Between all my GI Joes, Transformers, Silverhawks, M.A.S.K. and Nintendo games I don't know how the hell I ever got any schoolwork done.

That Metal Gear game evolved into Metal Gear Solid, which is one of the most awesome game series ever in my opinion. That GI Joe mobile command center is worth a fortune now because even at $45 not many kids could get it. It was also in a bad spot with the kids who played with the first few years of Joes now too old while the next crop of kids were struggling to decide if they like it or Ninja Turtles.

I remember Starting Lineup action figures. Saw them in stores, I didn't care for them.

My best bud had the Power Pad. He used that to demolish the long jump game with cheating. He hit the Olympic steps a few times.

I miss seeing the Starting Lineup figures.
Even though I don't really get into sports that much,
I'd really like to have a few and set 'em up.
I would get Larry Bird and a few football figures.

I never had older video games when I was a kid.
A friend he gave me the Sega Genesis and threw in the gun at random. :)
It's disappointing to hear that JAWS wasn't a good game.
I think it'd be cool if you could use the Nintendo gun for the JAWS game whether it's a harpoon or the rifle Chief Brody uses at the end.
I always got into train sets that was always my thing.
    Thanks for the video

I got the Sega Master system for Afterburner, then the Genesis for it. I loved that game in the arcade. My neighbor and I were 2 out of our whole grade who had the Mastersystem. Things changed with the Genesis and a lot of people bought that. I recently got one of those little emulater machines and play all those classics and the Nintendo ones as well, my kids will play the sports games with me and generally not complain about the graphics.

I believe by this point I had gotten out of toys and full blown video games. I had the Nintendo and many many games. I miss those days . I have a Xbox one and a ps4 a nintendo switch and I have no were near what I had back in the good ole days. I miss going to the store and having fun picking out a game that you read about in video games magazines. It really bites now because there is no magazines and video games if you go to the store there hardly any. And its going to get worse once Wal-Mart gets rid of all media . My local Miejers is the same .

I see a bunch of LJN games on the first page, they’re playable alright, but they’re not that good. Also, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest had the most boring Dracula fight, he just mostly stood there, didn’t change forms or anything.

The Joe Mobile Command Center is from 87, but I think the other action figure toys are from 88. GI Joe was still good for a few years after 87 but Transformers declined hard core (it began declining in 86, in my opinion, but they tried in 87, the Seacon combiners from 88 are alright if you ignore the robot modes of the five small members, the Predacons from 86 must have sold well because there were a lot of beasts after 86). 88 was the last year of MASK. Nintendo hurt action figure sales. I suspect comics also did and maybe VHS.
Castlevania 3 (89) is epic but hard. I loved it and the brutal Ninja Gaiden 1 (88). I'm not sure why I didn't get NG 2 from 90. I guess I was burned out on fun torture. I may have rented it but didn't finish it. (3 from 91 only has 5 continues in the US version which is super lame, and the new systems were coming up by then. My friend had it, but I didn't like it )
CV 2 (87), Simon's Quest, is disliked, mainly because the awful translation ruined the game, but it was ground breaking like Metroid and has a sweet song. I didn't like it much.
Zelda 2 (87) and TMNT (89) are brutal. My brother had them, and I gave up on them. I ruined my thumb beating NG, Mega Man 1 to 3 which I rented (87, 89, and 90, 4 and after were from 92 and after and I don't think I played them), and CV 3.
We had Contra (87). The game for the 89 Batman movie was another favorite of mine. It is similar to Ninja Gaiden but not nearly as hard.

The combiners, like the Constructicons, must have been popular (beginning with the Trainbots in Japan), though I didn't like them (still don't have a full combiner set, though the recent Stunticons are cool). They did a lot of them and the related big bases (maybe Omega Supreme also sold well (I had him), Trypticon the big dinosaur is sweet) in 86 and some of both in 87.
I don't understand why they released a flood of the not cheap, regular car Transformers in Japan and the US in one year (plus Optimus and Ultra Magnus (in Japan)). There were more of them in Japan. In Japan, unless you include the Dinobots, they only had the two jets the next year and the three Omnibots (mail aways in the US) the year after that. Were adults buying them?
(I hope they make at least Overdrive for Legacy. He was a cool G1. I don't want the spendy, difficult, breakable third party. The Omnibots are MASK like but were before it in Japan, and Tracks was two years before them in Japan.)
The small, cheap (and generally cool) Machine Robos (GoBots) which began the same year had a medium first year, two big middle years, and a small final year.
(The big MRs/GoBots were generally lame, though there were big versions of the leaders (and repainted regular sized leaders and other characters). Defendor the tank (my brother had him) was cool and better than many of the Transformers. GoBots had tanks (cool ones and bad ones) before Transformers. GoBots tried many more vehicle modes than Transformers. Oddly, they remind me of Bayformers.)
(Machine Robo had a couple cool transformable vehicles and a set the figures could interact with in Japan. This made them kind of like GI Joe and Star Wars. They should have done more of this in the US, though Cy-Kill was one of the few who could sit (he had a throne in a US set), so the GoBots needed to stand in vehicles. Giving them canons to fire would have been cool. There was a lame GoBot starfighter, designed by Tonka at the end, they could pilot.)

      @tomcruisenukedmyaccount5388 16 днів тому

Actually, a larger number of the regular Machine Robos were released in the first two years of GoBots in the US.
(In the first year, the bad guy team had more of the cool robo figures. I remember this, and I vaguely remember some of the names from the second year, but I don't remember the weak third. I don't know why they didn't release fewer of the weird Super GoBots with no heads. Maybe the success of the GoBots gave Hasbro confidence to release many figures and helped Transformers. Tonka didn't use team names until too late. It seems to me they were copying He-Man at first.)
I guess GoBots ended largely because they ran out of Japanese toys. They scraped together the last year. Not sure why Tonka thought Rock Lords was a good idea though. They look cool but turn into rocks. He-Man also kind of did this the same year and the next, but these figures turned into meteors. (I loved my Stonedar.)
And why weren't the cool Double Machine Robos Imported, or at least some of them? GoBots would have scored a win against Transformers with them.

Adding to my other comment, Ninja Gaiden 3 (91) looks cool. I never played it. It's sad they only gave players five continues in the US for some insane reason. It looks difficult even with unlimited continues. Maybe this killed the series and this was why there wasn't a Super Nintendo sequel. My friend had 2 (90), and I didn't like it. I still don't like it. It looks like a rehash of 1 (88). This was why I never bought it
