks again

      Hi, thanks for the question. Can you confirm that you are in the live view move (The mode that displays the view on the screen) ? That function is only available by going to the menu from the live view. I wouldn't think the lens had anything to do with it.
