Epic video boys! Some special catches in this video. I've caught 100s of lake trout in my lifetime up here in Atikokan but my PB is only 26". I am the self proclaimed king of cookie cutters lol. Hopefully that changes this Sumner when I go to the arctic. If I can't beat 26" in Great Bear Lake I'll quit fishing trout hahaha.
That’s interesting, and a crazy coincidence considering the amount you’ve caught! I’m sure you’ll catch plenty over 26 on that trip. I’m super jealous!!
We found them behind our campsite! They were a little past prime, but they fried up quite nicely. I do a lot of foraging in the BW, most chanterelles I’ve found between July and early September, always after big rains in the vicinity of red pines. Oyster mushrooms near Aspen blow downs in June/July, tons of boletes and lobster mushrooms July through September. Puffballs and hericium all summer. Still haven’t found morels yet, but they’re around!
I haven’t done hardly any filming this winter. Poor weather and recovery from back surgery and a broken rib in January have kept me from doing much outside this winter, mostly fishing day trips. This might be my first winter since moving up here in 2018 that I haven’t been winter camping :(
@@eduffy4937 slipped a disc in my back that was so bad it was pinching my sciatic nerve, had to have surgery to repair. Then, in January, I slipped on the ice and fell awkwardly and broke a rib…
@@therealfarwater I've had a few broken/bruised ribs. They're aweful. Had the luxury of getting a terrible respiratory infection after so was constantly hacking. Ugh. Well hope to see ya getting back into the park soon man.
For most of this day, there was almost zero wind, so we just paddled around watching our sonar for schools of baitfish and/or trout and dropped our baits down on them. When the wind picked up, we used drift socks. Since we were in such deep water (40-90’), we wouldn’t have been able to use anchors effectively
@@therealfarwater awesome. Yes it looked like the weather was awesome for you all. Beautiful scenery great friends nice fishing what a trip. Thanks Eric.
Awesome fish! Love the underwater shots.
Thank you!
Arg, that's a hell of a lake. Caught a low 30s length off shore one morning last time I was there like 15 yrs ago. Fun stuff!
She’s full of em! We only had a day and a half to fish before the season ended and we caught 65+ between the three of us. Twas epic!
Awesome series so far. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!!

Are you actually anchored this time or are you using some sort of anchoring system? You guys are barely drifting.

@@DRazz86 No, thank YOU for watching!
@@therealfarwater I found out that there is a few sizes of drift socks around. What size is the size you’re using on this trip?
@@DRazz86 it’s the smallest size you can buy for motorboats, designed for boats as small as 12-14’.
What month is this video shot in?
Late September, very end of the Lake Trout season
@therealfarwater epic looking trip. Good editing too!
Which lake?
I’d prefer not to mention it here, go ahead and email me farwaterllc@gmail.com if you’d like trip details.
