i love seeing her smile :) just finished reading her book and it's incomprehensible what she and other transgender people have to go through in life. I wish for a world where there is no discrimination against anyone. I wish for a racism, sexism and speciesm free world.
I'm glad non-trans folk are reading it. I'm trans when I read it there was so many parallels it was incredible, although it also brought some awful things back up. Worth the read regardless.

I was already crying but then I saw her Discharge _NEVER AGAIN_ shirt and...oh my God, I lost it. I'm a part-Jewish trans girl working on a project with a Jewish friend (Tilhas Tizi Gesheften) that deals heavily with the Holocaust and the Jewish Resistance; one of the songs we're writing is punk-oriented and contains a chorus of 'Never again! Never again! Never _fucking_ again!'
Then I started smiling while crying when Atom made her laugh.
Hearing the acoustic versions of this song and the bit of southern twang that comes out in Laura's voice, particularly in the word "home" in the chorus, makes me really want a full-on country version of it and other songs from the album
Seeing her rock the transition makes me feel slightly less horrible about being a 6'5 hairy ogre with a receding hairline. She's what goals look like

first time i'm hearing Against Me and these songs are so beautiful and inspiring.
i haven't listened to this song in years.......not since my feelings of discomfort with my gender began to fully arise. it's currently in the early hours of the morning. i am dreading work tomorrow and battling with the knowledge that i am to once again awake in a world in which it seems i am unable to be happy, or even somewhat okay. i am wondering if ceasing to exist would be a more rational solution than continuing with the reality that i've been given. nevertheless, i am here. i'll finally be eighteen next month and can hopefully make a start on receiving the private mental health support and gender affirming care that i've been holding out for all of these years. much love to laura and atom, the latter of whom has since recently become a member of perhaps my Favourite ever band
