Hello David, here are the recommended drives Reolink tested & support: Western Digital HDD WD30PURX （3TB） Toshiba HDD DT01ABA300V （3TB） Seagate HDD ST3000VX006 （3TB） According to Reolink, the 4TB should work.
Hey: I have the RNL16-410 DVR with one 3TB HDD. does the second HDD have to be 3TB, or can I go larger with the second bay? All the examples I have seen use matching sizes for the drives. Thanks!

Is there more than one 16 channel NVR? the one we got does not have a eSata connection on the back and can only have a max of 8 TB internally. Also do we need the "skyhawk" hard drives which are seagates "surveillance" drives or do any work okay?
Yes there are two versions of the 16 channel NVR, a 4MP & a 5 MP version. The 5 MP version has the eSata port on the back. Regarding the drives, surveillance drives are designed for video surveillance. Regular drives will work, but may lag and the probability of them failing is higher. I would recommend spending the few extra bucks on the surveillance drives. Have a great day.

good vid. i keep getting HDD not formatted message on 8 channel POE NVR. when i resit the cables to the HDD the message goes away but will return about a month after. could i install an external USB HDD in place of the internal? help will be greatly appreciated.
If you replaced the cables and tried a different drive, the main board could be failing. If you're still under warranty with Reolink, reach out to them for a replacement. Reolink released a new line of NVRs, but are still selling their original line as well.
