Can't Stop the Signal!
I got goosebumps when the sensors indicated that the friendly dropship was inbound
The only thing missing now is the remastered game itself.
PGI was unable to work out agreements... is what i heard....
At least it would have been nice if you could still buy the game digitally and it would run on modern Windows versions.
@@TECC73 If only sites like GOG would make it available, would've sold quite well with the older gamers who enjoyed it.
@@TECC73 you can, its free
no one to play with though

I played the MW2 back in the day on a DX2 66Mhz machine that I had to upgrade from 4 to 8Mb RAM. (because of the game, Dark Forces). This was the first game I purchased for the PC. I still have the original DOS CD Rom laying around somewhere. And have over time, pulled it out to replay on portable Discman of the era.
Forward over a decade, and I was chatting with the Community Manager of Hellgate London. We both agreed that MW2 was then best ever composed music for a video game. A sentiment that I would still champion today.
All Systems Nominal.
This game was the reason why I spent a year's worth of paper route delivery income to buy a computer for $1800.
Hearing the mech's computer voice after 20 years takes me back. Such a good game
I miss that voice.
I've heard the same voice is in MWO.
MW2 Betty is best Betty!
Mechwarrior 2 had an amazing vibe that hasn't been matched by any mech game since
This music combined with the flat shaded graphics, often thick world fog and the eerie sound design really made you feel like you were utterly alone on a hostile alien world
Your mech was your only friend and also the only thing keeping you alive, the planet and everyone on it wanted you dead
I know a lot of it was unintentional and due to hardware limitations (thick fog to reduce render distance, the lack of allies and smaller numbers of enemies to spare the CPUs of the primitive computers it was designed to run on) but it still made for a phenomenal game
So true.
The simple and barren landscapes added to the eeriness of the worlds you fought on.
Though I never read any of the books, I did enjoy the text before the missions that added political context for the fight I was about to engage in.
The soundtrack though, is what has stuck with me for 20ish years. One of my favorites of all time.
...and it all begins with my favorite.
Timber Wolf.
Perfection.
My computer staggered a lot and I always got "T T T Timberwolf"....haha.
Mechwarrior (the intro song) is an absolute masterpiece of its namesake. The feeling of being the unstoppable rolling thunder of a 100 tons of vengeance and retribution.
That one is my favorite too...which is why it is the outro for so many of my videos! :)
Those falcons at the start of Jade Falcon... perfect.
This music: All the chemistry of nostalgia with new inspiring sounds.
Special thanks to Timothy Seals for not only composing this wonderful album, but allowing Renegade HPG to host it here for all to enjoy. Thanks to Jayden Morris for his incredible homage to the original cover art. And finally, thanks to channel sponsor Fortress Miniatures and Games and to all the Patrons whose financial support helps me develop crazy fun projects like this. Without that support I wouldn't be able to set aside the time needed to produce this channel. You guys are awesome! Links to all below:

I still listen to the original MW2 soundtrack all the time. These remasters sound amazing! We should have a remastered MW2 game made to go with this soundtrack. ;)
There's a fanmade hi-res remaster, haven't played it but it sounds amazing... Lots of extra Mechs, bug fixes, lore fixes
MW2 was my introduction to Battletech. Still remember unwrapping it at Christmas and just staring at the cover in complete awe. I wore out the disc just playing the music.
So glad I found this right now
I didn't think it was possible to top the original soundtrack... This is amazing, great job! Sounds awesome in my mustang with the mach460 sound system and an added subwoofer
Playing any mechwarrior\battle tech game with this playing makes it 1000% more fun
I have the 95 bitchin betty and this on my mechwarrio online.... its good
this is what I do playing mw5
How is it that BattleTech is just becoming more awesome after all these decades?
There's a lot of ways in! There's the Tabletop games, the video games, books, the old cartoon, a sites like this can let the music stand as art on its own merits, as well as being a great soundtrack to a future-war
Rich Lore and Welcoming Fanbase
I think Harmony Gold is starting to lose its power over this time. They were one of the greatest culprits behind the games and shows being canceled.
Because it is a fine wine that ages well...
The very concept of big stompy tanks in space never gets old.
What a brilliant project. My original MW2 disc has probably spent more time in an audio-only CD player than in my CD drive in any of my PCs. Love the score for this game so much. Absolutely wonderful remix album!
The music from the more recent games is fine, but for my money, this is what the 31st Century should always sound like.
So much this! MW5's music was just generic butt rock. This though? It's got EMOTION. It's telling a story. So good when it came out, and it still resonates.
@@coldwave007 Kinda hard for MW5's music to tell a story when there isn't one to tell in the first place. Not one that has any emotion or weight behind it anyway.
You should really try the MW2 music medley mod for MW5. It’s incredible how this music and other OG Mechwarrior music adds such mood and depth to the game
@@hattedsandwich2415 I'm already modding practically everything else, so I might as well check it out.
For me, I've always associated this type of music with the clans, and the heavy metal with the inner sphere. The clans are refined, mysterious, and ominous. The inner sphere are rough and tumble, but they got spirit haha.
08. Bred for War makes me feel like I’m in a Shadow Cat running at full speed across a canyon.
I can even mentally see the legs.
MW2 still has the best soundtrack of the entire Mechwarrior series.
this ost is chef kiss
I loved this game so much when it came out. Timothy absolutely nailed the music for this wonderful universe. This game came out around the time Virtual World was a big thing in my circle and I have such fond memories of it.
Listening to this in the background while playing a few idle games and browsing the internets, all of a sudden Silent Thunder hits and I get the biggest grin. Nostalgia is beautiful sometimes.
I run campaigns and events of Classic Battletech for my local community at the friendly gaming store. We run massive, multiplayer battles, on the regular. Each and every single one, we do with this soundtrack playing at the table. Nothing puts you in the mood for gaming like hearing that all your systems are nominal, in this way.
I hope the creator sees this. Thank you, this soundtrack got me through my 3rd child's newborn stage while studying full-time and working.
We're on the same laser boat here, fellow mechwarrior.
"Yes, let's have another kid despite me not having the time to care for it", said no sane person ever.
@@onomatopoeia7505 you underestimate the power of sacrifice. A single cursed timber wolf hold the line enough for the jade falcon guard to flee tukayyid. That is to say, if you're willing to sacrifice your sleep time or leisure time you can do such great things such as raise a great family and still be a productive adult person.
43:33 gave me such goosebumps, the nostalgia man....
I loved being able to put the MW2 CD in my stereo and just listen to the soundtrack. Yes. That's how old game soundtracks worked.
Even after a year, I still use this as my go to for painting the minis. Really gets you in the mood
I can’t give this enough thumbs up. The nostalgia hit is so strong. Huge MW/Battletech fan ever since MW2. Now playing MW5 I turn off that music and set this going. Soooo much better dropping in with this going in the cockpit. My Thanks for putting these together.
I loved this and the Mech Commander series! Timeless gameplay even at 36 I just tried Merceneries after 20 years, we've come a long long way!!!
Damn this soundtrack is hype! I want to play this game again XD
that Iron Piston cover goes so hard.
my favorite thing to do was to load a MadCat out with nothing but lasers and a bunch of heat sinks. It was so fun to get critical hits in the first shot and immediately over heat.
as a die-hard Warhammer 40,000 fan...
Damn battletech, y'all got it good. And I'm stoked to see you on the rise.
(Plus, unknowingly, BT was my first meganerd scifi setting at a tender young age of
My introduction to Battletech came from the old dos game called Battletech: Crescent Hawks Revenge. I loved that game and wish I could still play it. It came in a box that had a mech identification guide which I was always reading through. And it also came with a poster of all the mechs in the game, which I hung on my wall. It got me into the table top. My first miniature was the Stalker. Over time I had like a hundred different miniatures of both clan and inner sphere units, including vehicles, infantry, battle armor, and aerospace. Oh, and I of course got Mechwarrior 2, 3 and 4 and Mechcommander and Mechcommander 2.
I played that game so much. Made me hate Rommel and Patton tanks! :)
@@RenegadeHPG lol, me too! I wish they would do an upgraded version of that game
That intro.
Mech Commander 2 vibes
That cover art is genuinely awesome. Like, this might be my single favorite piece of BT artwork and ive been a BT dork for a long damn time.
Really appreciate that! A lot of time and thought went into the design and creation of this. Jayden did a magnificent job bringing my vision for it together to create the perfect homage.
Gotterdammerung is an absolute masterpiece. The soundtrack of my life.
This is pretty much the music I listen to today - ambient techno & dark synth. I haven't heard this OST in at least 20 years, but it makes sense why I listen to this kind of music every day.
Man, we really need another Clan game.
@Пыль глотаю This is probably the best idea I have ever heard for a story-driven Mechwarrior game. See certain what-ifs of Turkayyid, like what if the Clans swallowed their pride for once and made certain decisions that could've led to their victory?
I'm so tired of being a bloody mercenary. I want to play for the clans.
I hope you’re enjoying the news
@user-lk7cv8vg7r The closest thing to that idea I could think of is High Moon Studios' Transformers Cybertron Games.
it's happening!
Absolutely lovely treatment of the original music. Waiting for a MW2 remaster now!
Speak of the devil, I've been listening to Mech 2's ost and this just so happened to pop up in my recommendations
Same, haha
I was like "yeah this is pretty good", then I heard the Arkham Bridge theme. Excellent.
the Invasion starts 2024❤
Oddly relaxing to listen to while doing homework. Also relaxing to listen to while grinding an Atlas apart.
a perfect album, and homage to one of the greatest PC game soundtracks of all time. Timothy Seals knocks it out of the park yet again.
UA-cam just put this in my recommended, probably because I've listened to MW2's ost about 50 times. Good recommend, I'm 2 minutes in and already have goosebumps.
Doing some 3D modeling of my own 'mech designs. Awesome way to keep me focused on the way a mech should look.
Yeah I put this on when I work on em in Blender. What program do you use?
@@joeszymanski3540 I use Sketchup, myself. I'm in architecture so that's one of the programs I learned. Mech design is a side-hobby. Haven't had any experience with Blender, though.
This takes me back! 😂 I can picture myself sitting in front of my pc, urging the windows 98 logo to bugger off so I can boot up mechwarrior. 🤩
Thank you for the support of Battletech!!! Creating a great one stop shop for all our MechWarrior needs. Well done sir
OMG @2:32 I cry every time so epic and heroic and sad
Yes! The second half of MechWarrior (Track 1) is my favorite, with the drop from Götterdämmerung close behind ua-cam.com/video/f7rDOBLTj8M/v-deo.html
oh, this brings back memories ...
This is so faithful to the originals yet so fresh at the same time, stunning!
Bread for war.
Incredible! Didn't even know this edition existed, but this soundtrack is awesome.
Beautiful music. Lovely cover. Even though the music is new, I can hear the threads of the original Mechwarrior weaving through the beats. Amazing.
My favorite clan mech is the Nova. I like to swap out the 12 medium lasers for 6 medium pulse lasers. I reduce some of the heat sinks and add in a targeting computer. They give me a -3 to hit roll every time and heat is not an issue.
ohhhhh so goood! Wow, I haven't heard these motifs in decades! and holy cow it's putting me right back into the cockpit
9:00 hunter killer moment
Beautiful
I loved the original A New Damn album, and I love this even more. Thank you for hosting it, and to Timothy Seals for creating it!
Man... Pyre Light takes me back...
This playlist Slaps!
Harlot of the skies here, miss ya Tex. Get back in Living Legends soon!
The hawk screams really make the Jade Falcon piece. Sad to see that many other replays of the song don't have them.
This remix doesn't lose any of that feeling of liminal space the game and soundtrack had, which is surprising given just how much the soundscape has been filled out. I don't know if it's just me, but that disorienting, spaced-out buzz of alienation mixed with odd familiarity seemed essential in the portrayal of the clash between the Clans and Inner Sphere, so it's great that it wasn't lost in the mix. Great work by Mr Seals.
The original soundtrack is still in my regular rotation after all these years. Well done on this one. While it's impossible to improve on an original which is already perfect, Timothy Seals has a good attempt and reaches 99.99% of the way there. One one hand, the original is still better. On the other hand, probably nobody will make a better Mech2 cover album than this. Maybe the only person who could is Mick Gordon (a spicy comment to be sure).
19:45 Hit me in the nostalgia
It definitely badass-ifies what was already my favorite track on the original soundtrack.
Absolutely fantastic. Even without the nostalgia
Phenomenal.
This music really helps me to focus when working.
The Pyre Light cover is just perfect
Mech 2 + Expansions were and still are the best Mechwarrior games. The PoL version from Pirahna is a great sim. But all that promise of the story never happened with the invasion of the clans. It was just like, ok the clans are here now you need to fight them.
What I would give for another game that newly incorporated co-op missions. I could play with my old man again before he eventually dies.
This will be played extensively as I paint my Ghost Bear Theta Galaxy TT unit this weekend. So very impressed with this. The nostalgia is real.
Proper 80's vibes, done so well!
Timothy Seals is a real inspiration, I hope to see more and more original work out of him in the future whether it Battletech or not inspired. I just have a sweet spot for the BT stuff.
This was excellent!
Now do Mech 2: mercs please :)
If this doesnt get the hair on your arms to stand up, I dont know what will.....
Somehow these are frequently on my listening queue... So soothing and inspiring at the same time.
When the Timberwolf mod comes for Mech 5, this will be compulsory
You mean MadCat right since you, well your kind lost and everything.

Fantastic covers to an underrated game soundtrack. Just bought the album, great work!
Incredible work.! Thank you for this
Work of art.
01:00:30 the build-up in this cover is superb, it really enhances the original song
These are awesome. Got excited that someone remastered the game!!
Thanks so much for posting this. What a great soundtrack, glad I got to experience it when it was new, and so glad to be revisiting it like never before as an adult.
This is just amazing!
Most of these are super atmospheric, especially Inner Sphere. Sets the tone so well. Thanks very much for sharing 😊
Heat level critical!
This album is incredibly awesome! Truly a masterpiece!
Wow, I love this game, thank you so much !

this captures the mechwarrior vibe perfectly. subscribed and favourited!
I love how this cover has the Summoner on it.
To me, the Timber Wolf's direct opposite. :D
There are a lot of little details in that image... :)
Awesome MW2 Sound. Played it in my childhood.
36:00 reminds me in my construction work days on a building site 😊
This is amazing!
Dude this is unreal. Such a nostalgic trip again but all of the music is just a little bit better than the originals, I still listen to this, ghost bears legacy and mercenaries a bit.
If I could play a game for the first time again. Mechwarrior 2: 31st century combat and then mercs.
Fantastic, new favorite tracks for battletech hobby time.
Timothy, you are a legend.
Inner Sphere is god tier
This is beyond amazing!!!!! 🥰🐺🥰
Rolling Storm and Bear Renegade both sound like they belong in an Ace Combat epic mission... 😅
