Hey Squirrel. Straight line tool for terrain editing: build 2 paralel roads or tracks, edit the terain between them, and remove the road/track when done. It should give you a nice trench and you can smoothe after if you want. I preffer not to smoothe canals.
Going great! There's a mod called Expanded Cargo Demands, it comes in 4 flavours which basically lets you choose how you want your cities to demand all the stuff and things. I use the Progressive flavour myself, it makes all cities on the map demand food and conmat from 1850 onwards, then from the 1920's onwards the cities will also start to demand tools and fuel, and from the 1990's onwards they'll also start to demand goods and machines. It will work on a savegame, but since you're already in the 2010's, it might be better to use a mod like that for your next TpF2 series after this one where you'll do the EPEC challenge (you know you want to 😉) You might also like the UK Gas Works mod which converts 2 coal into 1 fuel, plus the addons giving some high capacity vintage UK (coal)fuel trucks, and the British Gasometers. However, those will auto-generate on a new map, but on a savegame you'd have to turn on the ingame sandbox mod and place the factory buildings yourself (so these would also be better for your next upcoming EPEC challenge series 😁) Many high regards from the Netherlands, and keep up the awesome work!
I would suggest making bus shuttles from each city's main bus station to the local train station. There's a huge demand for traveling, but the problem is that people are stuck inside the cities and can never get on the intercity lines. Maybe even several bus lines for each city, could be a good solution.
And I was going to tell you that SANDHURST CONMAT trucks are in the depo but were not asigned the line in 52:35, but since I had a house on the beach in that town and you destroyed it, I won't.
for anyone watching in the future like me, adding passenger terminals to the airport will increase the actual number of passengers that can wait in the airport before they start to leave. its not all cosmetic (i have heard him say that the buildings are only cosmetic in past videos. i dont know if it was different 1 year ago when this video was made but in my time period they add capacity for both passengers and cargo )
Great opportunity to have left an urban lake/park setting. Don't know if that helps the game but would look cool and make the city look more realistic. Great series!
"I have a cunning plan!" - said Baldrick. I have a feeling very few viewers got that joke xD If you don't know, it's from a very good show called Blackadder, with Rowan Atkinson (before Mr. Bean) and Sir Tony Robinson as Baldrick! The quote: "I have a cunning plan" started in Season 2, if I remember correctly.
Been loving your series from day one. At this point though, to not make it repetitive, how about a bit more challengin, fun development to the cities and bring a few of them up to 2018 standard. How about overhead ring roads, interchanges and modern multi-destination train station in your hub city?
You coul do like real airlines, not the same plane for the whole fleet. 2 a380 and the rest 757 and you could have taken both things at once. Loving the series btw, keep it rolling :)
I found out about this series last week and although I have been playing the game for quite some time I have leaned a great deal from it. It is also very enjoyable and relaxing to watch so thank you very much for all the effort and time put into it. Would you please consider uploading the final savegame on workshop? Greetings from Athens-Greece.
Absolutely LOVE the series. SO much so that I've ditched my console gaming and I've bought a gaming PC JUST so that I can buy and play Transport Fever 2. . Might have been cool to leave a small lake for the city to grow around (where you filled in the river).
I recommend to build the truck and bus stations on both sides on the road... they combine into one and you can choose from what direction they approach the station... its good for avoiding crossing on the streets
39:57 The reason it is weird is that it counts as two separate tunnels. The game have a problem with two different tunnels through the same opening but are still not connected until the diamond. That said, the game does not have a problem with 3 entrances since all the tracks are connected in some fashion. Not sure, but delete the whole tunnel segment and do the ends properly and you won't have that problem, I think. For the very few to none following my Transport Fever 2 campaign: I'm done. Everything map, age and side quest done. Tip: Use google to find steam discussion if you are unclear about something.
Squirrel:- I think bradford is the biggest Romsey:- Am I a joke to you? Leigh:- Am I a joke to you Other old cities:- Am I a joke to you? Minor potentially 5000 pop cities:- AM I A STUPID JOKE TO YOU
Hi Squirrel, impressed that your game runs this smooth with the massive cities on the map. Can't help but noticed that many of said cites are massively short on goods delivery coverage and internal city commutes. Will this be addressed in a near episode?
Also I think that you should have made a train route to the airport instead of building it right next to the hub this way if you need to bring in more train lines you will have space
I love these videos❤️, may you please show more big projects and stats. Can you also sync all pax trains and planes with every single city. Can you add more bigger planes and fix the poorer vehicles of older city transitions. ✌️
A moded refinery at top lvl produces 800 units of fuel. Your Bradford requires over 800 if I saw right. Have 2 or even 3 dropoff points with as little overlap as possible to make sure you deliver to all the shops efficiently. I am assuming oil sand refinery has the same max output as the other one.
I'm only up to 22:50, but wanted to point out the shipping route from the tool factory near Bradford-on-Avon that now goes way out of itss way to use the new canal that you just dug. It looks like more waypoints are needed.
The island u have created thanx to the new canal would be perfect for a Cargo hub in the center for trucks then fly it out with a small cargo airport or port ,3 resources at a time should bulk up those 3 resources in the island them
38:59 you’ve literally never been able to build junctions through the mouth of the tunnel; you either have to do it on the outside or just inside, otherwise it gets all weird. Also I think it was being weird inside the tunnel because it seems the game built two separate tunnels through part of that; you even highlighted that it gets weird when you try and build long segments of double track through tunnels, and then fell victim to that very thing lol. I think if you’d have deleted the track back in the tunnel a bit you’d have been fine.
I guess the A380 (as in reality) only makes sense for Hub and Spoke transportation if you have some big Airports relaying passengers from multiple smaller planes.
I have to wonder how many people were unceremoniously dropped from those A380's mid flight. Need a mod to show the parachutes falling down and people running back to the nearest town.
If you are upgrading planes to a higher capacity the plane morphs around the passengers and they don't even have to adjust their seat belts. Only if you reduce the size of the plane do you have to hand out parachutes.
It's hard to see millions of people sitting on the bus stops waiting for a ride to destination they want. Please check your bus lines and upgrade them. You have like -30% or even -40% town growth because of that
I had the exact same problem with my tools ship line between Sandhurst and Ludgershall once I made that channel. I tried cutting the corner too but that didn't work so I just blocked off the channel pretty much between Henley livestock and fishery.
If you ever get tired of all the green on that map but still want to play TF2... Here's the seed to my current game, in which I have a blast: Seed: Ymq Climate: Dry + American Vehicles Size: Very Large 1:3 Towns & Industries: Both medium Canyons: -1 Mesa: -2 Ridges: +2 Water: -1 Forest: +2 Map was generated without any mods. Start Year: 1850 - The Wild Wild West 😃 My challange to you would be the following: No additional Loans and you can only connect new cities to cities you're already established _(e.g. connecting one city to the next not jumping around the map)_
Sandhurst, why not just build a few bridges over the river. Would look great. Would the game recognize that it can build across the bridge? What if you build a few blocks of residential the other side to start them off?
part of the problem on that line is your still using loco and carriages the passenger lines should be on multiple unit trains because there generally cheaper to run because instead of running costs for loco and each individual carriage you pay one lot of running cost on the whole thing
Squirrel, Your new water way is two depths and i wonder if that is way they originally went a deeper path. And it may now effect the speed of which your tankers are running through the water way. Just something I noticed.
You keep saying how important it is to be paid both ways, but you never put any effort to making it happen. You only get paid both ways when the industry you are working on at that moment allows it. Almost your entire network is operating at 50% capacity because every line is dedicated to a single industry. You need to look at the industries around you and figure out what else can use the same line. For example, the line bringing stone from the north to the conmat factory in the south goes back empty, but there is a farm near the conmat factory, and a cattle ranch near the rock quarry (and I think the other building needed to process the cattle onto food are also in the area). So rather than returning empty, you could bring the grain back north and set up a food production system. That way you are getting paid both ways, and fueling two industries with a single train line. Even if the train doesn’t have a full load on the return trip, or makes an extra stop to drop off the materials part way, it is better than nothing.
you never put the Sandhurst conmat trucks on the line :O they are rusting away in the depot :O lol also how does one make the AI stop dumping 2 different cargo types on the same platform? I currently have bricks mixed in with the veggies and veggies mixed in with the bricks on 2 different platforms for a truck depot, and if i pause one line and switch trucks over, they just drive around empty, much like the space between their ears lmao
Hello from Sweden 😊🇸🇪Love this series so much , and u do it gr8. I am wondering regarding the boat times. Is it real or do they take to long. I feel like boats in current time should be faster , ur thoughts? Keep it up 😊
46:26 - so so frustrating how you cross tracks for no reason. Like so many times in this series, there is absolute no need for the diamond, just put 2 tracks for the sand into one platform and the other 2 tracks into the second platform.
45:20 why would you not just build the tracks differently so the trains don’t have to merge? There’s no reason for those tracks to merge since you have two available platforms.
For what it's worth, you seem to be pronouncing "Princes Risborough" as "Princess Risborough". It's the plural of prince, not princess. I know it doesn't matter much, and it's still a very strange name for a city, but that might clear things up a bit.
There's something hilarious about erasing people's beach side property.
A city planner once told me that "NO view is ever guaranteed." I don't think she meant filling in a whole river but hey!
Lol hahahahahha jajajajajjaja 55555555555555555
You forgot to assign the conmat trucks in Sandhurst to the line. They are in the depot awaiting orders.
50:10 Imagine waking up in the morning like "Where the heck did the beach go"... Well uncle Squirrel happened 🤣
Hey Squirrel. Straight line tool for terrain editing: build 2 paralel roads or tracks, edit the terain between them, and remove the road/track when done. It should give you a nice trench and you can smoothe after if you want. I preffer not to smoothe canals.

Some Cities Skylines wisdom right there

As an Australian Aviation Enthusiast I thank you for putting Qantas A380's on the route lol (even if it was short lived).
That six million dollar tunneling build was one hell of a deal, considering all the work involved!
I remember watching you a lot during the truck simulator days
Yeah... Which ATS would come back seeing all the new states they added... Dreams...

I'm just imagining the map wide tidal waves the terraforming would cause in Skylines.
20 people on a 737 sounds hilarious 😂
The demand on this series are huge, you must put out more to keep up :)
You coul do like real airlines, not the same plane for the whole fleet. 2 a380 and the rest 757 and you could have taken both things at once. Loving the series btw, keep it rolling :)
I would take a look at swapping some of those bus lines for high capacity tram lines.
I found out about this series last week and although I have been playing the game for quite some time I have leaned a great deal from it. Loving this series a ton! I think you forgot to put your conmat truck on their line, I may have missed it though.
he got the trucks but din't assign them

Yes, I’ve been waiting for this episode!
I love vibing with this games music
Why not 2 drop stops in Bradford for fuel? I think only 1 stop doesn't cover the whole area of demand for fuel

You could move fuel from the oil sands plant to Loughton by water.
I could be wrong, but I don’t know that the new Bradford transport is attached to the fuel station.

I had the exact same problem with my tools ship line between Sandhurst and Ludgershall once I made that channel. I tried cutting the corner too but that didn't work so I just blocked off the channel pretty much between Henley livestock and fishery.
The boat path is all to do with the width of the channel and how many and what size the shipping is

Why don't you put two drop off points in industrial districts? Really enjoying the series 😁.
Spot on. Very frustrating not seeing the % sliders being used.
Squirrel, Your new water way is two depths and i wonder if that is way they originally went a deeper path. And it may now effect the speed of which your tankers are running through the water way. Just something I noticed.
@16:30 Am I the only one that just had to sing that Papa Roach song out loud, but with one small detail changed, when he said what he said?
Love a long episode been looking forward two this 👍
I'd make the canal bigger otherwise you could have a stuck Ever Given in 140 years.
Well, know we know Squirrel isn't reading us. Still have to say that both crossings slow down to 85 here 44:55
You must now rename Sandhurst, Grasshurst.
You keep saying how important it is to be paid both ways, but you never put any effort to making it happen. You only get paid both ways when the industry you are working on at that moment allows it. How can I get the dollar amount $ in the bottom left corner to be on my game play? It shown nothing at the moment.
Hello from Sweden 😊🇸🇪Love this series so much , and u do it gr8. I am wondering regarding the boat times. Is it real or do they take to long. I feel like boats in current time should be faster , ur thoughts? Keep it up 😊
you dont have the antinov mod for cargo it allows you to use less planes on heavy cargo lines
How about starting an air cargo route for more Sand?
SELL THE BOAT YOU BOAT AN EXTRA OF FOR SANDHURT-LUDGERSHALL TOOLS please
46:26 - so so frustrating how you cross tracks for no reason. Like so many times in this series, there is absolute no need for the diamond, just put 2 tracks for the sand into one platform and the other 2 tracks into the second platform.
Exactly
He did it for the lol so here we are LOL heheh u doing a great job man im eatching you from the begining and i wish a great day from kosovo
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Finally you noticed that mistake I pointed out like 3 episodes ago LOL
are there any new v8achels after 2020
You didn't assign those trucks at 52:25.

My thoughts exactly!
look like you might need the mod that let's you buy factory's.
What is it with this game and Swiss trains? :)
I don’t think you put the trucks on the line in sandhurst so they won’t deliver conmat
Where did it put the extra passengers on that plane downgrade mid air?
OK! you found out. lol
your cunning plan is missing turnip, good sir)
For what it's worth, you seem to be pronouncing "Princes Risborough" as "Princess Risborough". It's the plural of prince, not princess. I know it doesn't matter much, and it's still a very strange name for a city, but that might clear things up a bit.

Getting fed up of going to Ontario now....
Hi
Can't you put 2 drop off points
Ugh, your inner city bus lines look horrid. Ovals or double loops maybe, but 80% of the cities aren't covered any longer.
pu8t a mod in where covid-19 come in 2020
It does make me irrationally angry that he keeps saying "princess" when there's only one s
Yikes. Couldn’t you just put a buildable road as a bridge and put more in the other side? I cringed hard at filling in the river.
Lol
Loo
