Nice review! I just bought one for some winter fun. Storm kettles are so efficient that I thought this would be a wonderful addition to my emergency, (sometimes just fun) kit.❤
Chris, you are my favourite camp/cook/bushcraft person on UA-cam. Your honesty and enthusiasm are what make your videos. I, for one, hope you never change the way you do things. Don't let the keyboard warriors get to you!
G'day Chris, I've had it in my head to get one of these units for some time now, so thanks for the gear review update. So often the long term use updates are not as forthcoming. But what I really wanted to say was - You can wrap some haters up in fairy floss and spoon-feed them liquid chocolate and it won't make any difference to the way they behave online. And trying to oblige them will just drive you crazy. Sometimes you just have to let the water run off the duck's back. Cheers mate.
Great comment thanks. I used to think about videos and thenk what do people wnat, then I realise everyone is different so I should just do what I like doing. it's hard at times but also fun made more worthwhile with great feedback like this. The EcoZoom is something that if it breaks i would defo get another. I love it, always a great cook on it, cheers for that.
I just bought this kind of rocket stove from Germany. It is really good. And I am glad I have the air regulation box under the fire department, not all stoves have it. Nice to hear it will last for years.
I’ve had one for over a decade. I bought one to take to a winter camping event in February. It worked great and I’ve kept and used it many times since then. Other ones are a ripoff of this original design. Support the stove inventors not Chinese copycats. 👍 With one of these and some cast iron cookware, you’ll be cooking well at the end of the world.
He there, spot on, I use a bit of cast iron with this and it's great. No looking back for me with this. If it got damaged I would just replace with the same brand. Wish I had the double one! Sorry for delay and cheers for watching, much appreciated, Chris
First video I have watched of yours. Don't worry about the haters. I have had an eco zoom like you show for 10 years just in case for food prep. I guess it was a novelty purchase just because. Hardly used but just dragged it out to mess around. Between stocking wood from the property and charcoal on sale from the store I could cook all meals necessary for well over a year with the fuel I keep. With stored freeze dried rations it gets even more efficient as you only need some heat to boil water to hydrate a meal. By that point you will need preps to protect your supplies from others who wish they prepared as well and are desperate because they didn't...... cheers!
Thanks very much, for me it's been well worth it, the more I used it the more it paid for itself, by not using electricity etc. Great to cook on. Appreciate the view, Cheers Chris
I am one that really enjoy your presentations. I like your natural everyday presentations,. I also have an EcoRocket Zoom., I agree, they are super. Forget the negatives, obviously you enjoy what you are doing which I find refreshing. Thanks.
Thanks very much, great to hear you've got a stove too. All good, the negatives i get used to ha ha, thanks for the support, the view and the comment, much appreciated, cheers Chris
Hi Chris, I'm going to send some positivity your way to help counteract some of the negativity. I came across your videos while doing research on rocket stoves and have bought one of these thanks to your review. I'm getting into distilling liquids and I wanted a heat source where the fuel was as inexpensive as possible, so this is just what I'm looking for. Also, I could listen to your Scottish/Kiwi accent all day.
Ha ha thanks man, I've received that positivity and it's working😁😁. that is actually super interesting that you bought one for distilling purposes, actually quite amazing, shows how versatile it is then. I had fun with that review and that quite a few years old now, cheers for your view and comment, Chris
I have watched 3 of your rocket stove reviews in the last half hr or so. Good job. I bought one a few yrs back after watching these videos. I have not used it, just bought it for when everything breaks, which is going to be soon here in the U.S.A. It looks like it will do just what i need it to do. Thanks for your time to share.
9/11/24 was the day for me. Power has been out since. I used mine first time today. For a test my eggs were great. Ideally using a pressure cooker would be great. It's solid it's able to hold your stovetop pots easily.
@@GEAUXFRUGAL Thanks for sharing your experience. I take it you were in the path of Helene for your power to be out that long. I have been praying for all you people that lost much, some everything they had and some their lives. I cook my eggs most of the time in my instant pot. I like mine a little on the soft side. I put it on low pressure for 3 minutes and then either let the pressure off manually or let the pressure go down on its own. The sooner the pressure is let off the softer the eggs are. I do cook them in the shell.

What’s a win with the Ecozoom is the insulation on the side walls, which means that you’re not burning your legs if you’re sat up close to it. If you were using charcoal/ briquettes then the heat retention in the chamber certainly helps to get it glowing red hot in less time. If it works, it works😎👍.
Thanks Billy, it works really well, Udo at Boats and Canoes used Briquettes once and it seemed to work really well, I tried, I think it was alrihgt but all down to practice and experience, when it breaks finally i will buy another, but treat it better😂😂😎😎
Thanks Nige, rain has stopped for now ha, but it's Scotland so no doubt more soon, I enjoy the cooking and the fact that there's people like yourself that enjoy it too, thanks for watching, cheers Chris
Cool vid thanks Chris. I wanted an Ecozoom but could not find one for sale in NZ. I got a Kelly Kettle in from Australia. Your videos on the Kelly Kettle sold me on getting one.
We need to speak about that commision for the Kelly kettle😂😂. Each product has there pros and cons, I wonder if there are different rocket stoves in NZ. I'll look into it. Cheers Mate
Chris, thanks for this I've seen these online for many years, this is the first I've ever seen one in operation. It's cleared up a lot of my questions.
Thank you very much. I had another negative comment just this very morning ha ha. Hopefully do a video soon, decided to do them once I hit 30 likes for latest video so nearly there. Thanks for the kind works, cheers Chris
Try them again when you hit 10,000 subscribers. They are just probably looking at numbers rather than your content. You do great videos of showing these stoves in use. There are always going to be negative comments from people. The anonymity of the Internet allows people to say things and run away. Just focus on the positive ones and know that you're doing well on here😁
Pay no attention to the complainers. Most likely they do it on every video they watch. Keep on keeping on. It seems to me that you should have more subscribers.
Haha pity Ecozoom didn't bite with your offer of sponsorship. Any meal cooked outdoors is always great. What about a couple of slices of Lorne Sausage? I always had a go at that when I visited Scotland. Yeah. Lot of negativity out there. It's a pity of the trolls.
Thanks very much Paul, I will have Lorne sausage in an upcoming video to honour your comment, great to hear that you visited Scotland, when they said we'll see if your face fits I knew my plan was scuppered😂😂😂😂still if you dont ask you dont get. It really does look the real deal, never mind, cheers for watching and the comment, Chris
