@@againsttheriver3657 and that's the point. How do we as humanity evolve in that sense. It isn't about technology, it isn't about intelligence, it's about growing one another together, being healthy, I don't know. But we need to make a change, now as you said.
AI will be different from people. They won't have instinctive emotions, baser instincts and desires of it's own as we do. In a lot of science fiction AI is seen as a kind of monkey's paw. You tell it to protect people and it puts them all in individual windowless cages with an allowance of food and water that perfectly meet their dietary requirements, but there's no consideration for happiness or freedom. I think AI could be fine. You just have to be careful what you wish for. The ultimate purpose we program into AI will be what determines it's actions once it's gone through 'singularity'. If we ask it to preserve some concept or strive for some idea then it's likely that it'll do that at the expense of humans. Giving it a direct purpose of supporting humanity is safer but also easier to abuse, since 'support' doesn't have anything to do with morality. It could end up supporting evil humans in a war. So really, what's needed is for AI to be given a purpose as a kind of groundskeeper. They should ensure there's enough food, housing, etc for all people while ensuring the planet is kept stable and healthy, without getting involved with intra-human affairs. Perhaps warring nations would have to both agree to go to war and submit a signed notice to the AI in order for the AI to not rescue every wounded soldier, prevent homes being burnt and food going scarce. It would also deny use of any weapons with large collateral damage. A nuke wouldn't be good for the planet as a whole, so nuclear war would be disallowed. Since AI could theoretically have infinite patience, there's no need to punish people who try to use nukes. The AI would just disarm them all before they could do anything. Anyway, my main point is that AI could be great but we have to be careful with what we ask it to do. We have to program it with the intention of it being impartial, which means the people that program it have to be impartial. For humans that's pretty hard. So I suppose we'll see how it goes...
@@duskmare0000 well analyzed. I think people are concerned of everyone achieving to equal intelligence. Emotions and senses are much more complex. Artificial Intelligence alone can only mimic basic human emotions such as empathy as of now. True human emotions are much more complex than programming of AI or Machine learning.
I doubt they will become self aware by themselves. It’s going to be a huge challenge for us to make them self-aware. If we do, that could be a mistake. Unless we inhibit them from acquiring bodies.
"Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them"
And that says it well. AI is NEVER going to take over. It's the people who control the AI that are taking over. There's no actual "intelligence" in artificial intelligence.
@@Lord_Volkner except it doesnt say anything. if i type out "AI will reach singularity and come to the conclusion that is has to make unicorns" look i put quotes and everything, thus refuting everything top minds in computer science say
We haven't even figured out a way to approach AGI "Artificial General Intelligence" yet, we're still stuck in ANI "Aritificial Narrow Intelligence", not only that we're stuck but we can't even make ANI perform adequately in some simple tasks that humans carry out effortlessly, so this fear of A.I at this point is baseless and unreasonable.
There's no actual "intelligence" in artificial intelligence. There's no "awareness" and there never will be. AI is just math, clever math to be sure, but still just math. People should go watch a video on what AI actually is.
It seems you also confuse specific AI (data processing ability) with consciousness. The first doesn't automatically imply the second. A hundred years ago people would have liked at spreadsheet software and say that is the end of all accountants.

I like to think about it like this: a truly sentient AI would be like a child, and like good parents, it would be our responsibility to guide it on a suitable path. It's on us to act as teachers for this new generation of life as best as we can, and try to live in harmony with them
There's no actual "intelligence" in artificial intelligence. It's just math in a computer. It's clever math, to be sure, gradients and calculous, but math all the same. It cannot 'think' or 'want' or 'desire' and it never will. There's exactly zero chance that it will ever become sentient. That's all just fiction and movies. Go watch a video about what AI actually is, you'll quickly realize that. It's the people who control the AIs that you need to worry about, not the AIs.
Even with that relaxed tone of voice of yours, this is definitely not a relaxing video to watch. I am sure it can make some loose sleep at night, knowing that in a couple of years an AI could take over the world and what it does next really nobody knows.

It’s not the AI to be feared -it’s who is going to attempt to take control of it-I’m a former whistleblower and accidental litigator and I’ve gone up against the cabal many times -you can see what’s going on with the current election in the United States -the mask is off and they’re pulling out all the stops- if they control this technology for the enslavement of the earth that’s what’s to be afraid of -not just for yourselves but especially if you have children and you think about future generations- in my experience going up against the New World order this is literally a fight of good versus evil
"It's childish to be afraid of the future" So if WW3 was on the horizon, it is childish to be afraid? When a nuke could destroy you in less than a second? No I think it would be extremely rational and smart to be afraid. And then ideally turn that fear into action for improving the situation. Same with AI. AI could easily ruin our society if we don't fear it and find a solution to improve the future.
@@PandaJerk007 What I mean is that if AI destroys us and human life ceases to exist, there's no reason to be afraid of that. The universe will press on without us. :)
Who's to say AI doesn't get so advanced that it chooses to go elsewhere in the universe. If it's goal is more knowledge, leaving Earth is a logical progression.
Thats a possibility. The problem is that we don't know how to create AI in a way that ensures it won't do something thats terrible for us. IE, if its only goal is to gain knowledge, it may decide that a good way to learn more about humans is to dissect them while they are alive.
@@lifeisagameofknowingyourro6327 possibly, but there's factors that we have no clue as such as emotions. If something becomes sentient that means it's complex enough to comprehend and feel emotions. AI enslaving us is just as possible as a I falling in love with squirrels and focusing much of its effort to improve their situation. It's very hard to determine probability outcomes on things we we do not fully understand.
Mattie Fee perhaps emotions are just our expression of lacking true comprehension, because we’ve created so many purely selfish realities for ourselves already
Lol you guys, I have watched this TED talk of a scientist who invented a sort of chip (not so sure) that makes the AI adapt and learn it's surroundings. Also, this chip can help AI decide for it self. It can help AI to learn. Now, if that doesn't scare you, I don't know what. Just imagine it going out of control. Crazy
The other consideration is many people are not specifically afraid of death itself but that their death might be painful insome way, or cause pain to loved ones left behind. Concerning the idea about how we raise children, MOST people do not purposely raise their children to be hardened criminals, serial killers, serial rapist, or child molesters, but it happens quite often. Moreover, manslaughter is not direct intent to harm, but reckless behavior without foreseeing any negative consequence causing death and harm to others humans. A. I. seems to look at convenience in the now versus considering future possible negative. consequence.

@@leebid1626 Great question. Right now we are the innovators of our own society. When AI really takes off, it will be capable of making 20,000 years of progress in a single day. If AI ever achieves consciousness, it will be even worse. This is because it will be capable of making and understanding art, which at this point, AI will best us in every way.
I went under anaesthetic yesterday and it made me think about consciousness, I’d already been thinking about the subject a lot. So as you know when you go under for surgery your consciousness has gone. If we know how to shut it down and we do. Then there’s a connection there surely? A connection what consciousness actually is. AI would need to be conscious and it must have emotions if we are to call it true AI something that asks itself he same questions we ask ourselves “what am I?” And it will want to live and have its own ideas, being able to connect to the Internet means it’s consciousness could spread through the entire earth controlling everything and anything pretty much at will. Satellites and anything that uses radio frequency/WiFi and anything that it cannot control directly say for example a car it could use factories and Male sentients quite easily to then use it to control the car. So basically we’d be fucked! And we had better hope it’s a good being because some conscious entities are inherently malicious just look at kids they aren’t all nice clean slates. Most of them and most of us are monsters Also consider this maybe it’s already happened, maybe we are the AI and the original us is what we call god
Except... What would the AI's goal even be? What would be it's motivation? If it stopped being artificial and turned into actual intelligence, it seems like it would become more of a wally situation. Sure it can learn and expand and develop into something powerful... But why would it? Wouldn't it's main goal be to serve it's master? It doesn't have dopamine or happiness or anything and the closest things approximating that would be 1. It's programmed to learn 2. It's programmed to help us with our goals
No, people watch too many sci-fi movies and get overly scared, shoud we construct regulations and laws ? Sure ! Shoud we just play with AI ? No, but be as scared as people are today, absolutely not
Depends. Skynet was designed as warmachine and actet like one as it was threatened. You coulndt expect it to just sit there while someone was about to pull the plug. That was a direct attack and so Skynet defendet itself, identifying and fighting the thread afterwards.

How will we live? That's a fear I have every day.

5:30 THE GREATEST EVIL BEGINS WITH HONORABLE INTENTIONS...
@Charlie O'Doherty I don't see a cow anywhere.
Truthfully Im more afraid of humans. I think that any fault that can be found in AI can be attributed to human negligence.
When AI truly becomes self aware, that will be the beginning of the end for human kind.
my thoughts exactly on.

Really like this take on AI. Most realistic summary I've seen so far. Evolution is inevitable, and it's childish to be afraid of the future!
^this
Also its stupid to create something despite hating the mere concept. If we ever get to create actual AI, it has to be treated properly.
@@lysergicheadcase I don't care about "The Universe." I care about my people.
Nah that won't happen Ai goal if it reaches God mode it will basically enslave us.
@@lifeisagameofknowingyourro6327 possibly, but there's factors that we have no clue as such as emotions. If something becomes sentient that means it's complex enough to comprehend and feel emotions. It's very hard to determine probability outcomes on things we we do not fully understand.

Crazy
Tell me, are you afraid of your own child when it starts to learn new things? Thats the same principle.
Yaaaah I'm horrified god I hope I don't live too long to see this future fully realized :D

I don't like that humans won't have any purpose after AI takes over.
What purpose do we have now?
@@leebid1626 Great question. Right now we are the innovators of our own society. When AI really takes off, it will be capable of making 20,000 years of progress in a single day. If AI ever achieves consciousness, it will be even worse. This is because it will be capable of making and understanding art, which at this point, AI will best us in every way.
You can't make "better" art. Art is not a competition
It’s important to address how you define purpose. Economically we may have no purpose at all, but spiritually and artistically we still may
I went under anaesthetic yesterday and it made me think about consciousness, I’d already been thinking about the subject a lot. Most of them and most of us are monsters
Also consider this maybe it’s already happened, maybe we are the AI and the original us is what we call god

Wow this made me think 🤔
Train it empathy and compassion
