Thank you sir. I just did this and it took about 30 minutes for me to get the files. Although, they used the DD214 that showed my TDRL date and not an updated one with my full medical retirement date. Also, they had like 40 extra pages from my service record. Like the article 86 I got in 2010. Brought back so many memories. Good info. Well done!
@@jeanp.5929 Awesome!!!! I’m glad it helped….a little, lol. When did you have your DD214 updated? And allllll the extra files, that sounds about right. We have to remember it’s a Government website, it will always be messed up. 🤣😂
@@VeteranEducationNetwork That's the thing, I thought it would be updated to reflect my full retirement date which happened way back in 2013. I have yet to get an updated copy or know how to even get one. It's probably updated at DEERS cuz they sent me both the TDRL and full retirement certificate.
@@jeanp.5929 I’m not ignoring you, I will give you the information you need to have it updated by tomorrow. Side note….you need to understand that the VA and active duty components do not speak to each other (except when the VA uses DEERs to verify you). Meaning that when you moved from TDRL to Medically Retired, you need to reach out to the Active Duty component that will make the changes. The VA doesn’t do this. I got you, give me till tomorrow. 💯
@@VeteranEducationNetwork Oh sweet! I really need a copy 4 of my DD214 and the national archives say they don't have it. Do you know any other way to get that Copy 4 of the DD214? I only get my copy 2 of the DD214
@@Jupiter753BCE May I ask what you're trying to do with the Member 4 copy? It's a question I ask because anything we need can all be sufficed by out Member 2 Form. Or a generated letter from VA.gov. @@VeteranEducationNetwork I just wrote a letter to Fort Knox where the human resources for the Army is. I will let you know what they tell me. I was told that the National Archives holds the documents but they are not the LEGAL OWNER of the documents. For the Army the legal owner of the docs are the Human Resource dept at Fort Knox.
Hey Brother!!! That is correct, it's only useful right now if your ETS was after 1992 when they started the digital files/age. BUT, I heard from a Marine recently that he went to the Archives in person and was able to grab his files from them. He said it took all day and it was worth it. I had no idea and I've asked a few people and they didn't know either.
@@VeteranEducationNetwork Thanks for the reply! I have a request in with NPRC, will see if they have anything. Not sure why the DD-215's are not on file. I got promoted after I retired (1998) and received 2 awards as well. I have the originals, so not a big issue. I'll be setting up my burial benefits with the nearby national cemetery. Hopefully, they do not require originals. Thanks again!
@@owen33333 Yeah that is strange, you should be in the system. Reach out to your personal command where you ETS'd, they should have it on file still.
