- Pro Tip: You'll catch more beaver with a poorly made set than you will with the trap laying in the back of your truck.
Tier 1 Trapper sets all remaining 330 bodygrip traps in the final hours of season to try to reach the centurion milestone of 100 beavers in one season.
Please add comments and suggestions for future video topics. I've gotten requests for some videos on canine trapping, which I will include this fall.
Would there be any interest in survival type videos?
Thanks for watching!
Getting caught up on podcasts and just heard you on Kyle Lamb's last night. Great show and that brought me here. Solid video and I look forward to seeing more of them.
Great! thanks for watching, and for listening to Kyle's podcast.
Congrats on 104 beavers this year! I'd appreciate seeing a video about how to spot bank dens.
ok, thanks for the feedback.
I've touched on it in a few other videos, but I can see about doing a video solely on this topic in the future.
Great job my friend!
Video about scouting locations to trap
I hope you have a good elk hunt.
LOL would sure like to see those 76 and 80 pound beavers on a scale ! LOL
LOL,,, I bought a digital scale this year, but I'm sure there will still be doubters, such as yourself.
LOL
Good luck with your little beavers.
@@tier1trapper747 LOL .. ok whatever. I don't know anyone that knows of a 80 lb beaver ... so you keep on dreaming with your estimates. Stay safe Trapper
Awesome season. Keep up the great work and thanks for posting.
How much did you average on Beaver? 10 to 15 Bucks you almost made Expenses. A lot of work for that much Money, but you had a Million Dollars worth of fun. Cheers
I averaged $18.49 at the last auction. I had all sizes. For the next auction, I only have XL and XXL/XXXL with 4 larges.
I sent all small, medium, and most large to the tannery. Once tanned, I can sell them for higher prices.
I also averaged $100 per pound on the castoreum. Considering it takes about 8-10 beaver to make a pound, it still counts as profit. I also sell the tails and skulls.
@@tier1trapper747 Wouldn't want to Try and Make Money Trapping with the Price of Trucks and now Fuel. Trapped Pro for 30 yrs in Wildoming. Trapped Cats Mostly, but Coyotes too if I could Average Enough on them. Caught alot of Cats, 30 to 70 a season, Trapped them from Christmas till March 1St When the Fur was Prime. Only way I ever Made real Money Trapping. Have Fun!!!
Some guys go bass fishing as a hobby. I go beaver trapping. It's not about the money for me.
@@tier1trapper747 I Guided Fishermen in the Summer. It's not all about the Money to me Either, but I made Damn good Money many times. If you do much Trapping it gets real Expensive, many Years I would Average around 500.00 Usd on Cats, best day I ever had I Snared 8 in a day, I was walking tall after that, paid off 1/2 of my new 4 Wheeler in one day. The Danger and Adventure is one Reason I Loved Trapping, WY is alot different to Trap than WI. Usually the areas I would Trap were very Remote, and severe Weather. I Trapped Mink alot in Early Winter and they weren't a Big Money maker either, but I Loved catching them, caught 18 one day and averaged about the same on them 18.00 Been a Trapper for 60 Yrs. 30 of that a Pro. Cheers
@@tier1trapper747 Here's you a old Trapper Joke and a Tip. To be a Beaver Trapper you have to wear a Size 5 Hat and a Size 48 Coverall. They would usually tell me that you had to Smell like a Coyote to catch them, I told them Wrong, you have to Smell like the Wind, and that's why you can't Catch Em. LOL Try Cable Spool Ends for Stretching your River Pigs. Cheers
congrats on hitting and passing the hundred goal . i managed to pass it as well . you carpet bombed them with this run of sets .
congrats to you also!
Love your videos man.. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and lessons learned running trap lines. 🙏 🇺🇸 🦫
You bet. Let me know if there is anything specific you'd like to see in future videos.
B's on the weights.i caught thousands none that size
Thanks for your opinion Earl. Maybe you've been trapping in a different area where the beaver don't get as big? Maybe you only catch the younger ones? Also, I call BS on you catching "thousands" of beaver. Have a great day.
Great video! Looking forward to an elk hunting video. How about a video on getting ready for the elk hunt? Also, how do you prepare beaver meat for eating?
Thanks for the feedback.
I just take the backstrap and some meat off the hind legs/quarters.
The best way to cook it is in a slowcooker with BBQ sauce, broth and apple cider vinegar, much like you would with a pork loin. After a bout 6 or 8 hours, the meat will fall apart, then I drain it and shred it and serve on hamburger buns.
I've also grilled it with some marinade, or fry it in garlic butter. I also grind some up and use anywhere you'd use ground beef.
How long do beavers live? Like is 2 old for a beaver?
2 is young, but that's the age when they typically get kicked out of the house.
Beavers can live longer than 20 years in the wild.
What type of bodygrip traps do you prefer
I have an assortment, since I often buy used ones at flea markets and auctions. I will always grab a 330, if I can get it for $10 .
When buying new ones, I just go with Duke, since they are cost effective and reliable. I wouldn't recommend Duke for footholds, but for 160s, 330s, and DogProofs, they are fine.
