On my Spring 2023 visit to Tokyo, I visited the Ueno Museum of Nature and Science hoping to see the Japanese sealion, among other things. The person I needed to ask was out for the day. Again, I went back to Tokyo in October 2023 hoping to see the sealion. But there was a film crew shooting at the time and using the museum and we were turned away. 😮💨Hopefully on future visits, I will get to see it. But got to see the extinct Japanese wolf, Hachiko and other species native to Japan, albeit stuffed.
Japanese people had hunted Sea Lions(Gangchi) illegally in Dokdo. Japanese Empire took over the rights of Korea and according to 《韓日議定書》, stealing Dokdo to fight against Russia. Now, they're using their character to decorate Dokdo as their own territory. If Sea Lions were their friends, the whales are their best friends.
