I am so glad to hear this critique of the ‘5 stages of grief’ model - so damaging, and useless in helping to recognise and acknowledge what my actual feelings and emotions are. Thank so much for this vlog.
Yvette, it was amazing going back to the research. And clocking the separation between the data collection - and the data analysis!!!!!! The stages of grief were a strategy to codify the emotional movement of a human just informed of a terminal illness. Nothing to do with grief beyond that. And for the human just informed of the terminal illness - they codified the date set incorrectly (!!!). Thank you so much for sharing this time with me. A tough trilogy - that one... txxx
when you mentioned a living person becoming a body, it reminded me one of the best tv episodes in history related to death: buffy the vampire slayer’s “the body” 16x5. I highly recommend it everyone, even if you haven’t a clue about the show. thank you tara for this amazing series, much love ❤
So well said, superstar. The amazing Dr Leanne McRae wrote a chapter of her thesis on the legendary Buffy. Amazing series. Amazing times ;) Biggest hug. txxx
Hi Tara. I found the ten tips in this Post quite revelationary, even though I studied loss and grief many years ago. When I did study this topic, Kubler-Ross was still being discussed even though it was apparent to anyone who gave it some thought it was a flawed concept. Cannot wait for next week's finale. cheers, doug
Thanks mate - it was a big research session for these three. That's why I thought - wow I'd better make it a trilogy. But I was fascinated reading the Kubler-Ross arc in the present literature. There is an acknowledgement of their profound data set. Amazing data sets. But the interpretations on those data sets? A problem. So it is a great way to teaching the importance of data analysis ... (!!!!). All my hopes to you :) txxx
Good on you BB. It takes an entire workforce with care and compassion and respect to help these wonderful humans. Thank you for walking through it with me. txxx
Thank you Tara. Only recently I’ve come to realise that you were right when you said so many things can go wrong in three years. A lot of things have! I will power through this last year. Your vlogs are a gold mine! ❤
