Hey this was a New York State Department of Transportation planning, design and construction project that was part of the K-Bridge. I was the Landscape Architect Design Supervisor for NYSDOT. The open space was designed to be a multi functional space with a Skate Park component, with the understanding that it could grow and expand with time. There are two new playgrounds being designed one on The Brooklyn side and one on the Queens side. Wait for the new Skate Park on the Queens side it will be sick. And you could skate over the K-Bridge to access either side to enjoy the Manhattan view while crossing over. Enjoy!!!! The spaces that I have envisioned tend to have a life of their own, after they have been given birth they mature and take on a life of their own as part of the community!!
sick video George, i really like the way you edit and put everything together. i have actually been to this "fake skatepark" and i also had a blast skating it.
Hilariously there is a "real" skatepark about two blocks from this and it's always empty. But this "fake" skatepark is starting to get packed with people.
Thanks for helping me get through an injury george I got hit by a car in November and am still out, and watching your videos helps get the skate vibe without skating
This is going on my list of Parks to check out once it gets warmer... NY could definitely use more parks like this. I wish they'd put some money into my home park Forest Park Skatepark to make it more like this.
l love your videos so much. been watching since it first year of college (which was your last). l started skating at around the time your "Senior Year" episodes started. I've progressed so much now and l appreciate you for being apart of my skate journey

That spot looks awesome! I'm sure you've heard of Zach Dowdy, that dude makes DIY spots. If you haven't heard of him check out his videos, that dude works really hard on skate spots. Unfortunately the spots get destroyed from time to time. I agree with the feeling of skateboarding at a park vs street skating in the city, totally different feeling. Thanks for all your work and the rad videos you put out
Seriously it's ahhhhhmazing now ...was my favorite local already cuz of the sunrise/sunsets and space for days...but now ...now it's pure slice of heaven.... I hit it up in mornings before work like 3-4 times a week....it's even better now then in your video since they moved the blue Park ramps and Obstacles there, its like better then most parks in the area...but not sure if they are still there?? ....haven't been there in a week cuz I was away
Sick spot, that kickflip up the euro was actually pretty crazy. Hopefully it sticks around for a while. I don’t mind skating in public, I actually like it when people hang around and watch, but what I don’t like is feeling walled off and being stared at like I’m in a zoo.
Depends what you mean by negative. I am totally fine with differing opinions and mature conversations stemming from disagreement. But I have a 0 tolerance policy for comments that are purely based in hate (judging based on appearances, bullying, homophobia, just trying to make someone angry, etc)
