It is an interesting arrangement. I feel the piece loses all of its steam at the end with the harp cadenza unlike other arrangements that don't pause the climax. If you have a chance to get to Boston to hear the Boston Pops Orchestra, especially with Mr. Williams who still comes once a year, that would blow your mind if you enjoy this orchestra.

The break at the end is to give ET's starship time to lift off and float away. It was completely unnecessary to fill it up with the improv.
