Well, it's pretty much a closed case. Just remember what happened when Daniel in chapter 9 was waiting for an answer from God concerning what the people of Israel should do after the 70 years of captivity. Then in Daniel 10:13 the angel told Daniel that Michael was the prince of his people but just one of the princes that exist out there. It also mentions the prince of Persia as an opposing faction. This proves that fallen angels can be the ones staying in the shadows, the real power behind the throne, while the archangel Michael oversees Israel on God's behalf. So the devil can perfectly be the force empowering the king of Babylon back in the days.

It wasn’t Satan who tempted Eve. It was a serpent. And for its punishment, it was made to crawl the earth on its belly. Meaning the serpent originally had limbs or perhaps wings, something that kept it from slithering on the ground.

I appreciate your response and I am aware of what you mention in both part 1 and part 2.
I would say there is evidence of Satan being used as both a refrence to attributes and also linked to an individual fallen angel.
Job mentions an example of Satan coming with the other angeles to God to give an account of what He has been up to . That sounds more like a refrence to a being than just a concept. He is addressed in the Bible by multiple names which describe him father of lies , the devil that ancient serpent and so on.
Where we may differ is that Satan can only be reffered to as a descriptive personality trait -accuser and not the devil as well.
Jesus, we can argue isn't the Lord's proper name either He also has many descriptive names as well Son of man ,king of kings , the Anoited One , lion from the Tribe of Judah , Lamb of God , savoir and so on.But again this doesn't mean that these descriptive names do not refer to Christ the individual as well.
So my question is do you believe that there is a fallen angelic being that the Lord mentions falling from the heavens ? I do.
I view the Lord being tested and tempted in the wilderness by an evil spiritual being with a presence, intellect and a will and possessing not merely a trait but traits .
The Father of lies denotes a source a start of a behavoir - an individual.

Fairly good breakdown but if you only had read ONE more scripture, Isaiah 14:16, not stop at v.15 but one more... “They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the MAN that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;”. It's clear as day that Lucifer is the Latin word for "morning star," translated from the Hebrew word "Haylale" so the translators took the Latin word instead of the Hebrew word. V.12 should read, in English, "O Morning star", not "O Lucifer." It's not talking about Satan, it's talking about Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon (Isaiah 14:4). And he being cast down from heaven is the same for the Israelites in Lamentations 2:1, "How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger!" It's not talking about literal heaven. It's talking about a haughty position, a prideful position, and being humbled.

Hi! I really think the point of the passage of Isaiah 14:12-15, the Almighty God was speaking to Lucifer through the King because Lucifer had taken over the King's Spirit that had caused him to be an evil man, so God had to remind Lucifer why he had been casted out of heaven because of Lucifer's desire to be God.

I think you’re onto something. If what you say is true, I think something that supports your theory is when Jesus told Satan (not necessarily one of his disciple) in the NT to get behind him. “ But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” -Matthew 16:23

In mainstream Biblical scholarship, most biblical scholars identify that the term "Lucifer" in Isaiah 14:12 refers to a Babylonian king, not a satan (adversary), and that the later identification of Lucifer with Satan is a post-biblical development. Early Christian theologians like Justin Martyr in the 2nd century CE first linked Lucifer with Satan, and Jerome's 4th-century Latin translation in the Vulgate further cemented the use of "Lucifer" as a reference to Satan. It wasn't until about 160 CE when Lucifer and Satan were identified as an ultimate malevolent being. That said, given all this occurred in the first centuries of Christian Tradition, it's extremely difficult to unwind and unsee Lucifer as Satan in popular Christian tradition. Reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin were steeped in the theological traditions of the Church, including the widely held belief, supported by the Vulgate rather than the original manuscripts or the authors beliefs, that Lucifer in Isaiah 14 was a reference to the fall of Satan. Basically, nobody writing any part of the Bible and no character in the Bible believed Lucifer to be Satan; it's 2nd century and after Christian tradition. I find it a little disappointing that the video doesn't describe the history of how all this developed over the centuries.

    Isaiah 14:12-15
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”
13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
That pretty much sums up who he is. Satan fell in the first earth age. He is the son of the morning. Reve 12:7-9 clearly states that Michael will cast him out of heaven to this earth. Satan wanted to be Christ in the first earth age. He worked his way to top and God gave him the position to guard the mercy seat bc he earned it. But he didn’t want to guard it but instead sit on it. He became prideful and stopped loving God. That was his downfall. Satan has many names just as our Father does.

I think a lot of comments are missing the point or don't understand the question.
Lucifer is not another name for "Satan" or a proper name at all.
The text in Isaiah translates from Hebrew, to Greek to the Latin (Lucifer)
    Hebrew:
helel ben-sahar -"Shining one, son of dawn"
    Greek:
    Phosphoros(shining)Eosphorou (dawn/morning)
    Latin:
    Lucifer (bright one/Venus) Aurorae (dawn/morning)
Lucifer simply describes the shining one, light bringere...the planet Venus as seen in the morning sky.

    Revelation 22:16 (NKJV)
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
lucifer is a depiction of man (not Satan) - like ADAM who was prestigiously made - gave up his right to operate in the image and likens God - fell from that position - Jesus comes to redeem and reposition the church as the Morning Star!
Satan was Liar and murderer from the beginning. Plus, when did the king of Babylon that would get killed by the Medo-Persians know God or repent from his sins like Nechabudnezzar did? He had no respect for God, he didn't even understand that the utensils and cups and all the other stuff N. had stolen from Jerusalem were sacred and he should not have poured wine in them to get drunk. Or did that last Babylonian king proclaim anything that sounded even slightly similar to "seating on the throne of God" or "the recesses of the north" at some point? 'Satan' is a title. In the Bible he is never given a proper name (as angels Michael and Gabriel have). Which shows how un-important it is for the evil one to have a name at all. God wrote the Bible and never gave Satan a name. But he is only referred to as prince of darkness, the deceiver etc. etc. Many people think (as this guy said) that "Lucifer" is the name...but like Satan, Lucifer is ALSO a Title. Lucifer is a LATIN word not from the Hebrew. There's a story behind why the Bible transcriber from Hebrew to Latin made that word substitution, but don't know if that's a true story or not.

Isaiah 14:13,14 describing the ascending and falling from heaven are also applicable to the king of Babylon. Because it is another way of describing his great pride and ambition to rule over others. By conquering surrounding nations his throne was exalted high above them, which is figuratively like ascending to heaven. He said 'I will be like the most High', in other words he desired to reign over the other nations like a god'. His downfall is then figuratively falling from heaven.
In verse 12 it calls him Lucifer which means light bearer. The title of light bearer and son of the morning is an applicable description for a king whose brightness or glory shines above other nations. Other translations have 'day star', 'morning star', or 'shining star', which gives the idea that this king was the brightest star among other stars or kings. The Good News Bible reads 'King of Babylon, bright morning star, you have fallen from heaven! In the past you conquered nations, but now you have been thrown to the ground.'

Why would God dedicate so much text to some mortal human king. Lucifer is far more important and relevant to world history and the course of mankind. It would just make sense that the text passage has a double meaning that tells us roughly why Satan is an evil angel, since God cannot possibly create someone inherently evil. Even without the passage we would know that Satan is a powerful, high ranking angel fallen from grace.

Lucifer was another WORD (not name) for the morning star (aka the planet VENUS) until protestants misinterpreted Isaiah 14. Jesus (& GOD for that matter) is and always has been the morning star in a spiritual sense 2 Peter 1:19 & Revelation 22:16 & Jesus even says that his people will shine as the stars so him being their chief would be the brightest Matthew 13:43. Never did Jesus take Satan's place in heaven as the morning star. But the context of JESUS being the morning star is what is missing from most if not all interpretations of Isaiah 14.

But Satan's intent is not to work for or with God. God looks at the intent and motives of the heart . Satan's very nature is adversarial and not cooperative , He told God concerning Job that he would curse Him.
I'm not seeing any inconsistensies in Satan's work in the New Testament from that of the Old Testament. In the New Testament Jesus tells Peter Satan has asked to sift you....and then informs him that He , (Jesus) has prayed for him and he will eventually be strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

If it was Satan it would have said. God condoned all off Job's actions, 'as long as you don't kill him,' and look at the vile things that happened there with God's consent. Study the Bible and you will see how God's chosen people were the Israelites, no others. God then proceeded to anhialate countless, non Israelite humans, to obtain a land that they coveted. Study the history and you will see that when the Israelites separated from Caanan they invented their own God from other previously known beliefs, everybody else had one, why shouldn't they.
Ask yourself... If God created man and man brought the one and only creation story forward then how is that no other neighbouring state or city knew of their God, in fact nowhere in the world did. Why is it that God performed such acts that are concidered inhuman in a civilised society.

Basically I understand that you believe in literal reading of the Bible but there are instances where symbolism and metaphors will indeed need interpretation and the Holy Spirit will be necessary for understanding.
For example Jesus is not a literal lamb nor lion yet there is truth behind these symbols when looking at His attributes. Same can be said of Satan ,the devil that ancient serpent , the deceiver and on and on.
God is love but God is also holy, good doesn't lie EYC. So it maybe more useful to look at God holeistically.
My view on the chosen people is that God has always had a remnant since Abraham foraward who were justified by faith in what was to come and what has occurred ,the promise -the Messiah. God is Spirit and must be worshipped in Spirit and Truth . Man looks at the physical but Jesus preached it is the Holy Spirit that affords us understanding.
It must also be mentioned and Paul discusses this too, we aren't going to know everything . We are looking dimly now . That is where faith comes into play ,following Christ without knowing or understanding it all but understanding enough. Only God has all the answers.
The salvation message has not changed since the days of Jesus preaching to people in His day to people preaching the gospel today. There is only one way to the Father and that is through His Son Jesus and evidenced by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
If you do not have this relationship with God I hope you will in the future.

The Bible never says what Satan’s name was before he rebelled. The Hebrew word in some Bibles is translated “Lucifer” means ‘shining one.’ (Isaiah 14:12) The context shows that this term refers to the dynasty, or line of kings of Babylon which God would humiliate for its arrogance. (Isaiah 14:4,13-20) The expression “shining one” was used to mock the Babylonian dynasty after it was overthrown.
Further, the statement “Down to Sheol you will be brought” (Sheol is the common grave of mankind) shows that this is not a place occupied by Satan the Devil. Moreover, those seeing Lucifer brought into this condition ask: “Is this THE MAN that was agitating the earth?” Clearly, ‘’Lucifer’’ refers to a human, not a spirit creature.

Er is to oppose. Satan is to oppose the light, many Satans, you use this so you don't give them glory by naming them before the Lord, that simple. The one that is "ruler" of this place is Azazel, the scapegoat - what the name means since he was the one who was cast out for the fall of man, considers himself the scapegoat. Many names in mythology that are the same for the fallen one, Apollo is the most broadly used (Helios the Greek equivalent). Don't trust any works with these names as all pagans do like moon missions and earth models. They use that name for a reason, only the vain (vanity/pride) will fall for it/delight in it. Then you don't need to debate with people over it - it's called Apollo's Theater in the Big Apple for a reason where the Broadway is. Our father puts the writing on the wall for those that don't want to dwell in darkness/doubt.

Lucifer is Satan before his fall, his angelic name, stripped from him during his boot from heaven, he became Satan, the serpent, the devil, tho he is referenced too as both names.

GOD created perfect angelic hosts, among them was Lucifer who wanted to be god--who rebelled because he'll bow to the coming human made out of mud/soil.😁
Lucifer was defeated together with his 1/3 fallen angels down here on earth--as penalty, became Satan! 😁
Having realized to have been became opposite of perfection & beauty--defies all GOD and created beings! Hitherto, Satan with his minions are causing havoc, disunity, harm against humanity ever since he caused the fall of Adam and Eve in Paradise: all of whom were cast out "in this valley of tears"!
Bible has it that our battle is against Satan and fallen angels from within and from without (human fallen nature)--but despite, humans are created in the image and likeness of GOD, who are being encouraged by the Lord Jesus Christ "to be perfect just like the Holy Father God! 😁

Do you ever wonder where the dualism theories came from? You know, the ones that say there are two opposite and independent principles in reality, like mind and body, or good and evil. Well, I have a very funny idea about that. Maybe it all started when Adam and Eve found the snake in the Garden of Eden. They were so surprised by this funny and speaking creature that they didn't realize it was not the devil, but just a snake. Maybe the devil entered the snake to tempt them, but there is no scripture to support that. Maybe because we didn't understand it, we decided to create dualism to make sense of it. We thought there must be a good force and a bad force in the world, and the snake was the bad one. But we couldn't find any supporting scriptures that called the snake the fallen angel. Instead, we found references to the red dragon, which is not an angel but close to the snake. And also, Jesus said that the devil never had any truth in him from the beginning, but we said he was holy before his fall. I think it's time to change our mind, don't you? It's funny how a simple misunderstanding can lead to such complex theories. read Isaiah 54:16, Isaiah 45:7 let God be God....

Woww.. I just got to know today about the same point you mentioned that Lucifer was holy before getting the pride in him but Satan was evil from his origin ( by my pastor) Which makes them 2 different entities. This thing was new to me and it makes me confuse as well. I think, I need to research more on this topic.

Lucifer's Pride and Greed started from heaven not on earth.. He tried to organise a Coupe which didn't go well so he was cast down with the 3rd of the other angels..

      more scriptural principles to think.about
We know angels do God's will (Hebrews 1:14). Would a fallen angel if it existed be doing God's will?
We are told Jesus destroyed the devil on the cross by his death (Hebrews 2:14)
If Satan was an angel which sinned is that possible? Angels are immortal but the wages of sin is death we are told. So the immortal Satan must die - a contradiction in terms.
God is almighty. There is no other God. God's power cannot be challenged by anyone, a fallen angel or otherwise. So who God id does not allow for Satan in the mythical sense. Instead we find many instances in the bible of where Satan is an adversary, someone who opposes someone. Even Gid Himself is termed Satan in the numbering of Israel by Satan.

Lucifer is a proper name. Lucifer is the Latin name for Phosphorus, who is a Greek titan, not Satan. This is a mistranslation from the Latin Vulgate that was propagated to the KJV. Phosphorus represented Venus as the morning star while his brother, Hesperos, represented Venus as the evening star.

  • @Jonathan-jo2xu
    @Jonathan-jo2xu Рік тому

Isn't Jesus referred to as the morning Star as well? Revelation 22-16 I believe. Is Jesus in fact Lucifer? He seems to proclaim that in said verse. 16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

Historically, Lucifer and Satan are (2) separate beings. Lucifer AKA "the light bearer", represents ungrounded forms of spirituality that drives humanity away from the purpose of our human existence. Satan, AKA the adversary, on the opposite side of the pole represents extreme materialism, and the worship of our material existence and our chemical bodies over our spiritual nature. The Christ exhibits the perfect balance between these two extremes and ascended to heaven. Yeshua, known to us in the west as simply, Jesus. bless all who lay eyes here.

In the Holy Bible in Luke 10:18 , Jesus says, I saw SATAN fall like lightning from Heaven.
In the Bible Isaiah - 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer son of the morning ! how art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nation!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the side of the north.
I will ascend above the height of the cloud; I will be like the most high.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to Hell , to the side of pit.
In Matthews 4:1-11 At that time Jesus was led by the spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil , He fasted for forty days and forty Night and afterwards was hungry.
The tempter approached and said to him , if you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread,

You are totally wrong on this one! According to revelation 22 16 JESUS clearly stated that he is the ROOT and OFFSPRING OF DAVID and the BRIGHT MORNING STAR! In Isaiah 14 12 MORNING STAR is referred to as LUCIFER the fallen one which means Jesus is Lucifer or the son of the morning! This came from your christian Bible!
