Hey! This is my first time traveling for Go Fest and this video was super helpful. I don't plan on getting merch but I did preorder a shirt. Do the crazy lines apply to people that preordered?
for pre order there is a line right at the front by the food trucks. It was a long line but moves pretty fast. We had our shirts shipping to house.
Well said, I liked that they had the ferry running in 2023 if you were lucky to get a ticket for it. For 2024 I didn't see it offered. So part of the reason not going in 2024 is avoiding bad areas of NYC. See you at another event in a better location.
The ferry will be running but last year it was a long wait for some. Luck of the draw (on line speed) depending when you try to board it. Were going as its NYC and we vacation there anyway. This will be our 5th or 6th? trip there. The Nintendo store is a must visit.
Good video man. My question is, I’ve only ever done the world go tours, never had the luxury to travel far to NYC or overseas.. do people not participate even if they buy both morning and afternoon at Randal Park? I’m nervous as hell about walking the city. See too much crime all throughout and I’d rather carry my sidearm if I was going to do that.
Hello, We go to NYC allot and walking around Manhattan is (even at night) safe enough where it can feel less safe is away from the main tourist areas. Randal Island once inside the pokemon area is safe but the Area between may be more of an issue. For Gofest seattle many people skipped the "downtown expereince" with good reason. We did it but it was not really safe imo.

Lots of people walk with their phones out in Harlem but it can be sketchy at times, and enjoy the walk from Bryant park to Central Park really not that long. Or just take the subway
They do in overtown in Miami but that doesnt mean its smart or safe. Overtown crime rates are 29% above national average. According to the FBI's 2023 Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program data, Miami currently has a higher violent crime rate than NYC. Here's a breakdown: Violent Crimes per 100,000 people: Miami - 530, NYC - 360 (Source: FBI UCR)
I am from NYC and was considering going for the first time but Randall's Island is a dealbreaker.
I can understand this, were going and I will let the public know the honest truth about the event. I dont understand why they can just use part of central park.
Central park would be so much better!

I dont believe there is any option to park on the randell island durring the event.
Good perspective overall. I would say the safety thing mentions walking to the park on normal days would be something to worry about but not with hundreds of people doing this for an event. Good video though!
Thanks, Yes with lots of pokemon people around you there isnt allot of chance of something happening BUT its those moments where there isnt other pokemon go players around. The Seattle go fest "city experience" was not filled with pokemon players. There was times where we were the only two people on the block either direction playing pokemon. There was drugged out people (homless?) wandering around and some shouting at invisible people, I kid you not. And poeople who have nothing your phone is a easy pawn away from the next drug hit.
Were people allowed to Uber to the island?
Originally said to be NO but did take a taxi off the island leaving the Sat AM experience mid afternoon
It's posted online that they're not allowed to drop off or pickup, but last year had no issues doing either, the price was incredibly inflated though. This year I'm doing the ferry instead.
@@EmilyEspurrfect So you ubered or city taxi onto the island? What day and AM or PM? For Sat I was only able to get lyft to drop off and lower bridge and then city taxi back. Think it was like $50 or more coming back to Nintendo store.
there's an app called Revel, which is like Uber, & it took me to & off the Island with no problem, just put in the address of the park & you should be able to go.
Harlem wasn't so bad going to the event because there were a lot of people going over the bridge. I felt safe at all times, but i could see how if you were alone it would be scary.
We took a lyft onto the island (you could Sat at 8 AM or so) but going back we took the BUS that drops off in Harlem. There was allot of Pokemon people (that was true) but still not really safe if you wander a block or two away and NFW at night.
