Red Velvet Cake Recipe
Philly Boi Red Velvet Cake Is my favorite cake 9/15/24
Thanks for a great recipe! I made this yesterday (my first time baking any kind of cake)and it turned out fantastic. Shared it with some friends who are saying that I need to open a bakery but of course I gave your video all of the credit. I never comment on any videos but my wife insisted that I let you know that we appreciate your videos. Keep up the good work!
+alejandrino pacheco thank u much sir
+alejandrino pacheco Hell No! ....I make it I'm taking the credit for it! Phillyboy is MY Secret Weapon! I'll never let my friends know! NEVER! ...LMAO
It’s 2019, I’m 27 and I been using your exact recipe for the first time last year 2018 thanksgiving. Guess who using this exact recipe again for Thanksgiving. 😚 You taught me something, folks think I’m old school fr, cooking like a 🧑🏾🍳. 🤫👌🏾My family loves it. Thanks so much. 🤗
Thank you for your red velvet recipe. I tried it today & it is delicious. I reduce the amount of sugar & it still came out so moist & just delicious.
I followed this recipe and it turned out great. My mother absolutely loved it. Thanks so much.
Literally have used this recipe 6 times and I'm using it right now for my job party wr are having tomorrow 😁😁
My favorite cake along with carrot cake. Love this recipe a lot of people forget the vinegar. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the recipe it was very easy I actually did it yesterday this was my first homemade cake it was moist and it turned out real good for the first time. me and the kids loved it keep up the great work thanks again.
Such a beatuiful cake young man. I'm going to make this for my next church dinner. Your butter cream frosting made me want to bite this note book. lol
Thanks for the recipe.
Wow, your cake turned out really good and I bet it was delicious...never thought about the half oil half butter combo.
Philly boy can you move to Florida and live next door to me please? Love ur cooking don't pay attention to keypads bullies with no life.
If you don't want the yolk to break when separating eggs, separate them when they are cold and then allow them to come to room temperature. I do find this recipe unique in regards to the recipe staging. Looks good :)
#1 in cooking and baking hands down,!
Delicious-looking I'm going to try this recipe thank you
Looks yummy. The only thing I do different with mine is i don't add cocoa or vinegar. I like a bright red cake.
The cocoa is used for taste not color. At least that's what I was always told.
In Alaska going to make this for my Dad’s birthday today.
I BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!!!🧐 ILOVEYOU 😍😍😍😍😍U R THE BEST!!
About to use this recipe again today 😁😁😁
I'll take a big slice please . Absolutely yummy.
I'm thinking maybe a blender would have blended the cake better cause I noticed their were unincorporated flour in the batter.
He has a mixer he used for the frosting. It's great to see a man in the kitchen and you can actually mix up a cake without a mixer?? Good to know!
Looks good, where are you and more of those videos?
Still thinking of you my love! Hope you're doing great!!
He can cook anything
I want to try to make this, it looks so good
PhillyBoy --- youz uh baddazz bro - keep it coming !!!
Love this! Your videos are the bomb!
great recipe brotha
red relvet. oiyu.
this recipe is the bomb!
Looks so good & dangerous.....Mmmm
Nice bruh! for the second coating, where do u keep the rest of the frosting? out or in the fridge aswell? just want to make sure.
+Damion Sellers i put it in the fridge
mmmhmmm... yep...
Did you use regular flour to coat the cake pan or cake flour?
I was so hoping you would do a traditional Red Velvet with pickled beets.
Man that sounds gross. Old ways are usually gross like actual meat in mince meat pie. Or lard in pudding. 😷
+Hazel !😂😂😂😂 right
Actually I make MINES with BEETS TRIED AND TRUE DELICIOUS
Nobody does that…..
@@Yahshuaismyeverything yes, they do
Dam ese homie get down in the kitchen ! My gf gonna love this !
Lmao
I wanna know do you dry ice ship?.
Pretty
Who taught you how to separate eggs? Serveal much easier and simpler ways.
+Dillon Miller its not important.... they dont have to be perfect
+PhillyBoyJayCooKiNgShow RIGHT EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN WAY OF DOING THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!
+PhillyBoyJayCooKiNgShow Your make Amazing Videos.
That cake is going to taste just like a chocolate cake. I'm from the south and make red velvet cake all the time. A real red velvet cake doesn't need all that cocoa powder 😒😒
What's your recipe?
I only put 1 tsp of cocoa, 1 tsp vinger and 1 bottle of red food coloring.
Then it will taste like food coloring metallic I know some people put beet juice
@@nataliarouselle6351 ew
@@cvd5656 that’s too much food coloring tho
Where are the pecans ??
Is there a difference between baking soda and baking powder!? :\
Its a chemical difference. Baking soda=base
Baking powder= base/acid
DjDellsky
Aight ...thanks :)
You are super baddd!
❤️👍🏻
so why do you use vinegar???
good question i was thrown at that part too
The vinegar and buttermilk give the cake a little bit of a tang wich makes this cake so different tasting. If you don't add it then it's just a chocolate cake with red food coloring lol.
baking soda and vinegar also help it rise
I just want you to know you’ve taught me how to cook since 2017! I love all your recipes! My boyfriend that passed away recently due to gun violence loved your meatloaf recipe! He would of loved this cake for thanksgiving 😢❤️ God bless you!
uyy
looks great you know most people don't realize red velvet cake is chocolate cake with red food coloring
+Jessica Dailey actually real red velvet has no red food coloring. It is made using pickled beets.
Lynn Crum Pickled beets? Go to bed, Lynn. Lol. 😀
+Lynn Crum It doesn't make a difference.... that is so not important. Good food is good food, people get too caught up in doing things traditionally when it doesn't even make a difference
She's actually correct , the real one is made with pickled beets !
Jai Courvoisier Yes, pickled beets. My grandmother made them her entire life. Without the beets it is just chocolate cake with food coloring. Still delicious, but taste totally different.
This recipe channel is the besttttt, everything I’ve tried to make from here doesn’t disappoint 👌🏽
Made it today & it came out perfect 👌🏾 Thanks for the recipe, my family loved it
I always come here first for any recipe💯
good looking cake. nice touch with the crumbled cake on the outside
I made this for my Boyfriends birthday and he was in love with it 😍😍😍😍 i put the cake in the fridge for like an hour and ate it like that and it was amazing
I made a cake from this recipe a couple days ago and liked the outcome so much I'm actually making another now! Thank you for this awesome video
My cake tasted soapy. Am i supposed to activate the baking soda in hot water before adding it in or something ? I used 1 tablespoon lemon juice in milk for buttermilk btw.
@@hallelujah1236 no the baking soda goes right in with the dry ingredients, and I honestly would use buttermilk instead
@@MsTilly hmm alright.
I thought if you used cake flour (Swann's,etc) that you are not supposed to use baking powder or baking soda because it is already in the flour. Do I still use it anyway???
chaskeitt I have the same question
Cake flour still needs the addition of a leavener such as baking powder and or baking soda to help the cake rise.🙂
I just found you while searching how to make a philly cheese steak sandwich, found you and now I can't get enough of your cooking videos. I've seen cooking videos but you are the most easiest person to follow while cooking and the food is always coming out great. hope you have a lot of subscribers and great life
Jay, I know ur family and friends love u!
first of all I don't care. .I was talking about it being chocolate that's it. ..this man knows what he is doing ...
????
I used this recipe for the second time today. The first time I baked it a little too long but it was still really good. Today it came out really really good! My husband loves it. lol Thanks for the recipe!

Hi Jay...greetings from Georgia! I love watching your videos...everything you cook looks so scrumptious! This red velvet cake looks so moist, and I love how you decorated it with cake crumbs! I'll be making this for my dad for Valentine's Day. Hope all is well in your world. Wishing you a Merry Christmas 🎄 and a healthy and happy New Year.

Omg he is gifted! I have been watching his videos. I hope he makes more, may God bless and keep him.
Are you using real butter or margarine? It looks like margarine.
It’s butter
that looks awesome..\ Thanks for sharing
Y’all are way too nice to him in these comments on this video.. 😂😂😂. I’m sorry but… Anyways I will say check out his greens video cause that’s how I make mines and they are great!!
I like the crumb decoration idea
Red Velvet Cake With Cooked Frosting Cooked Frosting:
1 cup milk (or cream)
1/3 cup flour (all-purpose)
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar (granulated; superfine is ideal)
1 teaspoon vanilla Cooked Frosting
In a saucepan, whisk together the 1/3 cup flour and milk and cook, stirring, until thickened; cool in the refrigerator. Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla with mixer. Add flour and milk mixture a little at a time (make ahead of cake so that it has plenty of time to cool). Beat well for several minutes or until the mixture is not grainy, adding milk (or cream) as needed. Frost layers, sides, and top of the cake.
Marian Clanton I make the flour milk icing
looks amazing thank you for sharing. I'm now inspired to make a homemade cake
that look so good lol … thanks for the recipe i can't wait to try it
great recipe , I tried it and it was so soft and moist , I will never use a mixer for a red velvet cake again....I used walnuts with my icing yummy yummy!
red velvet and pound cake is my favorite! yum
Used this recipe today and everything came out perfect. The texture of the cake was firm to easily ice it but soft and moist to eat. It was delicious!
Thank you for this lovely recipe making it for my girlfriends graduation party!
I wish you'd start using butter.. not the fake shit margarine. It way healthier
For no color version could I use beet juice?
I just had a taste for a red velvet cake and don't know anyone in DE who can make it. I'm an Alabama girl so I should know how to cook real good but ummmm....anyway I'm gonna use this recipe tomorrow 🤪
I make all your foods they are the best I mean the best I'm making this next
I really enjoy watching your video. would love to see more.
Making this today. Hoping for the best 🤞🏾

Nice bruh! for the second coating, where do u keep the rest of the frosting? out or in the fridge aswell? just want to make sure.
+Damion Sellers in the fridge
Philly Boy Jay, you are an AMAZING home chef!!! I've try many of your recipes and it was absolutely delicious thank you for all of your great, great videos.👍👍
I've never seen a cake look so moist. And, your technique, I have to try. No mixer. Very easy frosting.. Thank you for sharing.. I noticed three slices.. I know, one was mines. Please and thank you.. I bet I made you smile. Peace.. Oh yeah..I forgot to tell you. I'm definitely Subscribing
this cake is cute
I think it is best to use butter than margarine, your cream cheese icing was too loose, didn't beat it enough. You can also use parchment paper for the bottom, cake will turn out smoother no crumbs. I have seen so many red velvet cake recipes on youtube, what is the purpose of the vinegar? everyone uses apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, I thought the cake would rise with the baker powder and baking soda.
Omg !!! can I marry you we can put your food and my mexican food together 💕💕💕 I'm jk but I love your food
Ok hey Philly boy I need to know what kind of cake flour are you guys are using in also where can I find it. In also icing sugar is that the same as powder sugar I'm a first time baker...
My hubbys birthday is coming up, he loves red velvet cake... I will be making this cake. ❤
I'm going use you recipe for this cake on Xmas!! You make everything look so easy, thanks for sharing.
Lord, where are the pecans? 😂
heyyyy!!!! no pecans?
Nope i don't eat them lol
I love to cook. This is my passion
