Sublime! I dedicate this harp version of Clair de Lune to My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife (in Heaven since Nov. 21/22, 2010). MY BARBRA ROSE, this other-worldly-beautiful melody was (and remains) our favorite Classical composition. I played the version by The London Philharmonic (conducted by Bernard Herrmann) many times for us while you were with me in this life. I pray that you can hear this from your mansion and rose garden in Heaven. On Valentine's Day 2012 I tell the world I love you forever!
I love Debussy since decades. He's one of my favorite composers ever. Listening to this I thought that there is something beyond any explanation. What a fortune to have somebody wo creates such divine music and another one who plays it that way. It reaches the deepest core of heart and soul. I can only thank everybody: Monsieur D., Monsieur X. de M. and harpobird.
Mr. de Maistre, thank you for sharing with us a little bit of heaven. May you have many more years of masterful renditions such as this one. God bless you always!
Wow! What a beautiful video this is. I just love the sound of the harp. It is so soothing and relaxing to the mind, body and soul. This wonderfull piece is one of my favorites in the world. I'm very pleased to have found a fellow youtuber who enjoys lovely classics such as Debussy, Bach and many others. Many thanks to you my friend. :)
I think that is one of the most beautiful performances of Clair de Lune I have ever heard. And just beautiful technique! I tell all of my students to watch your videos for inspiration!
yep, if ever a man looked,..and played..the part!!....wonderful!...i love the harp, best of all,...it lifts my spirits, and makes me feel really "alive" in the moment.
I can't beleive how hard this piece must be on the harp. His feet must be stompin like crazy on those pedals. You do notice some notes edited away in the transcribation but hardly noticeable and wonderful performance!
Hi. The more I watch of his playing the more inspirational. I had instructors in the French Method as well as Salzedo...I would say he is of the French School. My former teacher, a strict Salzedo...thought he was too much of a showman, but I truly believe he is playing and deeply feeling the music and that is why he plays so wonderfully. I decided I don't like "stiff" looking harpists. They look robotic. What do you think?
@thatmoviechick4 Is he? Nowhwere does it say what nationality he is or where he was born. Not even on the official website! I wonder why his early (and even present) life is such a mystery. Any details?
Actually, the modern pedal harp IS a fully chromatic instrument, but the accidentals have to play accomplished by shifting 7 foot pedals around, so it really is more difficult to play highly chromatic music on the pedal harp.

harpobird and Xavier de Maistre appear to be the same person...
C'est magnifique!
Absolutely stunning.
Sublime. All those arpeggios are so crisp and delicate
That interpretation. Those feelings. And the touch. AMAZING
Ca musique est tres jolie. Il est tres beau, et je l'adore. Il me fait craquer.
I like the emotions in this version. I did not know that the harp can move while being played :) The harp player is also handsome.

JUST BEAUTIFUL, SO WELL PLAYED.
This is the best interpretation of Clair de Lune I've heard on the harp.
First heard this played by my sister in law when I was just 10 years old. It has been my favorite now for over 50 years!
the most beutiful music i've ever heard, imagine what the pleasure it is to play Clair de lune
Beautiful performance, rich in nuance and feeling.
Amazing. Doesn't sound like an adaption from piano. As he plays it sounds like that it was written originally for harp.
fruzsimano both based on strings, so sound very much alike
C E LE S T I A L *... And he looks like an angel!
yep, if ever a man looked,..and played..the part!!....wonderful!...i love the harp, best of all,...it lifts my spirits, and makes me feel really "alive" in the moment.
A great performance!
Aaaaaaaaaaaah MERCI !!!!!!!!! je l'ai enfin trouvé !!
Thankyouthankyouthankyou !! One of the best (if not the best) harp players of the decade.
Fabulous, and thanks so much for sharing!
Som lindo!! Sem palavras pra descrever!!!
where is the pleasure in rushing through such a beautiful work?
that is how i feel
A great affinity for this awesome piece of music. Even Debuussy would have been proud! Bravo!
I can't beleive how hard this piece must be on the harp. His feet must be stompin like crazy on those pedals. You do notice some notes edited away in the transcribation but hardly noticeable and wonderful performance!
Fantastique!!!🎶❤️👏👏👏
So wonderful
my favorite piece just perfectly played
Excelente.
Was in a daze while he was playing and only the clapping brought me back to reality.
Glorious. Thank you so much!
Loops hit enter to quick! The rest should say... Has made a harp lover out of me. Just beautiful!
An absolute WOW!!!!!!!!!
Superb ! better than the original played on piano..... so expressive.
Flawless! Bravo!
Marvelous.TY
Beaucoup de talent EXTRA !!!
Grande e magnifico!
Stunning ! 🙌
I, too, am a harpist and I think he is just amazing....both his interpretations and showmanship. Wish I could meet him!
Magnificent!!!
Beautiful.
Enchanting.
Just amazing! Thanks.
Amazing! Well done!!!
Hi. I live in Nevada, USA. I will look for his CD...thanks for the information.
This music is so beautiful, and then you see comments with crass words and wince.
Harp is like the piano chopin was composing for...
no, I mean Chopin plays piano so delicately in some of his pieces. I know this is by Debussy :P
*writes, plays, w/e :P
Harp sounds like guitar and piano at the same time
1:43 that shit is just magical.
beautiful.

wow, that is stunning!
Magic ♫♥
So beautiful :) I will learn this piece if it kills me!! :)
Magnifico
I wish I could here this live :)
@thatmoviechick4 Is he? Nowhwere does it say what nationality he is or where he was born. Not even on the official website! I wonder why his early (and even present) life is such a mystery. Any details?
I agree! The music is just enchanting.. Just watch your language bro, haha!
Does anyone know who he studied with? Is he of the French School or Salzedo? His interpretations and hand movements are just so perfect!
@danieledwardscarrots I feel the same but with "la fille au cheveu de lin" by Debussy
this so get, i get it mp3 and i can't stop listening to it
Un capo, lo amo
I love how right at the end of the piece, someone sneezes.
Ah, you really understood the song!
Does anyone know which arrangement this is for the harp? There are so many (Grandjany, Salzedo, Burton, Brundage, etc......)
None of those.
how would you take that thing apart to transport it
There is a special case for the harp
There are also little wheels to transport it trough places
MAGNIFIQUE ?!
Very Beautifull
but didn't he miss one note or something at 3:10-3:11, sounds strange for me, I'm wrong?
I agree 100%
Is this piece transposed up a half step or is it just the recording?
very true
😭
where did he make an error?
Corey Fieldman plays harp now??
Epic ending... ASHUU!!!
fantastic... but its been down loaded too quiet i can just about hear it .

By the hair, I remembered Anakin Skywalker.
That's the thing, the cameramen don't really know what to point the camera at: they never show the feet.
Ecstasy for my ears!
@thatmoviechick4 Especially since he seems to speak German and French with equal ease but can barely speak English?
Xavier de maistre
can't hear it, but zing went the stings of my harp.
fuck.. dis shit is crazy
thumbs up!!!
Spoiler alert.... he NAILS it!
Why does this always make the audience sneeze?
Wonder how much and pro Harper ha jk makes are their and electric harp metal played that thrash haha that would be dope
this is how the angels sound when they're talking.
