Doug’s testimony is as believable as it gets. That’s one innocent man. How horrible it must be to be accused of such a horrible crime. What hell he must have gone through. May he, family, and friends find comfort in each other...and get justice! George had been accused 20 years prior of murder...umm come on!! Being accused once is one thing but twice? Seems a no brainer this case.

Another case of overzealous cops combined with lazy police work ruins another life and family...george burch committed this murder, his DNA was on nikki’s bloody clothes, gps and cell phone records place him at the scene of the crime, where the body was dumped, and the car he used had a mysterious car fire...
100% george burch murdered nikki and was accused of murder 20 years prior...

So far the prosecution and defense have exchanged roles. Defense tries to prove Doug did it, prosecution tries to defend Doug from defense's allegations. How be we get back to old George being on trial here.

Very true, stay with your friends and stay with the group, I know... It's never a good idea, I separated from my friends and I was drunk and vulnerable, scared looking for my friends and two guys offered me a ride, they seem like good guys and I trusted them....Wrong thing To do, I was nieve and trusted people. I remember going into a black blazer well driving which I don't know where I was going because I doozed off a few times well driving and then I was attacked and I don't remember afterwards, I only know or remember the beginning. And I was raped and beaten and hit in the head with a bat over and over and took me to a some mountains and left me in the desert, thinking I was dead but I was unconscious and a bloody heap. I was in a coma for a month and now I have nightmares and have anxiety, I went from being a happy, social person, the life of the party to a person scared with panic attacks when I leave to a club or bar, I get really tense and I suffer from post traumatic disorder and I have therapy now, it's a horrific and unbearable experience that I suffer from to this day. I can now say I'm happier and in a better place but now I still live in fear and I still have flashbacks. My heart aches for Nicole, I can't comprehend why anyone would kill a wonderful women like her, and taking her from her children. But I know her fear. God bless her family and friends.

I am very impressed with that young, gentle-talking Defense Attorney. He's got his P's and Q's together when questioning Doug. I don't think Doug killed her, but he also is a very selfish, self-centered, spoiled 36-year-old man who depends on his parents to pay his bills while he stays home. He told his mother that he wanted to make her and her children leave. The responsibility of a family was just too much for him. She was a one-night stand and got pregnant. She should have known better because all he was interested in was to get some "new stuff" the night he met her. Unfortunately, they didn't use birth control, which is the fault of both of them. The Defense Attorney is making him look like a total Jerk that he is. But.....it doesn't make him a killer.

Because doug detrie was arrested and charged with murder and imprisoned for 18 days due to lazy police work and cops focusing on hunches instead of evidence...the defense is trying to make it appear as though doug was the murderer and not their client, george burch, whose DNA was on nicole’s body and bloody clothes and whose GPS records indicate he drove to their house, and the body dump site and the interstate where other items of hers were dumped...

If you came upon this trial at the right time you might think Doug is on trial for negligent homicide for being a horrible criminally uncaring boyfriend. Poor Nikki. She made a very bad choice because she was too drunk got irrational and wanted to show him imo..she did leave and take off from one other place I recall from a previous witness ..after drinking she decided to take off on foot. Idk..I feel really bad for the witness from what the freAking defense is putting him through and nobody does a thing..gotta let the defendant blame the rest of the world for their horrible actions like just getting too drunk one night - I mean..it’s almost Doug’s fault she was brutally raped and murdered because he didn’t care enough to find and keep her safe.

They weren't married. I doubt that Doug would have ever married her because he's a playboy and too irresponsible and immature. He hardly works and his parents pay his bills. She was a one-night stand that got pregnant. That old trick doesn't work anymore - men don't marry pregnant girlfriends these days. Sounds like she pouted because she didn't get her way at the party (she is the one who wanted to go) and Doug didn't pay enough attention to her. So she thought that she would show him and she started walking. Unfortunately that stupid decision got her brutally beaten and killed.

@@glyndamcdonald5608 let's be honest, you and i know nothing about what was running through her head that night nor do we know everything about the relationship they had. what we do know is that he was irresponsible and not really manning up, he had considered throwing Nicole and her kids out, and at one point complained to his mom about possibly being tied down for 18 years. his lack of stepping up to the plate would drive any woman crazy - but for some reason i keep seeing other females put the blame on her that she was trying to trap him when they watched a few videos or read a few articles and think they have every angle. some people become sensitive when they drink, some people get happy, and some people can be angry. and it isn't rare that people do dumb things when they drink and make dumb decisions. he chose his friends over her that night and, what likely is the reality, in her inebriated state, her emotions got the best of her. this isn't a rare thing.
obviously george burch was involved with Nicole's murder. her murder sickens me. my problem with it is the amount of damage inflicted on her - it's the type of thing you see when things are personal. something still doesn't sit right with me for some reason with all of this.
